새 언약의 성취자 그리스도(히10:15-18)

서론

몇 년 전에 어떤 목사님이 저에게 식초를 먹으면 건강이 좋아질 것이라는 이야기를 해주었다. 그래서 그 이야기를 듣고 맞는 것 같아서 몇 년 동안 계속 먹었다. 그런데 그것 때문인지는 몰라도 한 오 년 전에 한국에 가서 건강검진을 받았는데 위 내시경 검사에서 만성 위염이라는 진단이 나왔다. 제가 사진을 확인했는데 어마어마하게 위장이 해져있었다. 삼분의 일 정도 되는 위가 부풀어올라서 곪은 것 처럼 펴져있었다. 제가 깜짝 놀랐다. 의사 선생님이 아마 위 암의 위험이 있으니까 매 해 와서 위장 내시경 검사를 받아야한다고 했다. 그래서 식초 때문에 그런가 싶어서 그 때 부터 식초를 안먹었다. 그래서 다음 해가 되서 다시 또 한국에 나갔을 때 종합검진을 받으러 갔다. 위 내시경 검사를 다시 했다. 좋아지지 않았냐고 물어봤다. 의사 선생님이 웃으면서 하시는 말씀이 만성 위염은 없어지는 것이 아니라고 했다. 사진을 보여주는데 전이랑 차이가 없었다. 조직 검사를 했는데 다행히 아직까지는 괜찮다는 진단을 받았다. 항상 조심하셔야 한다고 이야기했다. 작년에 가서 검사를 해야할텐데 팬데믹 때문에 갈 수가 없었다. 천상 기도하자 해서 주님앞에 기도만 했다. 기도를 막상 할려니까 위장에 뭐 있는 기도는 안나오고 작년에 했던 언약의 여정 다섯 가지만 놓고 계속 기도했다. 올 해 가게될까 싶었더니 또 못가게 되었다. 그러다보니까 벌써 3년이 되서 빨리 검사를 받아야겠다 하는 걱정이 되었다. 의사에게 이야기를 해서 미국에서 위장 내시경 검사를 신청했다. 달라스에서 위장 내시경 검사를 받았다. 그런데 놀라운 일이 생겼다. 그렇게 심했던 것이 흔적도 없어졌다. 저도 깜짝 놀랐다. 달라스 의사 선생님이 5년 있다가 와서 검사하시라고 했다. 저는 위장을 위해서 약을 먹은 것은 하나도 없다. 내가 한 것은 언약잡고 기도한 것 밖에 없었다. 내가 어떻게 나았는가 생각해보았다. 나도 모르는 사이에 사모가 해주는 음식이 좋은 영향을 미쳐서 좋아지지 않았을까 생각해보았다. 아니라면 내가 깊은 기도하는 가운데 엔돌핀이 나와서 없어졌나 했다. 아니면 기도하는 가운데 성령께서 강하게 역사하셔서 없애셨는지도 생각해보았다. 어떤 원인으로 없어졌는지는 잘 모르겠다. 분명한 것은 하나님께서 그것을 없애셨다는 것만은 사실이다. 어떤 계획을 갖고 없게 하셨을 것이다. 제가 한 것은 말씀잡고 언약잡고 기도한 것 밖에 없었다. 저는 이것을 놓고 가만히 묵상을 해보았다. 하나님께서 우리가 기도하니까 교회 리모델링을 해주시더니 사람까지도 리모델링 해주시는구나 하는 생각이 들었다. 저 뿐만 아니라 여러분도 기도하는 가운데서 많이 리모델링된 경험이 있을 줄로 믿는다. 나도 모르는 사이에 치유와 변화가 일어난다. 이것은 하나님께서 하시지 않으면 있을 수 없는 일이다. 한국에서 내과 전문 의사가 없어지는 것이 아니라고 장담했는데 2년 사이에 싹다 없어졌다. 제가 분명히 확신하는 것은 하나님께서는 마음만 잡주시면 얼마든지 할 수 있다는 사실이다. 사람을 통하던지 음식을 통하던지 약을 통하던지 의사를 통하던지 몰라도 하나님께서 작정하시면 얼마든지 할 수 있다는 사실이다. 그래서 우리가 해야할 것은 오직 그리스도만 잡게되면 모든 것이 해결될 수 있다는 확신을 가져야겠다. 오늘도 아주 귀중한 말씀을 주셨다.

1. 새 언약의 증언

1) 말씀의 성취

히 10:15 또한 성령이 우리에게 증언하시되

이 말씀을 왜 하셨는가 하면 하나님께서 렘 31:33의 예언의 말씀이 성취가 되었다는 것을 말씀하시는 것이다.

히 10:16 주께서 이르시되 그 날 후로는 그들과 맺을 언약이 이것이라 하시고 내 법을 그들의 마음에 두고 그들의 생각에 기록하리라 하신 후에

성령께서는 예레미야서에 기록된 것이 성취됬다는 것을 증언하고 계신다. 마음에 두고 생각에 기록한다는 말은 율법 제사가 필요 없다는 것이다. 옛날에는 말씀을 이마에 손목에 갖고 다니지 않았느냐 이제는 그것도 필요 없다는 말이다. 마음 속에 있으면 더 확실하다. 이제부터는 새 언약시대가 시작되었다는 것을 증언한다. 그러면 새 언약에 대해서 분명히 알고 넘어가는 것이 중요하다.

2) 새 언약의 완성

신약에 들어와서 새 언약에 대해서 제일 먼저 나온 것이 눅 22:20이다.

눅 22:20 저녁 먹은 후에 잔도 그와 같이 하여 이르시되 이 잔은 내 피로 세우는 새 언약이니 곧 너희를 위하여 붓는 것이라

예수님께서 최후에 만찬 때 포도주를 주시면서 하신 말씀이 바로 이 말씀이었다. 내 피로 세우는 새 언약이라는 말씀은 바로 예수님이 십자가를 통해서 대속을 이루심으로서 새 언약이 시작된다는 말이다. 예수님께서 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가심을 통해서 인간의 모든 죄 문제를 해결하시고 그 증거로 부활하셨다. 부활하신 예수님께서 행 1:4-5에 제자들을 불러 모아서 간곡하게 말씀하셨다.

행 1:4-5 사도와 함께 모이사 그들에게 분부하여 이르시되 예루살렘을 떠나지 말고 내게서 들은 바 아버지께서 약속하신 것을 기다리라 요한은 물로 세례를 베풀었으나 너희는 몇 날이 못되어 성령으로 세례를 받으리라 하셨느니라

부활하신 예수님께서 제자들을 불러모아서 아주 중요한 말씀을 하신 것이다. 아버지 약속하신 것을 기다려야한다는 것이다. 너희는 분명히 성령으로 세례를 받게될 것이라고 말씀하셨다. 새 언약을 성령으로서 성취가 된다는 것을 말씀하신 것이다. 승리하신 예수님께서 간절히 부탁하신 말씀이 이것부터 먼저 받고 시작해야한다는 것이다. 이 새 언약을 받게되면 어떻게 될 것인가를 말씀하신 내용이 나온다.

요 14:26-27 보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령 그가 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치고 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하리라. 평안을 너희에게 끼치노니 곧 나의 평안을 너희에게 주노라 내가 너희에게 주는 것은 세상이 주는 것과 같지 아니하니라 너희는 마음에 근심하지도 말고 두려워하지도 말라

이 말씀을 보게되면 새 언약에 대한 말씀이 자세히 들어있다. 성령께서 너에게 오시면 모든 것을 가르칠 것이라고 이야기하고 있다. 내가 너에게 말한 모든 것이 생각날 것이라고 말하고 있다. 마음에 기록하고 생각에 기록한다는 마음이 성취되는 것이다. 그리고 마음에는 평안을 너희에게 끼치노니 곧 나의 평안을 너희에게 준다고 하셨다. 그러면 너희는 마음에 근심하지도 말고 두려워하지도 말라. 말씀이 생각나서 마음과 생각에 떠오르게 할테니까 근심하지도 말고 두려워하지도 말라고 하신다. 바로 이것이 새 언약이다. 그러면 이 새 언약이 어떻게 실질적으로 성취되고 있는지 보아야겠다.

2. 새 언약의 성취

1) 죄를 멸하심

히 10:17 또 그들의 죄와 그들의 불법을 내가 다시 기억하지 아니하리라 하셨으니

계속 히브리서에는 기억하지 않겠다, 단번에 없앴다 하는 말씀을 하고 계신다. 저번에 10절에서도 단번에 드리심으로 끝냈다고 말씀드렸다. 그래서 너희들 다시 제사드릴 필요가 없다고 말씀하셨다. 이것은 무엇을 나타내는가. 예수님의 죽으심은 예수님의 죄 때문이 아니라 우리 죄 때문이다. 우리의 죄를 짊어지시고 돌아가신 예수님을 하나님께서 보시고 그 죄를 아버지께서 받아주시고 용서하셨다. 용서하신 증거로 다시 살리셨다. 이제는 너희들이 죽을 이유가 없다는 것이다. 그렇기 때문에 다시 제사를 드릴 이유가 없다는 것이다. 그런데 오늘 말씀에 그와 같은 말씀인데 다른 말씀이 나온다. 죄와 불법을 다시 기억하지 아니하리라 하셨다. 어떤 측면에서 볼 수 있냐면 인간들이 예수님을 믿고 영접할 때 일어나는 현상이다. 너희들이 내가 한 이 사실을 믿고 영접하게 되면 너희 문제가 단번에 끝나고 내가 다시는 너희 죄를 기억하지 않겠다는 것이다. 쉽게 설명하기 위하여 로마서 6:3-4을 보겠다.

롬 6:3 무릇 그리스도 예수와 합하여 세례를 받은 우리는 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받은 줄을 알지 못하느냐

예수님께서 세례요한에게 세례를 받을 때는 인간의 모든 과거 현재 미래 죄는 인간을 대표하는 세례요한을 통해서 예수님께 전가되었다. 그래서 예수님이 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가신 것은 인간의 모든 죄를 없애신 것이다. 이제 우리가 세례를 받을 때는 성삼위 하나님 이름으로 세례를 받는 것이다. 예수님 이름으로 세례를 받을 때는 예수님께서 우리를 위해서 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가신 사실을 믿고 내가 그것을 받아들이는 것을 나타낸다. 예수님께서 나를 위해서 십자가에 못박혀 죽으시고 -하나님 만나는 길을 열어주신 것을 믿고 받아들이는 그것이 세례이다. 내가 그것을 믿고 받아들이는 순간에 내 모든 죄가 예수님께 전가된다. 그 순간에 예수님이 십자가에 죽으심이 나의 죽음이 된다. 예수님의 장사된 것이 나의 죽음이 된다. 그러므로 나의 모든 문제는 완전히 끝나버린다.

롬 6:4 그러므로 우리가 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받음으로 그와 함께 장사되었나니 이는 아버지의 영광으로 말미암아 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리심과 같이 우리로 또한 새 생명 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이라

우리 모든 죄를 짊어지시고 돌아가신 주님께서 부활하셨다. 내 죄가 이제는 완전히 주님의 십자가에 장사가 되었기 때문에 나는 이제 새생명을 얻는다.

롬 6:7 이는 죽은 자가 죄에서 벗어나 의롭다 하심을 얻었음이라

내 모든 죄가 완전히 죽었기 때문에 이제는 의롭다 함을 받았다. 이것이 바로 우리가 믿음으로 예수님을 받아들이는 순가에 일어나는 놀라운 영적 현상이다. 우리가 예수님을 영접할 때 받은 놀라운 성령의 능력이다. 우리가 새 생명을 얻게되는 순간이다. 말씀을 모르는 사람은 이해를 못한다. 우리가 믿음으로 받아들이고 예수님을 영접하는 순간에 완전히 변화되는 축복의 역사가 나타난다. 그렇게되면 이제는 새로운 삶을 살게 되어있다. 그게 바로 18절 말씀이다.

2) 새 생명의 삶

히 10:18 이것들을 사하셨은즉 다시 죄를 위하여 제사 드릴 것이 없느니라

이제는 우리 죄가 완전히 해방되었다. 예수님께서 참 제사장의 직분을 해결하셨기 때문에 우리 죄가 완전히 끝났다는 것이다. 다시 내 죄 때문에 가서 짐승을 잡거나 다른 것을 할 이유가 없다는 것이다. 그리스도의 십자가를 통해서 완전히 끝내버리셨다. 그 뿐 아니다.

요 14:6 예수께서 이르시되 내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라

새 언약되신 그리스도께서 보혜사 성령으로 우리 안에 들어오신다는 말이다. 승리하신 그리스도의 영께서 오시면 영원토록 우리와 함께 계신다. 너는 영원한 하나님의 자녀다, 영원한 상속자다, 이 축복을 함께 누리겠다는 것이다. 하나님의 아들되신 예수님께서 왕권을 가지신 예수님께서 우리와 함께하신다. 이것을 믿는다면 근심 걱정할 것이 아무것도 없다. 우리가 이 삶을 실질적으로 갖고있다.

고후 3:17 주는 영이시니 주의 영이 계신 곳에는 자유가 있느니라

보혜사 성령이 우리 안에 들어오셨다면 승리하신 영이 있기 때문이 이제는 모든 자유함이 있다는 것이다. 흑암 권세, 저주의 권세가 있을 수가 없는 것이다. 너는 완전히 해방 받았다는 것이다. 완전히 끝났다는 것이다. 완전히 하나님의 자녀라는 것이다. 주의 영이 누구신가. 사단을 깨뜨린 승리의 영이다. 예수님께서 친히 공생애 동안에 보여주신 치유의 영이다. 우리에게 평강을 주시는 평강의 영이다. 능력의 영이다. 이 영이 있다고 하게되면 우리는 이 땅에서 이미 천국의 삶을 살고있는 줄로 믿는다. 가만히 생각해보시기 바란다. 우리가 언제 가장 행복한가. 우리가 돈이 생겨서 기뻐하는 것은 순간적인 육신의 행복이다. 우리의 진정한 행복은 말씀을 듣고 깨닫는 순간에 있다. 그리고 말씀이 나에게 성취되는 순간에 큰 행복이 있다. 내가 복음을 증거할 때 그 사람이 변화되는 모습을 볼 때는 얼마나 행복한지 모른다. 이것이 정말로 천국이다. 가장 행복한 순간이 어떤가 점검해보시기 바란다. 우리는 날마다 천국을 체험해야겠다.

3. 새 언약의 체험

1) 말씀 체험

우리가 금방 체험을 해야한다고 말씀드렸다. 핵심에서 세가지 체험에서 말씀하셨다. 천국을 체험하기 위해서 어떻게 하면 되는가. 첫번째는 말씀을 체험해야한다. 말씀을 체험하는 순간에 최고의 행복을 누린다. 말씀을 어떻게 체험하는가. 눅 1:37-38에 마리아에 대한 말씀이 나온다. 천사가 와서 네가 앞으로 잉태될 것이라는 말을 했다.

눅 1:37-38 대저 하나님의 모든 말씀은 능하지 못하심이 없느니라 38 마리아가 이르되 주의 여종이오니 말씀대로 내게 이루어지이다 하매 천사가 떠나가니라

천사가 한 하나님의 말씀은 능하지 못한 일이 없느니라, 성령으로 잉태되는 것은 아무것도 아니다 하고 말씀을 전했다. 그 말씀을 마리아가 말씀대로 이루어지길 원합니다 하고 받아들였다. 그리고 천사가 떠났다. 마리아는 말씀을 믿었다는 것이다. 눅 1:45 엘리사벳이 마리아에게 하는 말이 나온다.

눅 1:45 주께서 하신 말씀이 반드시 이루어지리라고 믿은 그 여자에게 복이 있도다

마리아가 복받게된 이유가 나타난다. 주께서 하신 말씀이 반드시 이루어진다고 믿었다는 것이다. 이 말씀을 믿은 마리아는 최고의 복을 받았다. 그러니까 엘리사벳이 놀라서 네가 최고의 축복을 받았다 하고 찬송을 드린다. 말씀 체험이 어떻게 일어나는가. 이 말씀이 반드시 이루어질 줄 믿습니다 하고 정말로 믿는 순간에 역사가 나타난다. 이 체험하시는 여러분 되시기 바란다. 믿어지는 순간에 끝나는 것이다. 그 다음에는 응답도 체험해야겠다.

2) 응답 체험

바로 강단에서 예배를 통해서 주시는 말씀을 제대로 잡게될 때 응답이 체험된다.

요 4:23 아버지께 참으로 예배하는 자들은 신령과 진정으로 예배할 때가 오나니 곧 이때라 아버지께서는 이렇게 자기에게 예배하는 자들을 찾으시느니라

하나님께서는 누구를 찾으시는가. 예배하는 자를 찾으신다. 예배를 받으시기 위해서 만드신 것이다. 창조의 목적이 예배 때문이다. 누굴 찾고계시냐. 예배 드리는 자를 찾으신다. 그렇다면 누가 제일 영적인 복을 받겠는가. 예배를 드리는 자이다. 예배를 드릴 때는 하늘 보좌의 축복의 역사가 일어난다. 이 예배를 드리는 순간에 모든 천군 천사가 함께하고 있다. 하나님 보좌에 계신 아버지와 아들과 성령께서 우리 예배를 받고 계신다. 여기서 모든 축복이 다 있다. 정말 이것을 놓치지 마시기 바란다. 예배드리는 자의 축복이 6가지가 나온다.

시 103:2-5 내 영혼아 여호와를 송축하며 그의 모든 은택을 잊지 말지어다 3 그가 네 모든 죄악을 사하시며 네 모든 병을 고치시며 4 네 생명을 파멸에서 속량하시고 인자와 긍휼로 관을 씌우시며 5 좋은 것으로 네 소원을 만족하게 하사 네 청춘을 독수리 같이 새롭게 하시는도다

이 여섯가지에 여러분 필요한 것 다 들어있지 않은가. 예배를 통해서 받는다는 것이다. 너무 중요하니까 다시 한 번 보겠다. 내 모든 죄악을 사하신다. 또 모든 병을 고치신다. 네 생명을 파멸에서 건지신다. 인자와 긍휼로 관을 씌우신다. 우리가 어떤 문제에 빠져있다고 하더라도 하나님께서 불쌍히 여기시면 끝나는 것이다. 좋은 것으로 네 소원을 만족하게 하신다. 보약 먹고 힘이 나는 것이 아니라 네 청춘을 독수리 같이 새롭게 하신다. 예배를 통해서 주시는 말씀을 내 말씀으로 믿음으로 받아들이게 될 때 역사가 나타난다. 이것은 구하지 않아도 예배를 통해서 주시겠다고 말씀하시는 것이다. 되어지는 축복이다. 성경에서 주시는 진짜 응답은 되어지는 축복이다. 구하지 않아도 받는 것이다. 그런 축복을 세세하게 알고 응답하겠다는 것이다. 그러면 이제 우리는 미래 체험을 해야겠다.

3) 미래 체험

우리는 미래를 보장 받아야겠다. 미래를 확실히 붙잡고 체험해야겠다. 그것이 무엇이냐. 언약 잡는 것이다. 언약 잡은 자는 하나님께서 반드시 미래를 보장하신다.

행 19:21 이 일이 있은 후에 바울이 마게도냐와 아가야를 거쳐 예루살렘에 가기로 작정하여 이르되 내가 거기 갔다가 후에 로마도 보아야 하리라 하고

사도바울이 언약 잡은 말씀을 선포했다. 땅 끝까지 증인이 되리라는 주님께서 하신 말씀을 붙들고 로마까지 가야겠다는 것이다. 잡으니까 하나님께서는 그것을 들으시고 끝까지 보호해주시고 인도해주시고 축복해주신다. 어떤 어려움이 와도 문제될 것이 없다. 주님께서 함께하시니까. 주님께서 보호해주시니까. 언약을 위해서 성취해나가시니까. 행 27:24은 유라굴로 폭풍 가운데서 하신 말씀이다.

행 27:24 바울아 두려워하지 말라 네가 가이사 앞에 서야 하겠고 또 하나님께서 너와 함께 항해하는 자를 다 네게 주셨다 하였으니

어떻게 이런 말씀이 나올 수 있는가. 사도바울은 내가 로마도 보아야하리라는 언약을 붙잡은 것 밖에 없었다. 하나님께서는 알았다, 내가 원하는게 바로 그거다 하시는 것이다. 생명 구원의 기도만 하게되면 하나님께서 함께 역사하신다. 하나님 나에게 237 나라 선교할 수 있는 힘을 주옵소서. 이를 위해서 나에게 말씀을 주옵소서. 경제력과 건강을 주옵소서. 왜 안주시겠는가. 죽음에서도 건져주시는데. 우리가 응답받기 너무 쉽다. 언약을 잡기만 하면 된다. 축복받는 여러분 되시기 바란다.

결론

우리가 해야될 것은 무엇이냐.

마 6:33 그런즉 너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라

이 모든 것은 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하면 되어지는 것이다. 우리가 이 세상 살아가면서 육신적으로 필요한 모든 것은 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하면 된다는 것이다. 되어지는 축복이 이 언약을 잡을 때 성취될 줄로 믿는다.

“15 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, 16 'This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,' 17 then He adds, 'Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.' 18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.”

Introduction

Last year, there was a pastor who told me that if you drink vinegar, your health will improve. When I heard that, I thought it was right for many years so I have been drinking vinegar every single day. I don’t know if that was the reason why but when I went to Korea to get my health examined, the doctor told me that I have chronic stomach infection. The doctor told me that the lining of my stomach has been damaged and 3/4 of it was inflamed. I was so shocked and I wondered how this happened but the doctor told me I was at risk for stomach cancer and I needed to have a regular check up every year. I thought it was because of my vinegar intake so I stopped consuming vinegar every morning. Another year, I went to go check my stomach checked up and the doctor examined it. I asked the doctor if it was any better and the doctor smiled at me and told me that it doesn’t get better immediately and that I probably have to live with it for the rest of my life. Therefore, my stomach condition remained same and it was still inflamed but they told me that I was still okay; however, they told me to be extra careful. I wasn’t able to get my physical exam last year because of the pandemic and I couldn’t do anything about this so all I did was enter into prayer before God. All I did was pray and do the basic salvation message (BSM) but I didn’t really pray much about my stomach condition. When I thought I would be able to go to Korea, I wasn't able to go again so it has been 3 years since I have been able to examine my stomach. I told my doctor and I decided to get my examination done here in America. In Dallas, I got my stomach examined but something amazing happened, there was no trace of my stomach infection. I was so surprised. How did it all disappear? The doctor told me I didn’t have to come again until after 5 years and that I will be fine. I didn't take any special medication. All I did was hold onto the covenant and pray. I thought about how all this happened. I even wondered if the cooked meals made by my life improved my health or when I entered into deep prayer, my body produced a lot of endorphins so I was healed? Or, maybe when I entered into deep prayer, the Holy Spirit worked in powerful ways but I am not sure what allowed this healing to take place but what is absolute is that God allowed this infection to be healed. God had an absolute plan for me. All I did was hold onto the covenant and pray. I thought about this and when I pray, I realized that just like how God allowed the church reconstruction to take place, God also reconstructed my life. I hope that you can experience reconstruction within your life. Without you knowing, healing and change will take place in your life. You will realize that these things took place because God worked. The doctor in Korea told me that this infection would never disappear but within a few years, the infection disappeared completely. What is absolute is that if God wills, then it will happen. Whether through people, food, or medicine, if God wills then it will absolutely take place. So what we need to do is hold onto only Christ, then absolute answers and change will take place. There is a precious message given to us by God today.

1) The fulfillment of the word

Verses 15-16 - What was prophesied in Jeremiah 31:33 ("But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.") was fulfilled and that message was spoken in verse 16. The message that was spoken by Jeremiah was fulfilled as spoken in these verses. This means that there is no need for animal sacrifice. In the Old Testament, they had to wear the scripture on their foreheads and wrists but there’s no need for that anymore because the word of God is in our hearts now. Now, the age of the new covenant has started. We need to know and hold onto the meaning of the new covenant.

2) Completion of the new covenant

The first mention of the new covenant was in Luke 22:20 (“Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.' ”) - In the Last Supper, this was the message that Jesus gave to His disciples. The blood of the new covenant means that Jesus Christ will die on the cross and shed His blood, this will be the redemption of the new covenant. As evidence that Jesus’ death redeemed our sins, Jesus resurrected.

Jesus gathered His disciples and gave a message after His resurrection in Acts 1:4-5 (“And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, 'which,' He said, 'you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.' ”) - Jesus who resurrected, He gathered His disciples and gave them an important message. The important message was regarding God’s promise and for them to keep God’s promise. Jesus promised them the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This means that the new covenant was fulfilled by the Holy Spirit. Jesus who was victorious on the cross, He gave a message to His disciples to hold onto this message and to wait for the Holy Spirit.

Jesus was speaking about what will happen when you hold onto the new covenant in John 14:26-27 (“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”) - When you look at this passage, the new covenant is seen in here. When the Holy Spirit comes, the Holy Spirit will teach us all things and will help us remember God’s word. The fulfillment of the word being engraved in our hearts and minds will take place. The word will be remembered and will help us remember the word so there is no need for us to fear or worry. This is the new covenant. Then, how is the new covenant being fulfilled in our lives right now?

2. The Fulfillment of the New Covenant

1) He destroyed sin

Verse 17 - In the book of Hebrews, Jesus repeatedly said that our sins will be remembered no more and it is finished once and for all. So, that is why Jesus said there is no need for us to do animal sacrifices anymore. What does this mean? Jesus took all of our sins and died on our behalf. This Jesus who died on the cross, God accepted Jesus’ sacrifice and saved us, and to show evidence that God has completely resolved our sins, Jesus resurrected. So there is no need for us to do animal sacrifices. When you look at today’s passage, you can see that this is what happens when you first accept Jesus into your heart. If you believe in Jes and accept Him, then God will not remember our sins no more.

To further explain this, I will use the Bible passage of Romans 6:3-4, 6:7 (“Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.”) - When Jesus was being baptized with oil by John the Baptist, Jesus was receiving all of the sins of mankind. When Jesus died on the cross, He bore all of the sins of mankind and solved all of the sins once and for all. When we get baptized, we get baptized in the name of the Triune God. When we get baptized, we get baptized because we believe in the name of Jesus who died for us and sacrificed for our sins. He bore and forgave our sins, opened the way to meet God and destroyed the power of Satan. This is what we believe in when we get baptized. When we accept Jesus in our hearts, all of our sins will be imputed onto Jesus. The death of Jesus on the cross is also our death. In other words, Jesus’ death on the cross was our death as well. Then, this means that all our sins are completely resolved.

Romans 6:4 - Jesus died for our sins and resurrected. Now that our sins were completely demolished on the cross when Jesus died for us, we have a new life.

Romans 6:7 - Our sins have been completely finished and resolved; we are now called righteous. This is what happens when we accept Jesus and this is the spiritual phenomenon that takes place. The moment we accept Jesus in our hearts, the great power of the Holy Spirit that takes place. This is the moment we see new life. People who don’t really know God’s word, they can’t understand this. The moment we accept Jesus Christ, great spiritual changes take place. Then, we can live a new life.

2) Living with new life

Verse 18 - Our sins have been completely delivered. Jesus fulfilled the role of the True Priest so our sins have been completely resolved. There is no need for us to do animal sacrifices. This was completely resolved through the cross of Jesus.

John 14:16 (“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.”) - The helper, the Holy Spirit entered our hearts and we have eternal victory now. We are eternally children of God and heirs of God. We can enjoy these blessings now together with God. Jesus who is the Son of God and also the King, wants to enjoy the heir together with us. There is no need for us to fear or worry about anything because we have these blessings.

Not only that but in 2 Corinthians 3:17 (“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”) - If the Holy Spirit is with us, then we have absolute liberty. There is no room for the work of sins and Satan. We have been completely delivered. Everything is completely finished. We are complete children of God. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of victory. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom that Jesus showed during His Earthly ministry. He is also the Spirit of power and peace. If you have this Spirit, then you already are living the life of heaven on Earth. When are we the happiest? If you make money, there may be some joy but it is only temporary. True happiness is realizing what the word of God is. When the word is fulfilled, then that is the true source of happiness. When you have the gospel and people change and become saved, I become so happy. This is what heaven is. Truly enjoy this blessing. When is the time of true happiness? You need to think about this. You need to experience the life of heaven every single day. You need to experience this.

John 14:6 (“Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.' ”) -

3. The Experience of the New Covenant

1) Experiencing the Word

Pastor Ryu spoke about the three experiences during the HQ messages. How can you experience heaven? You need to experience the word. You can experience heaven through the word. How do I know this? How do you experience the word?

Luke 1:37-38, 45 (“For with God nothing will be impossible. 38 Then Mary said, 'Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.' And the angel departed from her. 45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”) - An angel spoke to Mary and told her that she will conceive a child. For Virgin Mary to conceive a child was not impossible for God so Mary believed in this and Mary confessed that everything is possible through God and accepted God’s word. Mary believed in God’s word.

Luke 1:45 - Elizabeth was saying this to Mary. The reason why Mary was blessed, this was the reason. She believed that God’s word will absolutely be fulfilled. Mary who believed in God’s word, she received the greatest blessing. That is why Elizabeth praised Mary saying that she was the most blessed. How can you experience the word? You need to believe that God’s word will absolutely be fulfilled then you can experience the word. May you experience the word. The moment you experience the word, then everything will be finished.

2) Experiencing answers

To receive and experience answers, you must hold onto the word from the pulpit message.

John 4:23 (“Jesus answered and said to her, 'Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again.”) - Who does God look for? He looks for those who worship. Why did God make us? We were created for worship. We were created to worship God. Who is God looking for? He is looking for His worshippers. Who is the most blessed? Who will receive the greatest blessing? Those who worship. When you give worship, then the blessing of the throne of God comes upon you. When you worship, the armies of angels are with you. While we worship, the trinity God takes our worship and enjoys it with us. All blessings are within the time of worship. Don’t lose hold of this.

Psalm 103:2-5 (“Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”) - We can see the six blessings given to worshippers. If you look at these 6 blessings, everything that we need is here. If you worship, you will receive these blessings. This is so important so I will go through them once again. God will forgive our iniquities, heal our diseases, redeem us of our life from destruction, crowns with lovingkindness and tender mercies upon us. If God chooses to have mercy on us, then we are taken care of. You love good things in life, then God will satisfy your life with good things. We can receive strength elsewhere but God will renew our strength like the eagles. How does this happen? It happens when we take the word as our own in faith then the word will take place in our life. Even if we don't go out seeking for it, God will give it for us. This blessing has no choice but to take place for us. True blessings from the Bible take place because we will receive them without asking for them. God will give us these blessings at every turn.

3) Experiencing the future

We need to be guaranteed of our future. We need to be confident of our future and pray for it. We are already in the midst of blessings but we need to hold onto the covenant. If we hold onto the covenant then our future is guaranteed.

Acts 19:21 (“When these things were accomplished, Paul purposed in the Spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, 'After I have been there, I must also see Rome.' ”) - Jesus told His disciples to become disciples till the ends of the Earth and Paul held onto this covenant, and said that He must go to Rome. When he held onto this and God saw Paul's heart, God guided and protected Paul till the end. No matter what troubles came, it didn’t matter because God was with him and was protecting him. This was because God had to fulfill His covenant through Paul.

Acts 27:24 (“Saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.' ”) - God said this to Paul during the storm. How could this message be given? Paul held onto the covenant that he must go to Rome and that is all that he held onto but God was pleased with this and fulfilled the covenant. If we also pray that we want to save lives, then God will be with us and answer our prayer. If we pray to do the 237 evangelism and to proclaim His word as well as the financial power and the health to do so, why would God not answer us? God saved Paul from death. Truly receive these blessings.

Conclusion

There is nothing else for us to do but hold onto Matthew 6:33 ("But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. ") - All things will take place when we seek after God’s kingdom and righteousness. As we live on this Earth, all of the physical necessities will be given to us when we seek after God’s kingdom and righteousness. When we hold onto this covenant, all blessings will be given to us. Let us hold onto the word once again and pray. Let us place our hand on our weaknesses once again and pray.
