아무나 못 받는 Nobody 응답 (행23:23-30)

서론

미국의 아브라함 링컨이라고 하면 세상에서 가장 존경받는 대통령으로 유명하다. 이 아브라함 링컨이 노예 해방을 한 후에 많은 사람들로부터 질문을 받았다. “당신의 놀라운 성공과 존경받는 삶의 비결이 무엇입니까?” 그 때 링컨이 대답했다. “내가 성공한 이유는 아주 간단합니다. 내가 실패를 많이 경험했기 때문입니다.” 아마 링컨만큼 실패를 많이 한 사람도 없었을 것이다. 링컨은 실패를 실패로 끝낸 것이 아니라 실패 속에서 교훈을 얻어서 새로운 큰 일을 시도할 수 있었다. 링컨은 계속해서 이야기했다. “내가 실패했을 때 악마는 내게 끝장났다고 말했습니다. 그러나 하나님께서는 두려워말고 또다시 도전하라고 말씀해주셨습니다. 나는 악마의 이야기보다도 하나님의 음성에 귀를 귀울였습니다.” 링컨은 기도하는 사람이었다. 어려운 일을 당했을 때는 더욱 하나님께 매달리며 기도했다. 유명한 이야기이다. 한밤중에 청소부가 어느 구석에서 외치는 소리가 들려서 쫓아갔다. 백악관 골방의 문을 열어보니까 링컨이 부르짖으며 기도하고 있었다. 계속 실패만 하는 것 같은데 결국은 모든 것을 다 이루었다. 그는 많은 실패를 했지만 실패가 끝이나 좌절이 아니었던 것이다. 그는 확실한 성공하는 방법을 하나님께서 받아서 그것을 좋은 기회로 삼았다. 많은 사람들은 실패를 만나면 좌절하고 포기하는 삶을 사는데 아브라함은 실패를 통해서 새로운 길을 찾아내는 열쇠를 발견했다. 과연 링컨은 믿음의 사람이었다고 볼 수 있다. 하나님의 뜻이라면 끝까지 기도하면서 응답을 받았다. 사도바울이 예루살렘에 와서 유대인에게 복음을 전하기 위해서 갖은 애를 다 썼다. 결국은 실패했던 것 처럼 보였다. 자기의 계획이 모두 되지 않고 결국은 떠나게 되었다.

1. 바울이 가이사랴로

1) 천부장의 명령

유대인 40인 특공대는 사도바울을 죽이려는 계획이 있었다. 그 계획을 알게된 천부장은 사도바울을 데리고 밤 9시에 군대를 모아서 탈출시키는 모습이 나타난다. 그런데 참 대단하다. 보병 이백 명과 기병 칠십 명과 창병 이백 명을 준비시켰다. 총 합쳐서 470명이나 되는 군대를 사도바울 한 명을 보호하기 위해서 동원시켰다. 천부장은 거느릴 수 있는 군대 수가 천 명이다. 자기가 거느라는 천 명의 부하 가운데서 거의 반에 해당하는 병졸을 시켜서 사도바울을 지키는 것을 볼 수 있다. 사도바울을 위해서 또 따로 말을 준비시킨 것을 볼 수 있다. 로마 시민권을 갖고있었던 사도바울이 얼마나 귀하게 여겨졌는지 볼 수 있다. 만일 특공대에 의해서 사도바울이 살해를 당한다면 천부장은 자기의 영역하에 그런 일이 일어났기 때문에 책임을 면하지 못한다. 40명의 특공대가 준비되었다는 소리를 듣고 열배가 더 되는 군대를 준비한다. 시민권의 위치가 대단하다. 또 27절 말씀에 천부장이 보고를 하는데 거짓 보고를 하는 것을 볼 수 있다.

행23:27 이 사람이 유대인들에게 잡혀 죽게 된 것을 내가 로마 사람인 줄 들어 알고 군대를 거느리고 가서 구원하여다가

사실 거짓말이다. 막 여러움을 당하는데 붙잡아서 치려다가 로마 시민권이라는 말을 듣고 풀어줬는데 거짓말을 하고 있다. 로마 시민권자를 함부로 결박했다가는 그렇지 않은 것 처럼 바꾸어서 보고서를 올린다. 그정도로 로마 시민권자가 막강한 힘을 갖고있었다. 여러분 로마 시민권은 천국 시민권의 모형인 것을 꼭 잡아야한다.

2) 천국 시민권자

시민권자 한 명이 어려움을 당했을 때 500명에 가까운 군대를 동원하는 모습을 보면서 영적으로 본다면 천국 시민권을 가진 우리에게는 어마어마한 영적인 현상이 생기고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 천국 시민권자는 로마 시민권자보다 훨씬 더 강력하게 보호해주는 것을 볼 수 있다.

히1:14 모든 천사들은 섬기는 영으로서 구원 받을 상속자들을 위하여 섬기라고 보내심이 아니냐

항상 구원받은 우리는 천사를 통해서 보호를 받고있다는 것이다. 사도바울이 어려움을 당하게 되니까 5백명이나 되는 군대를 동원했다. 이것을 보면서 하나님의 자녀가 사단에게 어려움을 당하고 있다면 어떤 일이 생기겠는가. 하나님의 자녀가 어려움을 당하고 있다면 하늘에서는 초긴장상태가 되는 것이다. 하나님 자녀가 주님 앞에 기도하기 시작했다면 기도하는 그 순간에 하늘 보좌에서는 어마어마한 역사가 일어나는 것이다. 하나님 자녀의 기도소리를 듣자마자 하나님은 즉시 명령을 내시리신다. 하늘의 불말과 불병거를 내려보내신다. 그것이 왕하 6:17에 나타난다. 엘리사가 아람군대에 포위되었을 때 나타난 현상이다.

왕하6:17 기도하여 이르되 여호와여 원하건대 그의 눈을 열어서 보게 하옵소서 하니 여호와께서 그 청년의 눈을 여시매 그가 보니 불말과 불병거가 산에 가득하여 엘리사를 둘렀더라

지금 사도바울이 40명에게 포위되었을 때 열 배 되는 병력을 동원했던 것과 마찬가지로 하나님의 자녀가 어려움을 당하게 되면 더 많은 불말과 불병거를 보내서 보호해주신다. 엘리사와 같이 있었던 종은 전혀 보지 못했다. 그래서 엘리사가 기도해서 이 청년이 눈을 떠서 보게해달라고 했다. 이것은 분명히 일어나는 현상이다. 우리가 어려움을 당할 때 보이지 않지만 천사를 보내주셔서 지켜주시고 인도해주신다. 왕하 19:35절에 히스가야가 기도했을 때 한 명의 천사가 와서 18만 5천명을 송장으로 만들었다.

왕하 19:35 이 밤에 여호와의 사자가 나와서 앗수르 진영에서 군사 십팔만 오천 명을 친지라 아침에 일찍이 일어나 보니 다 송장이 되었더라

우리가 하나님 앞에 기도할 때 분명히 이런 일들이 일어난다는 것이다. 저는 하나님께 기도할 때 이 말씀을 붙들고 기도하고 있다. 분명히 하나님 지금 기도할 때 하늘 군대가 동원되고 있을 줄로 믿습니다. 우리 가문의 모든 흑암권세가 예수님의 이름으로 완전히 무너지는 역사가 있게 하옵소서. 이 말씀을 생각하면서 기도하게 되면 여태까지 가문을 어렵게 만들었던 흑암의 권세가 무너진다. 교회에 역사하는 모든 흑암의 권세가 예수 이름으로 완전히 무너지게 하소서. 교회를 놓고 여러분들이 기도할 때 하늘 군대를 동원하신다. 눈에 보이지 않지만 어마어마한 역사가 일어나고 있다는 사실을 믿고 기도하시기 바란다. 이것을 놓고 기도할 때 여러분의 개인 문제 가문의 문제가 완전히 해결될 줄로 믿는다.

2. 하나님의 응답

1) 예수님의 계획

우리가 하나님의 응답을 생각할 때 무엇보다도 먼저 생각해야할 것은 예수님의 계획이다. 우리가 말씀을 보면 사도바울이 가이사랴로 가기 전에 이미 예수님께서 말씀하셨다.

행23:11 그 날 밤에 주께서 바울 곁에 서서 이르시되 담대하라 네가 예루살렘에서 나의 일을 증언한 것 같이 로마에서도 증언하여야 하리라 하시니라

사도바울이 가이사랴로 가는 것은 유대인이나 천부장 때문이 아니라 하나님의 계획인 것이다. 하나님께서 예루살렘을 떠나게하시는데 그냥 떠나게 하시는 것이 아니라 470명의 호위병을 두고 떠나게하신다. 사도바울이 힘들까봐 말까지 태워서 보내신다. 하나님의 계획을 보게되면 다른 현장으로 보내시기 위해서 특별히 보호해서 보내신다. 우리 복음가진 자들에게는 복음을 사용하시는 하나님의 계획을 순서순서마다 역사하시는 것을 볼 수 있다. 복음가진 자의 응답이라는 것은 되어지는 응답이다. 복음 중에서도 가장 중요하게 확실히 잡아야할 것은 마 16:16이다.

2) 복음 가진 자의 응답

저는 이 말씀을 놓고 기도할 때마다 너무나 중요한 말씀이라는 생각이 든다.

마 16:16 시몬 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주는 그리스도시요 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다

이 고백에 모든 것이 다 들어있다. 이 고백을 했을 때 말씀하신다.

마 16:17 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 바요나 시몬아 네가 복이 있도다 이를 네게 알게 한 이는 혈육이 아니요 하늘에 계신 내 아버지시니라

이 주는 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이십니다 고백을 하는 자가 정말로 복있는 자라는 것이다. 이 복은 세상의 어떤 복 보다도 가장 값진 진짜 복의 네가 받았구나 하는 것이다. 우리에게 있는 진짜 복이 무엇인가. 성경에서 말하는 진짜 복이 무엇인가. 창3:15 여자의 후손을 통해 뱀의 머리를 깨겠다는 언약이 성취된 것이다. 예수님은 사단의 머리를 깨뜨리신 참 왕이라는 것이다. 우리가 기도할 때 마다 이 언약을 잡아야한다. 우리 가문에 역사하는 사단의 권세가 완전히 박살난 줄로 믿는다. 뿐만 아니라 네가 선악과를 먹는 날에는 정녕 죽을 것이라고 말씀하셨다. 그 죄를 지어서 죽어버렸다. 하나님 말씀에 불순종해서 죽어버린 죄를 주님께서 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가시면서 해결하셨다. 하나님 앞에 도저히 용서받지 못할 죄를 직접 십자가에서 해결하신 참 제사장 되신 예수님을 우리가 믿는 것이다. 창 3:24을 보면 저주를 받아서 에덴 동산에서 쫓겨난다. 완전히 저주와 재앙의 세상에서 살게되었다. 이 문제를 십자가에서 완전히 해결하신 참 선지자 되신 예수님이다. 주는 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이십니다 하는 것은 이 모든 문제를 실질적으로 해결하신 그리스도이십니다 하는 것을 믿는 것이다. 이 사실을 정말 믿고 고백하는 자에게 참된 응답이 시작된다. 그래서 나타난 것이 마 16:18 말씀이다.

마 16:18 또 내가 네게 이르노니 너는 베드로라 내가 이 반석 위에 내 교회를 세우리니 음부의 권세가 이기지 못하리라

이 반석이 무엇인가. 주는 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이십니다 하는 고백을 나타낸다. 이 고백하는 자에게 내가 내 교회를 세운다는 것이다. 되어지는 축복을 주님께서 하시곘다는 것이다. 너를 사용하겠다는 것이다. 그리고 음부의 권세가 이기지 못할 것이다. 사단이 절대로 너를 이기지 못할 것이다. 네 가정, 교회를 절대로 이기 못할거야 하신 약속이다. 이 모든 것이 주는 그리스도시요 하나님의 아들이십니다 한 고백에서 나타나는 것이다. 이 말씀을 놓고 정말로 기도해보시라. 그러면 응답을 받게 될 것이다. Nobody의 응답을 받게될 것이다. 아무나 받을 수 없는 응답을 받게되는 여러분이 될 줄로 믿는다.

3. Nobody 작품

1) 절대 언약

Nobody의 응답이 무엇인가. 첫번째로 절대계획의 응답이다.

막 3:13 또 산에 오르사 자기가 원하는 자들을 부르시니 나아온지라

아무나 불른 것이 아니라 원하는 자들을 선발하셨다는 것이다. 그들을 통해서 절대 계획을 이루어나가신다. 하나님은 아무나 부르신 것이 아니다. 제자를 부르신 것과 마찬가지로 절대 계획 가운데 여러분들을 선발하셨다. 이것에 감사해야한다. 우리가 구원받은 것도 우연이 아니라 특별히 우리를 사랑하셔서 구원하신 것이다. 전 요새 40일 기도하면서 제일 먼저 기도하는 것이 구원의 은혜에 대한 감사이다. 어쩌자고 내가 구원을 받아서 하나님의 자녀가 되었는지 기적이다. 나는 우상숭배하는 집안에서 태어나서 멸망받을 수 밖에 없는 사람이었는데 어쩌자고 내가 하나님의 자녀가 되었지. 정말 하나님 감사합니다. 그 뿐만 아니라 언약 잡은 교단 속에 들어오게 해주신 것에 참 감사하다. 이 복음을 알게 하시고 누릴 수 있는 자리에 인도하신 것이 기적 중에 기적이다.

막 3:14이에 열둘을 세우셨으니 이는 자기와 함께 있게 하시고 또 보내사 전도도 하며

우리를 불러주시고 함께 계속 계실 뿐 아니라 언약의 여정 속으로 우리를 인도하셨다. 이 사도바울을 보더라도 천부장의 명령을 통해서 500명의 군사와 함께 벨릭스 총독 앞으로 가고있다. 사도바울은 벨릭스 총독을 만날 계획을 갖고 있지도 않았다. 총독이라는 것은 사도바울이 만나고싶다고 만나지는 사람이 아니다. 그런데 하나님께서 복음 가진 사도바울을 사용하셔서 만나서 복음을 전할 수 있는 기회를 주신다. 함계 있게하시고 전도도 하게 하신다는 것은 하나님이 하신다는 것이다. 벨릭스 앞에가서 복음을 또 전하는 것을 볼 수 있다. 사도바울처럼 우리가 언약의 여정 속에 있다는 것 자체가 큰 축복이다.

막 3:15 귀신을 내쫓는 권능도 가지게 하려 하심이러라

하나님 앞에 부름 받은 자는 귀신을 쫓는 권세가 주어졌다는 것이다. 우리에게는 치유의 능력이 있다. 사도바울을 우리 예수님께서 로마로 보내려고 계획을 하셨다. 그 이유가 무엇인가. 로마를 치유할 계획을 갖고계시기 때문이다. 우리 복음 가진 자를 현장에 보내는 이유는 현장을 살리라고 하시는 것이다. 우리가 메세지를 계속 받고있다. 갈 수록 정신병 시대이다. 중독은 점점 강해진다. 질병은 갖은 질병이 퍼지고 있다. 이런 가운데서 우리를 현장에 보내셨다는 사실이다. 그냥 보내신 것이 아니라 귀신을 내쫓은 권세를 주시면서 보내신다. 우리가 나가는 것은 시대를 치유하는 절대 계획의 말씀을 성취하기 위해서 나가는 것이다. 여러분들도 놓고 기도하시기 바란다. 치유에 대한 메세지가 계속 나오고 있다. 그것은 우리를 통해서 치유를 하기위해서 하나님께서 메세지를 주시는 것을 볼 수 있다. 현장에서 말씀공부하는 사람들으 바라보면서 하나님 저들의 영혼과 질병을 치유해주옵소서 하고 본격적으로 기도를 하고있다. 이것은 말씀의 흐름이요 언약의 흐름이다. 분명히 하나님께서 우리를 부르셨을 때 그 권세를 주셨다. 우리가 하는 것이 아니라 우리 안의 주님께서 하시기 때문에, 나는 절대 불가능 하지만 우리 주님은 절대 가능하기 때문에 내가 믿음을 갖고 나가면 된다.

2) 아무것도 할수 없는 상황에서 시작

두번째 Nobody의 응답은 아무것도 없는 상황에서 시작할 수 있는 것이다. 사도바울은 모든 것을 갈 2:20에서 시작한다.

갈2:20 내가 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박혔나니 그런즉 이제는 내가 사는 것이 아니요 오직 내 안에 그리스도께서 사시는 것이라 이제 내가 육체 가운데 사는 것은 나를 사랑하사 나를 위하여 자기 자신을 버리신 하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음 안에서 사는 것이라

사도바울은 여기서 시작하기 때문에 나는 완전히 죽었다는 것이다. 오직 그리스도 밖에 없다는 것이다. 모든 응답은 오직 그리스도 밖에 없다는데서 시작한다. 저는 월요일에 휴스턴에 장례식에 참여했다. 김 목사님 어머니가 소천하셔서 하관예배를 주관하게 되어 가서 말씀을 전했다. 그 때 이 말씀이 생각났다. 이 어머님은 지금 땅 속으로 들어가셔서 그 몸이 썩어버리게 될 것이다. 그러나 예수님께서 재림하실 때 그 이름을 부르실 것이다. 그 때는 완전히 신령한 몸으로 영광된 몸으로 부활하시게 될 것이다. 부활하신 몸은 썩을 몸이 아니다. 나사로도 부활했지만 다시 죽었다. 썩을 몸이었기 때문이다. 예수님께서 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하신 다음서부터 부활의 첫 열매로 영광스러운 몸으로 나오게 되었다. 그래서 성경에 말씀하시기를 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자는 부활해서 영광스러운 몸을 갖게될 것이라고 했다. 죽는 것이 축복입니다 영광스러운 몸을 갖기 위해서 반드시 있어야하는 일입니다 하고 전했다. 인간은 죽기를 싫어한다. 그런데 이 몸 갖고는 천국에 가지도 못한다. 하나님 보좌 앞에 타 없어지고 만다. 들어갈 수도 없다. 그러나 우리가 완전히 썩어질 때 변화된 영광된 몸으로 갈 수 있는 것이다. 우리의 신앙생활도 참 주님의 축복 가운데 들어가기 위해서는 갈 2:20의 삶이 되어야한다. 내가 완전히 죽어지는 삶을 살게될 때 비로소 주님의 능력을 통해서 유일성의 응답을 시작하신다. 우리는 오직 나를 구원하고 인도하실 분은 주님밖에 없습니다 하고 시작할 때 축복이 시작된다. 요셉도 노예 때 부터 시작됬다. 주님밖에 의존할 데가 없었다. 모세도 미디안 광야에서 아무것도 없을 때 시작되었다. 주님은 항상 소망이 없는 마지막 순간에 비로소 시작하신다. 우리가 진정으로 오직 주님밖에 없습니다 하고 시작하게될 때 주님께서는 비로소 시작하실 것이다.

3) 아무도 줄 수 없는 상황에서 주심

그 때 아무도 줄 수 없는 작품을 주신다.

렘33:37 너는 내게 부르짖으라 내가 네게 응답하겠고 네가 알지 못하는 크고 은밀한 일을 네게 보이리라

‘막다른 길에 다달았느냐. 네 힘으로 할 수 없음을 발견했느냐. 내게 부르짖으라. 그러면 내가 네게 응답하겠다’는 것이다. 응답 뿐 아니라 네가 알지 못하는 크고 은밀한 일까지 더해서 응답하시겠다는 것이다. 우리가 기도하는 것에 응답을 받는 것은 당연한 일이다. 그런데 성경을 보게되면 기도하지 않은 것 까지도 응답을 줄 것이라고 기록하고 있다. 류목사님이 말씀하시기를 그 응답이 진짜 응답이다. 과연 그런 것 같다. 요셉이 총리가 되기 위해서 기도한 적이 없다. 다윗은 목동 생활을 하면서 왕 되게 해달라고 기도하지 않았다. 그런데 하나님께서는 총리로 세우시고 왕으로 세우셨다. 하나님께서는 그 믿음을 보시고 작품을 만드시기 위해 하신 것이다. 인간이 상상할 수 없는 위대한 작품을 선물로 주시는 것이다. 요셉을 국무총리로 세우게 될 때 그를 통해서 이루실 작품이 있었기 때문이다. 다윗도 왕이 될 때 왕을 통해서 행하실 일이 있었기 때문에 세우신 것이다. 모든 것은 하나님께서 주관하신다. 하나님의 계획을 이룰 때까지 응답을 몰아서 주신다. 이것이 우리가 받아야할 응답이다. 여러분을 통해 하나님께서 계획하신 것이 어마어마한 줄로 믿는다. 완전히 주님앞에 맡길 때 하나님께서는 여러분들을 통해서 큰 일을 이루실 줄로 믿는다. “내가 네게 응답하겠고 네가 알지 못하는 크고 은밀한 일을 네게 보이리라” 하셨다. 이 축복받는 여러분 되시기 바란다.

결론

야곱에게 하신 말씀이다.

창28:15 내가 너와 함께 있어 네가 어디로 가든지 너를 지키며 너를 이끌어 이 땅으로 돌아오게 할지라 내가 네게 허락한 것을 다 이루기까지 너를 떠나지 아니하리라 하신지라

여러분들이 주님 앞에 부르심을 받을 때는 이미 여러분들에게 허락하신 것이 있는 줄로 믿는다. 그것을 발견하시고 집중기도 하시기 바란다. 다 이루기까지 너를 결코 떠나지 아니하리라. 응답받는 여러분 되시기 바란다.

Scripture: “ 23 And he called for two centurions, saying, 'Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at the third hour of the night; 24 and provide mounts to set Paul on, and bring him safely to Felix the governor.' 25 He wrote a letter in the following manner: 26 Claudius Lysias, To the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings. 27 This man was seized by the Jews and was about to be killed by them. Coming with the troops I rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman. 28 And when I wanted to know the reason they accused him, I brought him before their council. 29 I found out that he was accused concerning questions of their law, but had nothing charged against him deserving of death or chains. 30 And when it was told me that the Jews lay in wait for the man, I sent him immediately to you, and also commanded his accusers to state before you the charges against him. Farewell. ”

<Introduction>

As you know, Abraham Lincoln is known as the most respected President in the history of America. Many people asked him what his secret was for his success and he responded this way, “The reason why I succeeded is very simple. It is because I have experienced many failures in my life.” I am sure there wasn’t as many people who failed as many times as Lincoln but during those failed times, he didn’t fall into despair but used them as platforms to create greater and better challenges in his life. Every time he faced failure in his life, he responded that, “When the devil saw my failures, he would say things are over for me but God told me not to be afraid but to start all over again. I followed to the voice of God instead the words of the devil.” Lincoln was a man of prayer. During the most conflicted times, he clung onto God and prayed to Him. As you know the famous incident, when a janitor was cleaning late a night, he heard a loud yelling so he ran to the place where the yelling was heard and he heard Lincoln praying very loudly. You thought that Lincoln was failing but in the end, he succeeded. Even though he faced many failures, it was not over for him but what was absolute was that, he found the method of success through prayer and looking up to God at all times. Many people give up in times of failures but Lincoln sought after the keys of success through all his failures. You can see that Lincoln was a person of faith. If it was part of God’s plan then until the end, we can see that he continued to pray and receive God’s guidance. Paul came to the region of Jerusalem and tried every method possible to share the gospel to and save the Jews but in the end, we can see that he failed to do so. Nothing happened according to his plans and he ended up departing from Jerusalem.

1. Paul Goes to Caesarea

1) The command of the centurion:

When we look in today’s scripture as well as from last week’s sermon that 40 people conspired to kill Apostle Paul. But the commander who heard of this plan through Paul’s nephew took Paul, which says in the scripture at the third hour of the night. Third hour of the night in today’s terms means around 9PM and at this late of night, the commander gathered all of the soldiers to help Paul escape. But what is interesting is what is written in today’s scripture, it said that the commander bought together two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen. So, in total, the commander bought together 470 men to protect this one person, Paul. The amount of soldiers that a commander can bring together is about 1,000 and he basically was able to bring half of that to protect one person, Paul. You can see that the commander bought together the special forces to protect Paul. This shows how tremendous the identity of a Roman citizen was back then, If Paul becomes murdered, then the commander has to take responsibility and the commander couldn’t take responsibility for that. 40 people came to kill Paul but the commander prepared 100 times more people to protect Paul. Roman citizens had such amazing power and identity back then. But in today’s scripture, you can see that a commander gave a false testimony and report regarding Paul as seen in verses 22, 27 - That was honestly a lie because the commander was the one who ordered for the scourging of Paul and took him to prison but after of that scouring and mistreatment, Paul stated that he was a Roman citizen. The commander became afraid and made a false testimony and report to the governor. If he was guilty of beating and mistreating a Roman citizen without a fair trial, he knew he had to complete responsibility for it so he changed the situation and his words to make it seem like he didn’t any of that. From this, you can see that Roman citizens had such power back then. When a Roman citizen was in trouble, you can see that 470 men were sent to protect Paul. But if you look at this spiritually, as children of God, God sends His heavenly armies to protect us wherever we go. Being a heavenly citizen, we have more tremendous protection than Roman citizens had back then.

2) Heavenly citizen:

Hebrew 1:14 (“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?”) - This shows that as children of God, we are always receiving protection from angels. Since Paul was in trouble, 470 soldiers were commissioned out to protect him and when we see this, what happens when children of God are experiencing trouble from Satan? God becomes fully aware of the difficulty and hardships that children of God are facing and thousands of heavenly armies are commissioned down from heaven to protect His children. God hears the prayers of His children and sends down His heavenly armies to protect and answer us.

This was what happened to Elisha in 2 Kings 6:17 (“And Elisha prayed, and said, 'Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.' Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”) - When Paul saw the 40 men after him, the 479 men were sent to protect him but when children of God are in trouble, thousands of heavenly armies will come down and protect His children. Elisha understood and saw this but his servant couldn’t so Elisha prayed to have his servant open his eyes so he could see. When we are in trouble, without us being able to see it but thousands of heavenly armies are at work and with us.

When King Hezekiah prayed, God sent down one angel that completely broken down and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in 2 Kings 19:35 (“And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.”). When we pray to God, then God will absolutely work and answer. This is how I pray nowadays. I pray confirming the work of the heavenly armies and pray for the darkness that is working to be completely broken down in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. I am also praying for the darkness to completely broken down within the church. When we pray for the church, these tremendous spiritual works are taking place. When we pray, the darkness working within our ourselves and family line problems are completely solved. What we need to seek first is God’s plan.

2. God’s Answer

1) Jesus’ Plan:

We can see before Paul received God’s Word, you can see that God’s Word already came down to him in Acts 22:21 (“Then He said to me, ‘Depart, for I will send you far from here to the Gentiles.’ ”) - Paul was not being chased out to the Gentiles but God already promised him the Word of God that he will be sent to the Gentiles. Paul did not go because of the Jews or the fact that the commander sent him but it was God who sent him. He didn’t just go alone but when he went, 470 soldiers protected him along the way. He didn’t just walk there but God allowed him to be sent on a horse since it was a long journey there. When you discover God’s plan, then God will protect you to go to the fields that God has prepared. If you hold onto the gospel, then we who possess the gospel, wherever we go, we can discover God’s plan and His plan being fulfilled each step that we take within our journeys. The answer of those who have the gospel is the answer that shows the absolute work of God and an answer that will absolutely be fulfilled.

2) The answer of those with the gospel:

What we must absolutely hold onto before anything else, it is Matthew 16:16-18 (“Simon Peter answered and said, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' 17 Jesus answered and said to him, 'Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”) - Whenever I think of this message, I can’t think of anything more important than this. We can see the complete confession of the fact that Jesus is the Christ within this Biblical scripture. The moment Peter confessed that Jesus was the Christ, the tremendous blessings was given down to him. Anyone who confesses that Jesus is the Christ, Jesus said is the most blessed. The fact that we are the most blessed, we are not talking about the “blessings” or “good things” of this world. What is the true blessing?

It is the blessing to overcome Satan through Jesus Christ with the covenant being fulfilled as seen in Genesis 3:15 (“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”) as our True King. We need to pray with this covenant. The darkness working within ourselves, family, and family line will be completely broken down when we confess of Jesus as the Christ. The moment Adam and Eve ate the fruit, they spiritually died but Jesus Christ died on the cross to forgive us of this sin (Genesis 2:17 (“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”)). We are believing in Jesus Christ as our True Priest who completely solved us of our fundamental, original sin that was completely unforgivable but He solved it once in for all by dying on the cross for us. Genesis 3:24 (“So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.”) - Mankind got casted out of Eden after breaking God’s covenant and eating the fruit of good and evil. After they were casted out of Garden of Eden, they lived a life of sins and curses but Jesus Christ as the True Prophet to solve us from this condemnation of death. Confessing that Jesus is the Christ is believing that Jesus Christ has completely finished us of these three fundamental problems. Those who truly confess and believe in this, the start of true answers will come upon them.

When we confess that Jesus is the Christ, then the blessings of Matthew 16:18 comes upon us. The first blessing is the church being built on this rock, the rock refers to those who confess that Jesus is the Christ. Those who confess that Jesus is the Christ, God said that He will build His church through them. This means that God will answer and use you. The gates of Hades cannot overcome you and Satan can never be able to overcome us, our family, and church. These are the promises that God gave to us. These works arises through those who make the confession that Jesus is the Christ. Do you believe in this? Truly enjoy this blessing. Truly pray with this confession and pray. Then, we can receive answers. We can also receive the answer of “Nobody” as given within the message of 237 center from the Headquarters (HQ) message. This is a message that nobody else can receive. Then, what is the message of Nobody?

3. Masterpieces No One Else Can Make

1) the absolute covenant:

Mark 3:13-15 (“And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. 14 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, 15 and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons.”) - In other words, when Jesus Christ called His disciples, He didn’t just call out random people but He called out those who He wanted. This shows the absolute plan of God. God called you not because of a random picking but you were called within His absolute plan. You need to thankful for that. The fact that we have received salvation, this was not a mere coincidence but He picked you because He wanted you. What I pray for first is the thanksgiving of the salvation that God has given to me. I was born into an idol worshipping family but how is that within this background, God has chosen me and given me salvation? What is more absolute is that God allowed me to enter into His absolute covenant. What is more tremendous than this? God has given me the gospel and allowed me to know and enjoy it. Mark 3:13-15 - It is a blessing that God has chosen us but on top of that, He has given us the power to go out and stand as His witnesses to share the gospel.

Through the commander of the Roman army, he was sent out to go to the governor. Paul was someone who wanted to meet the governor, Felix. The governor is not someone that you can just meet because you want to but God used the evangelist, Paul who had the gospel to meet the governor. You can see that evangelism is something that God does completely. When he meets the governor later in the chapter, you can see that Paul was able to share the gospel to him. In other words, people who are within the covenantal journey just like Paul and us, it is a tremendous blessing.

Mark 3:15 - Those who have been called by God, we have been given the power and authority to cast out demons. We have the power to heal. God told Paul the plan to send him out to Rome. Why did God want Paul to go to Rome? God had a plan in Rome for Paul and the reason was to heal the field. We have already spoke of this but the rate of mental illnesses is getting worse but within this, God has sent us out to the field. God doesn’t just send us out to the field but He sends us out with power to break down Satan and to heal. We are going out to the field with the covenant of healing. Many of the messages that we have received have been about healing then this means that we need to start the healing movement within our lives. As we look at the people we minister to and the fields that we enter into, we need to pray that God may heal them and the fields. Then, we can see the flow of the message and the flow of healing. This is the message that God has prepared for us but what is important is that this is not something that we are doing but something God is doing. For us, it is impossible but for God, it is possible. That is why we must go out with faith.

2) Starting from a place where nothing can be done:

We can see that Paul started everything with the confession of Galatians 2:20 (“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”) - Paul started here. He confessed that he was completely dead and the only thing that he held onto was only Christ. The answer to all things was only Christ and he started with this answer. Last week I went attend a funeral in Houston. A pastor in Houston, his mother passed away so I attended her funeral and gave a message there. When I gave the message, I said, “Her body will start rotting now that she has passed away but when Jesus Christ calls her, she will resurrect into a glorious, spiritual body. The body that will resurrect, it is a body that will not rot and become a new body. Lazarus was someone who died but resurrected but he died again. Why was that? It was because he possessed a physical, perishable body. When Jesus Christ died and resurrected, He became the first fruit of life. That is why the Bible tells us that anyone who dies within Christ, they will become a new, glorious spiritual body. That is why death to us is a blessing because when we pass way, we are transformed into a glorious, spiritual body. This was what I said at the funeral.

So many nonbelievers don’t want to die and will do anything to prevent their death. But with our physical body, we cannot go to heaven. Our physical bodies will all wither and perish after we die, and we can’t enter into heaven with our physical bodies. But after we die, we are transformed into a glorious, spiritual body and with that new body we can enter into heaven.

This is the same thing within our walk of faith. Just like our bodies are transformed into a glorious bodies after we die, in order for us to receive God’s tremendous blessings, we must start from Galatians 2:20. When we are able to start a life where we are no longer alive but God lives through us, then we can experience the power and working of the Holy Spirit and God’s power to enjoy the blessings of a new life. When we are able to confess that the only one who can save and guide us is Christ alone, then blessings have no choice but to come upon us. Joseph started this way when he was in slavery, he had no choice but to rely on God alone. Also for Moses, when he was in Midian where he had nothing, that was when everything started for him. During the most direst situations, we can see that within those exact critical moments, God starts His work. When we are able to confess that Jesus is the Christ and that He is only one who can help you then we are able to completely lay everything down before God and He will start His work.

3) God give what no one else can:

Jeremiah 33:3 (“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”) - Not only will God answer us but He promised us that He will show us unexpected things which we do not know. It is without a doubt that when we pray, we will answers but even though we may be lacking in prayer, the Bible tells us that God will still answer us. Rev. Kwang-su Ryu said that is the true answer. I agree as well. Joseph never prayed to become a governor and David never prayed to become a king when he was a shepherd but God still raised them up as a governor and king. Why? God saw their faith and made their lives into a masterpiece. To His children, God has prepared things that we will never expect. God raised Joseph as a governor because there was a masterpiece that God wanted to make through Joseph’s life. And, the reason why God raised David as a King was because there was something that God wanted to fulfill within David’s life as a king. This is because God directs and controls all things. In order for God’s will to be fulfilled, we can see that answers are constantly arising for that to happen. This is the answer that we must receive. Through you, I truly believe that God has prepared tremendous blessings. When you completely entrust all things to God, then He will do great and mighty works through you. Jeremiah 33:3 - God promised that He will show us great and mighty things, which we do not know. May we enjoy these blessings within our lives.

<Conclusion>

This was the message that God gave to Jacob in Genesis 28:15 (“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”) - When God had called us, there are things that God has already approved and granted. When we discover what that is. And, focus and concentrate within that. God said that He will not leave us until what He has promised is fulfilled through us. May we receive answers in the name of Jesus Christ.
