노아의 가문을 세우게 된 믿음 (히11:7)

서론

제가 우리 교회 다니시지 않지만 미국교회를 다니고 계신 분과 말씀을 나누고 있다. 그 분이 저한테 질문하셨다. 복음을 잡는다는 것이 무슨 말씀입니까. 내가 지금 복음을 잡고 있습니까 안잡고 있습니까 하고 물었다. 그래서 제가 보기에는 집사님이 복음을 알고있는데 잡고있지는 못하고 있다고 했다. 혹시 렘넌트들 중에도 이런 사람이 있는지 모르겠다. 그래서 이것을 확실히 이야기 해야겠다는 마음이 들었다. 복음을 알고있으나 내가 사실적으로 나의 것이 되지 않는 것은 복음을 잡은 것이 아니다. 류목사님 예를 들어보겠다. 류목사님이 복음을 잡기 전에 아주 어려운 일이 많았다. 교회를 다녔는데도 불구하고 계속 문제가 생기고 일이 해결이 안되었다. 책을 보다가 마 16:16에 대한 책을 보았다고 한다. 거기 그리스도에 대한 것을 기록하고 있는데 사단을 이기신 왕, 재앙을 막는 제사장, 하나님의 자녀되는 길 되신 선지자가 그리스도라 하는 것을 보았다. 이전에도 많이 들었던 말씀이었다. 그런데 그 날 따라 그 말씀이 자기 말씀에 들어왔다. 그 때야 아 예수님이 그리스도시구나 하는 것이 마음에 와닿았다. 그렇다면 내 집안에 모든 문제가 끝난거 아닌가 하는 마음이 들었다. 그 때 그 마음이 들면서부터 응답이 오기 시작했다. 참 중요한 이야기이다. 성경에서도 여러 예가 나타난다. 요셉의 형들은 같이 복음을 알고 있었음에도 말씀을 잡지 못했다. 그러나 요셉은 말씀을 잡았다. 잘 알고계시는 기생 라합도 마찬가지이다. 이스라엘 백성들이 하나님의 능력으로 홍해를 가르는 역사가 나타났다 하고 이야기를 들었을 때 라합은 정말로 하나님 살아계시구나, 여리고는 곧 무너지겠구나 하고 알았던 것이다. 이게 말씀을 잡는 것이다. 그러니까 정탐꾼이 와서도 자기를 기억해달라고 부탁했다. 정확한 말씀을 잡으면 정확한 응답을 받기 시작한다. 오늘도 여러분께서 이 말씀을 정확히 잡게될 때, 6일간 묵상을 하게되면 반드시 놀라운 역사가 나타나게될 줄로 믿는다.

1. 노아의 믿음

1) 당세에 완전한 자

오늘도 아주 중요한 말씀을 주고 계신다. 잘 아시는 노아에 대한 이야기이다.

창 6:9 이것이 노아의 족보니라 노아는 의인이요 당대에 완전한 자라 그는 하나님과 동행하였으며

이 말씀에서 꼭 잡아야할 것은 완전한 자가 무슨 의미인가 하는 것이다. 완전한 자는 이 세상에서 죄가 전혀 없다는 의미가 아니다. 세상의 죄와 싸우면서 믿음으로 사는 사람이라는 것을 나타낸다. 또 동행하는 자라 말씀하고 있다. 간단히 말씀드리면 동행하는 자는 전도와 영혼구원에 힘쓰는 사람이 동행하는 자이다. 성경을 보게되면 세상 끝날까지 항상 함께 있으리라고 말씀하셨다. 성경에서는 전도하는 자와 함께하겠다고 계속 말씀하고 계신다. 지난 시간에 에녹도 300년 동안 그런 삶을 살았다. 이 노아에게 오늘 본문에 믿음으로 노아는 아직 보지 않는 일에 경고하심을 받았다고 말하고 있다.

히 11:7 믿음으로 노아는 아직 보이지 않는 일에 경고하심을 받아 경외함으로 방주를 준비하여 그 집을 구원하였으니 이로 말미암아 세상을 정죄하고 믿음을 따르는 의의 상속자가 되었느니라

경고하심을 받았다는 것은 하나님의 지시를 받았다는 것이다. 창 6:13에서 기록하고 있다.

창 6:13 하나님이 노아에게 이르시되 모든 혈육 있는 자의 포악함이 땅에 가득하므로 그 끝 날이 내 앞에 이르렀으니 내가 그들을 땅과 함께 멸하리라

하나님의 심판에 대한 말씀을 누구에게 주셨냐하면 동행하는 자에게 주신 말씀이다. 여러분도 이 메세지를 들으시기 바란다. 이 말씀이 여러분들에게 성취되기를 바란다. 그 말씀을 들은 노아는 경외함으로 방주를 준비했다고 나온다. 이 경외라는 것은 거룩한 두려움이라는 의미를 갖고있다. 이 두려움은 무서움을 나타내는 것이 아닌 존경하는 마음을 나타낸다. 하나님의 어마어마한 영광을 바라보고 고개를 숙이며 바짝 엎드리는 것이다. 경외하는 자는 세상의 어떤 조롱과 핍박도 이겨낼 수 있는 힘이 있다. 경외하는 자는 말씀을 생명을 다해서 받고 지키는 믿음을 갖게된다. 이 하나님을 경외하는 노아가 창 6:14 말씀을 받았다.

2) 경외하는 믿음

창 6:14 너는 잣나무로 너를 위하여 방주를 짓되 그 안에 간들을 막고 역청으로 그 안팎에 칠하라

이 말씀을 받고 방주를 만드는데 15절 말씀을 보면 그 길이가 135m, 폭은 22.5m, 높이가 13.5m, 아파트 3층 높이, 무게는 2만 1천톤이나 되는 방주를 만들었다. 노아가 얼마나 신실한 사람이었던지 120년 동안 방주를 만들었다.

창 6:22 노아가 그와 같이 하여 하나님이 자기에게 명하신 대로 다 준행하였더라

하나님을 경외하는 노아는 하나님께서 말씀주신 그대로 100% 완전히 준행했다. 만일에 노아가 100% 순종하지 않고 99%만 순종했다면 어떤 일이 생겼겠는가. 그 1% 때문에 방주가 폭풍 가운데 깨졌을지도 모른다. 그러나 노아는 정말로 신실하게 철저하게 하나님 말씀을 준행했다. 참 중요한 말씀인 것 같다. 우리가 하나님 말씀을 받을 때 완전히 믿고 그대로 순종하는 것이 얼마나 귀중하냐를 가르쳐주고 있다. 이것을 통해서 본문 말씀에 이로 말미암아 세상을 정죄했다고 나온다.

2. 믿음의 상속자

1) 세상을 정죄

세상을 정죄했다는 것은 방주를 만드는 노아의 가족들을 조롱하는 사람이 있었다는 말이다. 그들에게 하나님 심판이 있을 것이다 하면서 경고를 선포했다. 그 때 당시는 창 6장에도 나오지만 가인의 후손들의 죄악이 절정에 이르는 시기였다. 너무나 악이 가득차서 생각하는 모든 것 까지도 악이 가득찼다. 시대 상황을 보면 어떤 시대였는가. 에녹의 나이가 308세 되던해 므두셀라가 233세가 되던 해에 인류의 조상이 되는 아담이 죽음을 맞이한다. 아담이 살았을 때는 그래도 아마 우리가 믿음을 회복하고 잘 살고 하나님 말씀을 지키면 에덴 동산에 다시 들어갈 수 있을거야 하는 기대를 갖고 살았을지 모른다. 성경 말씀을 보게되면 모든 사람들이 다 큰 충격을 받았던 것을 볼 수 있다. 심지어 언약의 후손되는 셋의 후손까지도 완전히 타락해서 불신자와 마음대로 결혼하고 다니는 삶을 살았다. 하나님께서는 언약의 백성까지도 타락하는 모습을 보시면서 말씀하셨다.

창 6:3 여호와께서 이르시되 나의 영이 영원히 사람과 함께 하지 아니하리니 이는 그들이 육신이 됨이라 그러나 그들의 날은 백이십 년이 되리라 하시니라

온 세사잉 다 육신으로 변했다는 것이다. 하나님의 영이 떠나게 되면 인간은 동물로 바뀌게 된다. 더군다나 사단이 인간에게 역사하기 때문에 짐승보다 더 악한 존재가 된다. 성경의 기록을 보게되면 이것은 사람사는 세상이 아니라 지옥같은 세상이었다. 하나님께서는 물로 심판하실 것을 결정하셨다. 그러나 120년의 기간을 줄 것이라고 하셨다. 이것은 물론 방주를 만든 시간이지만 하나님께서 회개를 할 시간을 주신 것이다.

벧전 3:20 그들은 전에 노아의 날 방주를 준비할 동안 하나님이 오래 참고 기다리실 때에 복종하지 아니하던 자들이라 --

이 말씀을 보게되면 방주를 120년동안 만들 때 하나님께서는 오래참고 기다리셨다고 말하고 있다. 그들이 돌아오기를 기다렸다는 것이다. 노아와 가족들이 선포하는 복음의 말씀을 듣고 돌아오기를 기다리셨다. 그러나 돌아오지 못했다고 나온다.

2) 의의 상속자

오늘 말씀에 노아는 믿음을 따르는 의의 상속자가 되었다고 나온다. 우리가 여기서 붙잡아야할 것은 노아가 홍수사건 이후에 완전하고 의로운 자가 된 것이 아니고 경고가 있기 전에 이미 그는 의로운 자고 동행하는 완전한 자라고 말하고 있다. 그러면 어떻게 노아가 이처럼 완전하고 의로운 자가 될 수 있었는가. 저절로 되는 것이 아니다. 그 믿음을 가진 의의 조상들이 노아를 놓고 집중적으로 언약을 전달했다는 의미를 갖고있다. 우리는 성경을 통해서 그 원인을 찾아볼 수 있다. 할아버지 되는 에녹은 하나님과 300년 동안 동행했다. 그는 이미 세상 심판이 있을 것이라는 사실을 알고 있었다. 그리고 복음을 전파했다. 복음을 전하다가 하나님께서는 그를 사랑하심으로 죽음을 보지 않고 승천할 수 있도록 축복하셨다. 그 아들 므두셀라는 에녹과 함께 300년을 동행했다. 자기 아버지가 어떤 신앙을 갖고 어떻게 생활하고 어떤 말씀을 선포했는지를 잘 알고있었다. 그리고 자기 이름이 내가 죽으면 심판이 올 것이라는 의미를 갖고있는 것도 잘 알고있었다. 이 므두셀라는 그 신앙을 갖고 노아에게 정확하게 복음을 심어주었다. 므두셀라가 노아하고 6백년동안을 같이 살았다. 죽을 때 보면 홍수가 나는 바로 전 달에 죽는 것을 볼 수 있다. 120년 동안 만들 동안에 므두셀라는 노아와 함께 방주를 만들었던 것이다. 이 기간을 보게되면 아마 므두셀라는 노아 방주에 문을 열어놓고 많은 짐승들이 들어가기 시작할 때 숨을 거두지 않았나 한다. 그동안에 얼마나 노아에게 확실한 언약을 심어주었겠는가. 더군다나 노아는 홍수심판이 있을 것이라는 말씀을 하나님께 직접 들었던 사람이다. 견고하게 믿음이 서게 되는 것이다. 그래서 노아를 성경에서는 의의 상속자라고 이야기하고 있다. 가문으로 부터 내려온 복음을 잡고 후대에게 연결해준 연결자라는 말이다. 노아가 복음을 몰랐다면 창 3장 사건은 우리도 지금 모를 것이다. 여자의 후손에 대한 비밀도 전혀 모르고 신앙생활 할 것이다. 그 의의 조상으로부터 전해들은 복음을 알고있다가 후손에게 전함으로서 나중에 모세에게 전달되고 모세오경으로 기록되어 책까지 만들어진 것이다. 성경을 보게되면 우리가 잡은 언약을 후대에게 확실히 전해야지만 후대가 살 수 있다는 것을 발견할 수 있다. 만약에 전하지 않는다면 영원히 복음이 끊기는 것이다. 언약잡은 우리의 사명이 큰 줄로 믿는다. 그렇다면 여기서 우리가 잡아야할 것은 방주의 비밀이다.

3. 믿음의 상속자가 누릴 복음

1) 방주의 비밀

방주라고 하면 단순히 그리스도를 상징하고 있어, 그 속에 들어가는 사람은 다 살아 하고 이야기한다. 그 말씀이 맞는 말씀이다. 오늘 말씀을 통해서 좀 더 깊은 의미를 붙잡아야겠다.

창 6:14 너는 잣나무로 너를 위하여 방주를 짓되 그 안에 간들을 막고 역청으로 그 안팎에 칠하라

여기서 역청을 바르라고 하는데 이 역청이 히브리 말로 코페르라고 한다. 이 코페르의 동사형이 카파르라 하는 단어이다. 카파르라는 것은 칠하다 하는 의미를 갖고있다. 칠하는 것을 발랐다는 것이다. 그런데 출 30:10 말씀에 속죄제라고 하는 말이 세 번 나온다. 거기에 카파르라는 단어가 세 번이 나타난다. 그런데 이것은 성경에서 카파르를 칠하다 하는 것이 아니라 속죄제라는 단어로 쓰고 있다. 다시 말씀드리면 그리스도의 피를 상징한다. 그렇다면 방주 안이고 밖이고 발랐던 역청은 바로 영적인 의미로서 그리스도의 속죄의 피로 발랐다는 것이다. 방주에 역청을 칠할 때 대충 칠하는 것이 아니라 완전히 철저하게 안팎을 틈이 없도록 칠했다. 하나님께서 칠하라 했다고 대충 칠하는 것이 아니라 나무가 완전히 보이지 않도록 칠했을 것이다. 이것은 무엇을 의미하는가. 바로 방주는 그리스도의 속죄의 피가 안팎으로 철철 흐르는 그리스도를 상징한다. 그리스도의 속죄의 피가 흐르는 주님의 몸 속으로 들어가기만 하면 어떤 죄인도 살 수 있다.

창 6:16 거기에 창을 내되 위에서부터 한 규빗에 내고 그 문은 옆으로 내고 상 중 하 삼층으로 할지니라

방주는 네모난 상자 통을 만들었다고 생각하면 된다. 그것을 역청으로 안팎을 칠했다. 그게 비를 맞으면 어떻겠는가. 물이 위에 찰 데가 없어서 옆으로 다 흘러내린다. 우리가 생각하는 배를 만들면 물이 차면 기울어지고 넘어진다. 이것은 뒤집어지지 않는가. 그냥 항상 평평하게 떠다닌다. 더 중요한 것은 창을 만드는데 위에 하나만 만들었다. 오직 한 군데만 바라볼 수 밖에 없다. 이것은 무엇을 의미하는가. 그리스도 안에 있는 너희는 오직 하나님만 바라보라는 것이다. 하나님만 바라볼 때 삶의 소망이 나타난다. 세상 심판을 왜 받게 되었는가. 하나님을 바라보지 않고 세상 쫓아다니다가 세상 심판을 당했다. 하나님만 바라보게 되면 산다. 보혈의 피의 능력을 누리고 체험할 수 있는 축복의 역사가 나타난다. 저 중요한 것이 창 7:18에 나타난다.

창 7:18 물이 더 많아져 땅에 넘치매 방주가 물 위에 떠 다녔으며

이 하나님께서 기록하기를 방주가 물에 떠서 떠나녔다고 말씀하고 있다. 이것은 방주가 다니다가 큰 바위나 절벽에 부딪히는 일 없이 안전하게 떠다녔다는 것이다. 물에 떠다니는 방주를 하나님께서는 불꽃같은 눈으로 지켜보시고 인도하셨다는 것이다. 방주에는 방향키가 없었다. 엔진도 없었다. 노나 돛같은 것도 없었다. 그냥 떠다니는 것이다. 누가 운전하는가. 만왕의 왕되신 하나님께서 직접 운전하신 것이다. 폭풍이 몰아치는데도 하나님께서 운전하시니까 가장 안전하게 다닌 것이다. 하나님께서 함께하시니까 하나님 계획대로 모든 것이 이루어진다. 이게 방주의 비밀이다. 내 뜻대로 하다가는 망하는 것이다. 아무리 수영을 잘해도 물 밖에 나오면 죽는다. 내가 사는 길을 내 인생을 하나님께 드리라는 것이다. 내 뜻대로 사려고 하다가는 물에 빠져 죽는다. 정말 붙잡으시기 바란다. 인생을 하나님께 맡기게 될 때는 키도 없고 노도 없고 엔진도 없는데 하나님께서는 가장 안전한데로 인도하신다. 심판을 받은 사람들은 어떤 사람들인가. 그런게 필요없다는 사람들이었다. 그렇게 사는게 아니라고 지혜롭게 말한 세상 사람들이 바로 멸망을 당했다. 축복받는 여러분 되시기 바란다.

2) 서밋의 길 7가지

그러므로 우리가 서밋의 길 7가지를 붙잡아야겠다. 우리가 잘 아는바와 마찬가지로 유대인들은 세상에서 노벨상의 4분의 1 이상을 차지할 정도로 아주 세상적으로 많이 성공을 한 족속이다. 어떤 방법으로 그렇게 했는가. 유대인을 서밋으로 키우는 교육 방법이 있었다. 우리는 유대인을 능가해야한다. 그래야 유대인을 살랄 수가 있다. 그러므로 서밋의 7가지 비밀을 유대인과 비교해서 확실하게 잡는 여러분 되시기 바란다. 유대인들은 교육시킬 때 태어날 때 부터 쉐마 토라 탈무드를 암송시킨다. 그래서 항상 율법적인 삶을 살 수 있도록 교육시킨다. 우리 복음가진 사람은 어떻게 해야하는가. 렘넌트에게 성경을 가르치고 복음을 정확히 가르치는 것이 중요하다. 복음을 알게 하는 것이 아니라 복음을 누리게 만들어야한다. 복음을 잡도록 만들어서 달란트를 발견하게 만들어야한다. 그리고 자신의 삶을 통해서 하는 것이 아니라 성령의 능력을 통해서 살아갈 수 있도록 영성 준비를 시켜야한다. 두번째로 유대인들은 어렸을 때 부터 성경에 나타나는 위대한 위인들 이야기를 들려주면서 잠에든다. 그래서 우리 믿음의 영웅들이 이렇게 참았던 것처럼 너희들도 참고 믿음을 지키면 승리하게 될 것이라는 것을 심어준다. 그러나 우리는 그렇게 해서는 안된다. 믿음의 영웅들을 바라보면서 일곱 렘넌트들을 바라보면서 그들에게 하나님이 행하신 능력을 보는 눈이 뜰 수 있도록 도와야한다. 하나님께서 하시는구나, 방주에서 봤듯이 하나님께서 인도하시는구나 하는 것을 보여주는 것이 올바른 교육방법이다. 또 유대인들은 유월절 오순절 수장절을 지키게 만든다. 항상 너희는 이 역사적인 사실을 믿어야된다 하면서 가르친다. 그러나 우리는 그래서는 안된다. 행 1:1, 3, 8 그리스도, 하나님 나라를 누리게 만들어주고 성령충만함으로 세상을 정복하는 것을 가르쳐줘야한다. 유대인들은 안식일을 철저하게 지킨다. 그러나 우리는 주일 예배를 지킨다. 그리고 주일날 받은 말씀을 통해서 평일날 응답받는 삶을 산다. 유대인들은 성인식을 통해서 전문성을 키워준다. 그러나 우리는 그리스도 안에서 오직을 찾는 전문성을 준비시켜야한다. 다시 말씀드리면 우리 전문성이라는 것은 그리스도 안에서 이루어져야한다는 것이다. 유대인들은 회당을 통해서 공동체 의식을 키우고 선민 의식을 심어준다. 우리는 복음을 통해서 하나님 나라를 위해서 사회성을 준비해나가는 것이다. 모든 방향에 하나님 나라에 맞추어야한다. 유대인들은 성공자를 모아서 로지 교육을 시킨다. 우수한 사람들을 따로 모아서 집중적으로 훈련시킨다. 이 교육은 미국에서도 실시되고 있다. 옛날에 막내 바이올린 할 때 보니까 미국에서 실력 좋은 사람들을 모아서 회비내고 우수한 선생들이 와서 가르치는 것을 보았다. 유대인들이 바로 다방면에 우수한 사람들이 와서 붙여서 교육을 시킨다. 그래서 최고 지도자, 노벨상 수상자들을 만들어낸다. 우리는 그보다도 더 우월할 재창조의 역사를 이루어야할 줄로 믿는다. 우리 렘넌트들은 시대를 바꿀 수 있는 인물이 되어야한다. 무엇에서 시작되는가. 영적 서밋이 되는 것에서부터 시작한다. 영적서밋이 될 때는 시대를 바꾸는 놀라운 역사가 나타날 줄로 믿는다.

결론

마 24:38-39 홍수 전에 노아가 방주에 들어가던 날까지 사람들이 먹고 마시고 장가 들고 시집 가고 있으면서 39 홍수가 나서 그들을 다 멸하기까지 깨닫지 못하였으니 인자의 임함도 이와 같으리라

노아가 있을 때 악이 극에 달했던 시절이 마지막에 똑같이 나타나게될 것이다. 지금 그런 시대가 오고 있는 줄로 믿는다. 에녹이 가졌던 신앙, 므두셀라가 가졌던 신앙, 노아가 가졌던 신앙이 여러분의 신앙이 되기를 바란다. 여러분들만이 세상을 살릴 수 있는 세상의 파수꾼인 줄로 믿는다. 이 축복 받는 여러분 되시기 바란다.

“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”

Introduction

I am having Bible study with an individual who doesn’t come to our church. He asked me a question, he asked me what it means to hold onto the gospel? How do I know if I am holding onto the gospel or not? When I looked at this deacon, I told him that he knows the gospel but he isn’t able to hold onto it. Among you remnants, I am not sure if there are remnants like this right now. That is why I wanted to address this today. You know the gospel but you are not able to realistically make the gospel your own. This means that you are not holding onto the gospel. Let me give you an example. Rev. Kwang-su Ryu said that before he knew the gospel, he experienced many great difficulties within his life. Despite attending church, he kept facing problems that he couldn’t solve. As he was reading a book, he read something that spoke about the Bible verse of Matthew 16:16. This verse speaks about Jesus Christ, the Christ who broke the powers of Satan as the true king, the Christ who showed the way to God as the prophet, and the priest who solved the problems of mankind. We have heard this before but that day, this word really hit his heart. From that day on, he was able to realize that Jesus is the Christ. If that is so, he realized that all of his family line was all finished. When He gained that reassurance, answers started coming to him. This is an important message. From the Bible, Joseph’s brothers knew the gospel but they couldn’t hold onto it. But Joseph held onto the gospel. Also, Rahab. When Rahab heard about how the Red Sea split, she knew that the Wall of Jericho would fall and that God was truly alive. This is what it means to hold onto the word of God. That is why she requested the spies to remember her. When you hold onto the accurate gospel, then you will receive accurate answers. When you hold onto the accurate word today and meditate on it, then astounding works will happen for you. Today’s message is very important. As you know very well, it is speaking about the faith of Noah.

1. Noah's Faith

1) A blameless man of his time

Genesis 6:9 “This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.” - We need to hold onto the one who is perfect in his generation. Perfect in your generations doesn’t mean that you are sinless but it means that he continued in faith despite all of the wickedness within this world. It also said that Noah walked with God. What does it mean to walk with God? Simply put, he lived the life of an evangelist. The Bible promises us that God will be with us till the ends of the Earth. The Bible promises that God will be the evangelist till the ends of the Earth. Last week we spoke about how Enoch also walked with God for 300 years.

Verse 7 - “…Divinely warned of things not yet seen…” - Means that Noah received warning and direction from God.

The content of what was shown in Noah is shown in Genesis 6:13 “And God said to Noah, 'The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.' ” - May you also listen to this message. May this word become fulfilled in your life. Moved with godly fear means that he had righteous fear of God. This doesn’t mean that he feared God out of fear but he feared God out of awe and respect. When you fear God, then you will gain the power and strength to overcome all things and obstacles of this world. Those who truly fear God, they possess the faith to overcome all things.

2) Faith of godly fear

Noah who feared God received the word of Genesis 6:14, 22 “Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. 22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.” - When Noah was making the ark, the ark was 137 meters long, width of 23 meters, and 14 meters tall. As well as the ark weighed approximately 1322 tons. Noah was so strong that he built the ark for 120 years.

Genesis 6:22 - Noah who feared God, he held onto God’s word as 100% and did exactly what God commanded him to do. If Noah didn’t obey God 100% but obeyed God 99%, then what would’ve happened? Because of that 1%, the ark might have broken apart when the flood came. But Noah truly and earnestly obeyed and kept God’s word. This is a very important message. When we receive God’s word, we need to believe in it 100%.

Through this, we can focus on today’s biblical scripture. Condemned the world means that there were those who disobeyed and ignored God’s word while Noah was building the ark. When God gave the warning of the flood, there were those who ignored and condemned God’s judgment and word.

2. Heir of Faith

1) Judgment against the world

Genesis 6 - There were sins of the descendants of Cain. There was so much sin and wickedness that the world became so corrupted and sinful. What kind of age was this age? Enoch was 318 years old and Methuselah was 243 years old and during this time, Adam died. If the people held onto the fact that if they held onto God’s word again, they could enter the Garden of Eden once again and return back to God. But if you look at today’s Biblical Scripture, all people were shocked when Adam died. His entire descendants had fallen into sin and the wrath of God, and everyone lived sinful against God. They were engaging in homosexuality and other ways of sin.

Genesis 6:3 “And the Lord said, 'My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.' ” - When Satan acts and works, then people become more wicked and evil. When you look at the recordings of the Bible, the world became not a word that was created by God but was like hell. At that time, God decided to bring judgment onto this world. God said that He will give the world 120 years. Even though this was the time to build the ark, this was the time where God poured down His grace for people to return back to Him and repent.

1 Peter 3:20 “Who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.” - When you look at this world, you can see that God was waiting patiently for the people to return back to Him and repent. God was waiting for them to return back to Him. When Noah was proclaiming the gospel, God was waiting for the people to return back to the word of God.

But we know that people did not return to God's word. Noah became the heir of righteousness. We need to hold onto from here that Noah didn’t become righteous because he built the ark but he became righteous before due to his faith. How did Noah become righteous? This didn’t happen randomly but Noah’s descendants were proclaiming the gospel religiously. Noah’s grandfather, Enoch, walked with God for 300 years and he knew that the judgment of the world would come. He also proclaimed the gospel wherever he went. When he proclaimed the gospel, God was pleased with Enoch that He didn’t allow Enoch to see death. Methuselah, Enoch’s son, walked with God as well. He saw how his father, Enoch, who was living a life with God for 300 years. He also was aware of his name, that after his death, that judgment of the word would come to the world. Methuselah lived his walk of faith and imprinted the gospel to his son, Noah and his descendants. He lived with Noah for 600 years before his death. When Methuselah died, his death was a month before the flood came. During the time when the ark was being made, he made the ark with Noah for 120 years. If you look at this time frame, I am sure after he helped Noah put all of the animals into the ark, that is when he died afterwards. During that time, imagine how much he imprinted the covenant into Noah. Noah was someone who heard directly from God that the judgment of the flood will come. He had faith regarding this.

2) Heir of righteousness

That is why Noah was called the heir of righteousness. He held onto the covenant and gospel just as it was and relayed it to his children and descendants. If Noah didn’t know the gospel, then I am sure that the covenant of Genesis 3:15 (“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”) wouldn’t have been relayed to us. The mystery of the offspring of woman wouldn’t have been made known to us and we would’ve walked our walk of faith without knowing this. Noah held onto the covenant and relayed it to his children, and this was relayed to Moses and that was how the book of Genesis was written.

That is why we need to relay the gospel correctly to our next generations and if we do this, then that is only how they can live. If we don’t relay the gospel, then that generation and next generation will experience destruction and without life. This is how important our role is. We need to hold onto the mystery of the ark.

3. The Gospel that Heirs of Faith Must Enjoy

1) The mystery of the Ark

When we look at the ark, we may see that it represents Christ and that everyone who entered into the ark, they all lived. This is all true but if you look at today’s main scripture, we need to look at it more deeply.

Genesis 6:14 - From here, the pitch means to paint. The word, “pitch” also signifies the word, “Kapar”, which means to “cover” or “conceal” in Hebrew. This is also referring to paint. To paint means that they were painting the ark.

Exodus 30:10 “And Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”- The word, “Kapar'' is mentioned three times in this verse. Also explained numerous times in the Exodus 30. The Bible explains this as atonement. This is explaining the blood of Jesus Christ. If this so, then they were painting the ark as if they were painting it with the blood of Jesus Christ. When they were painting the ark, they didn't just do it simply but they did it with much detail and covered each part precisely. If God commanded them to paint it, God didn’t command them to do it lightly but Noah spent many days and years to cover it completely and perfectly. This means that the ark was covered with the blood of Jesus Christ. When you enter the ark that is covered with the blood of Jesus Christ, then you will be saved.

Genesis 6:16 “You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.” - The ark was made like a huge box and the ark was covered entirely with the painting, the pitch. When the flood and rain came, the water wouldn’t fill up the ark but it wouldn’t fall apart or drift. Since the ark was made like a box, it was able to fall apart and not be capsized. There was only one window on top of the ark and this was all the people of the ark could look up to. What does this mean? Those who are within Christ, all you need to do is look up to God. If you look up to God alone, then you can find true hope and life. The judgment of the world came in the first place because the people of the world were chasing and looking only after the world. If you look up to God alone, then you will live. This was the power of the blood and they were able to enjoy this blessing. What is more important is what is written in Genesis 7:18 “The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters.” - God recorded that the ark was floating above the waters and floated on the surface of the waters. The ark was made so that it wouldn’t hit anything in the waters but it was able to float on the surface of the waters. This means that God was guiding and protecting this ark perfectly and completely. There was nothing that was guiding this ark, there was no engine or sail or oars. But this ark was just floating around. Who was controlling and driving this ark? It was God, the Almighty and the kIng of all kings. Since God was driving this ark, it was guided and protected completely. Since God was with them, it was going according perfectly to god’s plan. This is the mystery of the ark. if you do it according to your own plans, then you will fail. No matter how well you swim, if you face a hit wave or cliff, you will die. As you live your life, entrust your life to God. When you don’t give your life to God and live according to your own ways, you will hit something and you will face destruction and death. Entrust your life to God. God didn’t need an engine or an oar but God guided this ark completely and perfectly. This is how God is guiding your life. What happened to the people who faced the judgment of god? These people said that they don’t need God to control their lives. These are the people who faced destruction. If this is so, then we need to hold onto the seven paths to the summit.

2) Seven paths to the summit

Jews: Shema, Torah, Talmud - The Jews are the major winners of the Nobel prizes. With what kind of method were they able to make this accomplishment? They had a method on how to raise summits and successful individuals. We need to surpass the Jews so that we can save them. If that is so, we need to compare the paths of the summit of the Jews and the ways of the spiritual summit. When the Jews educate their children, they mark their children memorize the Shema, Torah, and Talmud. They educate their children to keep the law.

Remnants: the Bible, the gospel (intellect, talent, and spirituality) - But we who have the gospel, what must we do? We must share the accurate gospel and relay the words of the Bible. We are not just letting the remnants know the gospel but to hold and enjoy the gospel. We need to help them to hold onto the gospel. So that we can help them discover their talents. Through their lives, we are not living for our own will but we are living according to the power of God.

Biographies about historical figures (education for character building) and Seven Remnants who relied on God's power (preparation for character buildling) - The Jews also educate their children about successful and historical figures. They educate the successful characteristics of successful individuals to their children and educate them to have the same characteristics. But we are beyond this. When we look at the 7 remnants in the Bible, we need to teach our remnants to look at God alone. We need to teach the children that God will do it. Just like the ark, God will guide us.

Three Feasts (Passover, Pentecost, Ingathering) - The jews educate their children to keep the three feasts and to believe in what happened during the three feasts. But we must be different.

We need to hold onto Acts 1:1, 3, 8 “The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach. 3 To whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (True identity) - We are holding onto Jesus Chirst, the kingdom of God, and living in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Sabbath (strictness) and Sunday worship (answers during weekdays) - The Jews keep their Sabbath very strictly but we need to keep hold onto the pulpit Sunday message. With the pulpit message, we are holding to the word of God throughout the week.

Coming-of-age ceremony and Only (specialty) - The Jews focus on the Coming-of-age ceremony to help their children find their talent. But we are holding onto only the gospel, we are teaching our children so that through the gospel and Christ, they are able to find their specialty.

Synagogue and Uniqueness (social skills preparations) - The Jews raise their children inside the synagogues. But through the gospel and God’s kingdom, we need to help our remnants prepare for the world. We need to help align their whole direction towards God’s kingdom and we need to teach our children where they need to put their focus.

Lodge (Summit training for the successful) and Re-creation (preparation for the times) - The Jews would bring successful individuals to the lodge and train them their young children with concentration with them. This is happening in America. Long time ago, my youngest daughter started playing the violin and she attended a recital, and at this recital, there were all of these successful individuals and players gathered there. They would have these locations where all of the successful and professional musicians would gather. The Jews would gather all of the successful people and match them with the children, and train the children. From here, they would raise successful individuals to become Nobel peace prize winners. But we must become people who can stand as people who can experience recreation. We must become individuals who can change the age. It all starts with the spiritual summit. When we become the spiritual summit, then we can experience the work of changing the age.

Conclusion

Matthew 24:38-39 “For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” - Same thing with Noah and the flood, the judgment of this world will come again. Judgment Day will come soon. The faiths of Enoch, Methuselah, and Noah, may we also possess the same faith. Through us, God will raise us up as the watchmen to save the world.
