“두려움의 이유와 중보자 치유”

“뭇 백성이 우레와 번개와 나팔 소리와 산의 연기를 본지라 그들이 볼 때에 떨며 멀리 서서 19 모세에게 이르되 당신이 우리에게 말씀하소서 우리가 들으리이다 하나님이 우리에게 말씀하시지 말게 하소서 우리가 죽을까 하나이다 20 모세가 백성에게 이르되 두려워하지 말라 하나님이 임하심은 너희를 시험하고 너희로 경외하여 범죄하지 않게 하려 하심이니라 21 백성은 멀리 서 있고 모세는 하나님이 계신 흑암으로 가까이 가니라 22 여호와께서 모세에게 이르되 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 이같이 이르라 내가 하늘로부터 너희에게 말하는 것을 너희 스스로 보았으니 23 너희는 나를 비겨서 은으로나 금으로나 너희를 위하여 신상을 만들지 말고 24 내게 토단을 쌓고 그 위에 네 양과 소로 네 번제와 화목제를 드리라 내가 내 이름을 기념하게 하는 모든 곳에서 네게 임하여 복을 주리라 25 네가 내게 돌로 제단을 쌓거든 다듬은 돌로 쌓지 말라 네가 정으로 그것을 쪼면 부정하게 함이니라 26 너는 층계로 내 제단에 오르지 말라 네 하체가 그 위에서 드러날까 함이니라” (출애굽기 20:18-26)

1. 두려움의 이유 The Reason for Fear

(1) 하나님 자녀의 한계 The Limitations of God's Children

출 Exodus 20:18-19, 출 Exodus 19:10, 12, 요 John 14:16

지금 시내산의 모습에 대해 영상을 보았다. 3,500년 전에 하나님이 임하신 흔적이 증거로 남은 것이다. 오늘 18절 말씀을 보면, "뭇 백성이 우레와 번개와 나팔 소리와 산의 연기를 본지라 그들이 볼 때에 떨며 멀리 서서" 라고 나온다. 저렇게 새까맣게 돌이 탄 영상을 보셨듯이 우레와 번개가 내리고 산이 전체적으로 탄 모습이다. 당시 계명을 받을 때 이스라엘 백성들이 두려움에 멀리 서서 부들부들 떨고 있었다. 여기서 먼저 붙잡을 것이 왜 두려움에 떨고 있었느냐 하는 것이다. 원래 하나님이 인간을 만드실 때 두려움에 떠는 존재로 만드시지 않았다. 두려워 떨게 된 것은 아담과 하와의 범죄함으로 인하여 시작되었다. 그 두려움의 원인은 세 가지로, 첫째는 하나님 말씀을 떠난 것, 두 번째는 사단에게 붙잡히게 된 것, 세 번째는 죄를 범하여 타락한 것이다. 이 세 가지를 자세히 보아야겠다. 지금도 하나님의 말씀을 떠난 자에게는 두려움이 임한다. 지금도 사단에게 붙잡히면 두려움이 오게 된다. 죄를 짓게 되면 두려움에 사로잡히게 되어 있다. 바로 이 죄 문제로 인해 두려움이 왔고 죄 문제가 해결되지 않으면 두려움이 떠나가지 않는 것을 알아야겠다. 그런데 여기서 우리가 한 가지 붙잡을 게 있다. 이스라엘 백성들은 애굽에서 나올 때 양의 피를 문설주에 발라 해방받았다. 다시 말해 양의 피로 인해 죄 문제 해결을 받은 사람들이 지금 시내산에 모인 것이다. 그렇다면 죄문제가 해결되었으니 두려움이 없어야 하지 않는가. 그런데 이 사람들은 여전히 두려움에 사로잡혔다. 여기서 또 한 가지 중요한 것을 잡아야겠다. 19절, "모세에게 이르되 당신이 우리에게 말씀하소서 우리가 들으리이다 하나님이 우리에게 말씀하시지 말게 하소서 우리가 죽을까 하나이다" 하며 백성들이 모세에게 요구한다. 하나님 말씀을 직접 못 듣겠다고 하는 이야기이다. 그러면서 모세에게 당신이 대신 듣고 우리에게 전해 달라고 하는 말이다. 그리스도 피로 이미 구원받은 자들이 여기서 또 중보자를 요구하는 것이다. 여기서 중요한 것은, 우리가 구원을 받았다고 해도 이 땅에 사는 한 중보자가 필요하다는 사실이다. 출애굽기 19:10 보면 하나님이 인간을 만나시기 전에 준비 시키시는 것을 볼수가 있다, "여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 백성에게로 가서 오늘과 내일 그들을 성결하게 하며 그들에게 옷을 빨게 하고 12 너는 백성을 위하여 주위에 경계를 정하고 이르기를 너희는 조심하여 산에 오르거나 그 경계를 침범하지 말지니 산을 침범하는 자는 반드시 죽임을 당할 것이라". 어째서 이런 명령을 하셨는가? 구원받아 홍해까지 건너온 백성들에게 경계선을 넘어오면 죽으니 넘지 말라고 하신다. 이것은 바로 이스라엘 백성들의 영적 상태를 말씀하신 것이다. 다시 말해, 양의 피로 구원받았다고 하더라도, 우리 안에 심령에 오염된 죄의 상태를 가지고 있다는 사실이다. 그래서 그때 구원받았다 하더라도 하나님을 직접 만나면 죽게 되는 것이다. 이것이 바로 하나님 자녀, 피조물 된 우리의 한계를 말한다. 이러한 이유로 지금도 우리는 중보자가 필요하다는 것이다. 이 상태를 아시는 주님께서 요 14:16에 보혜사 성령을 구하신다, "내가 아버지께 구하겠으니 그가 또 다른 보혜사를 너희에게 주사 영원토록 너희와 함께 있게 하리니". 성령께서 너희를 위해 오셔서 너희 안에서 너희를 지키시리라 하는 것이다. 왜 그러한가? 우리 속에 임재하시며 말씀으로 성화의 길로 인도하시기 위함이다. 예수 그리스도를 영접하며 놀라운 축복된 자리로 들어가는 것의 증거가 성화이다. "모세가 백성에게 이르되 두려워하지 말라 하나님이 임하심은 너희를 시험하고 너희로 경외하여 범죄하지 않게 하려 하심이니라". 백성들이 심판과 죽음이 두려워 떨고 있는 모습을 보고 백성들에게 두려워 말라고 말한다. 심판과 죽음을 위해서 오신 것이 아니고 시험하고 경외하여 범죄치 않게 하려 오신 것이라고 설명한다. 

(2) 두려움과 경외심 Fear and reverence

출 Exodus 20:20-21

히 Hebrews 12:21

여기 너희를 시험하기 위해서 오셨다고 나온다. 아브라함도 이러한 시험을 받았다. 가끔 하나님은 우리의 믿음을 시험하신다. 지금 실제 모습을 드러내시고 그 음성까지 듣게 하신 다음 나를 믿는 믿음을 굳건히 가질 수 있도록 하시는 하나님이다. 굳건하며 전적인 의지하는 믿음을 가지라고 하시는 것이다. 또 이 구절에 경외함을 주시기 위해 나타나셨다고 한다. 경외함은 존중의 최고 표현이다. 하나님을 보며 나의 모든것을 드려야 할 경외의 대상인 것을 깨닫게 하려 하심이다 라는 말이다. 이러한 마음을 가진 사람은 절대 실패하지 않고 죄에 빠지지 않을 수 있기 때문이다. 우리가 하나님을 경외하는 마음을 가지면 모든 것을 하나님께 맡길 수도 있게 된다. 경외하는 마음의 모델적인 마음을 보여주신 분이 예수님이다. 예수님께서는 이 땅에 우리의 중보자로 오셔서 대속의 사명을 감당하시고 우리를 대신해 죽음으로 들어가셨다. 그 말은 예수님께서 하나님 앞에 자신의 모든 것을 드렸다는 뜻이다. 하나님께 모든 것을 드림으로 영광 속으로 들어가는 것이다. 이 축복을 누리는 여러분 되시기를 바란다. "백성은 멀리 서 있고 모세는 하나님이 계신 흑암으로 가까이 가니라". 이때 당시 마음의 모습을 히 12:21에, "그 보이는 바가 이렇듯 무섭기로 모세도 이르되 내가 심히 두렵고 떨린다 하였느니라" 라고 표현했다. 모세도 인간에 지나지 않기 때문이다. 그 역시 오염된 죄가 있는 인간이다. 

2. 중보자의 치유 Healing through the Mediator

(1) 예배를 통하여 Through worship

출 Exodus 20:22-24

갈 Galatians 2:20, 요 John 4:24

그러한 가운데 하나님 앞으로 간다는 것은 자신의 생명조차도 하나님께 맡겼다는 뜻이 된다. 모세가 자신의 모든 생명을 바치며 그를 통해 하나님이 영광을 받으신다. 나중에 하나님을 만나고 돌아온 모세의 얼굴에 빛이 비쳐 사람들이 제대로 볼 수가 없었다고 나온다. 하나님께 모든 것을 맡기게 될 때 하나님께서 여러분 또한 모세처럼 영광스러운 모습으로 바꿔 주실 것이다. 그러면서 하나님이 22절에 중요한 말씀 하신다, "여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 이같이 이르라 내가 하늘로부터 너희에게 말하는 것을 너희 스스로 보았으니" 이스라엘 백성들에게 하나님이 말씀 하시기를, 너희가 내게 말하는 것을 하늘에서부터 보았다 하시는 것이다. 이는 하나님이 눈에 보이지 않는 영적인 존재이심을 설명한다. 이어서 23절에 "너희는 나를 비겨서 은으로나 금으로나 너희를 위하여 신상을 만들지 말고","나는 하늘에 속한 영적인 존재이니 나를 위하여 이러한 것들을 만들지 말라" 하는 말씀이다. 금으로 은으로 우상을 만드는 것이 익숙한 이스라엘 백성들이다. 이에 하나님은 나는 영적 존재이니 영적인 예배를 드려라” 하는 말씀이다. 이어서 24절 ,"내게 토단을 쌓고 그 위에 네 양과 소로 네 번제와 화목제를 드리라 내가 내 이름을 기념하게 하는 모든 곳에서 네게 임하여 복을 주리라". 우리가 축복과 응답을 받을 수 있는 비밀에 대해 설명하신다. 너희가 예배를 드릴 때 그 모습 그대로 나오라고 하는 말씀이다. 우리가 하나님 앞에 실수하고, 죄를 짓고, 실수하더라도 그 모습 그대로 나오라고 하는 말씀이다. 하나님 앞에 변명할 이유도 필요도 없고 있는 그대로 나를 받으시는 하나님께 나아가서 번제와 화목제를 드려라 하는 말씀이다. 번제는 짐승을 완전히 태워 보내는 제물이다. 너 자신을 온전히 내게 주어라, 그리스도가 너를 위해 죽었음을 말한다. 본문 24절에 신령과 진정으로 나아와 예배를 드리라고 하신다. "내게 토단을 쌓고 그 위에 네 양과 소로 네 번제와 화목제를 드리라 내가 내 이름을 기념하게 하는 모든 곳에서 네게 임하여 복을 주리라" 제가 항상 마음담아 기도 하는 것이 우리교회 중직자, 렘넌트들 만큼 진실한 사람들이 많이 없는 것 같다. 제가 이번에 기도하면서도 하나님께 너무 감사했다. 모두 다 진실하시고 순수하신 분들만 보내셔서 은혜 안에 살게 하신 것에 감사했다. "네게 임하여 복을 주리라" 이러한 응답을 받으시는 여러분 되시기를 바란다. 

(2) 수치심을 치유 Healing shame

출 Exodus 20:25-26

창 Genesis 3:7, 1:18, 출 Exodus 28:42

25절, "네가 내게 돌로 제단을 쌓거든 다듬은 돌로 쌓지 말라 네가 정으로 그것을 쪼면 부정하게 함이니라". 세상에 모든 우상들을 번쩍번쩍 금으로 만들어 빛나게 한다. 하나님께서는 그렇게 하지 말라는 말씀이다. 하나님 말씀과 언약에 집중하라는 말씀이다. 하나님께서는 우리의 진실된 모습을 좋아하신다. 우리 성도분들이 축복받을 수밖에 없는 이유가 이것이다. 26절, "너는 층계로 내 제단에 오르지 말라 네 하체가 그 위에서 드러날까 함이니라". 층계를 왜 오르지 말라고 하시나? 하체가 드러날까 함이라 했다. 당시에는 원피스 같은 긴 가운을 입었는데, 계단에 오르면 그 아래가 보일 수 있으니 그것을 조심하라 한 것이다. 중요한 성경적, 역사적 사실을 잡아야겠다. 인간이 옷을 언제부터 입었는가? 창세기 3장 7절에 아담과 하와가 죄를 짓자마자 눈이 밝아져 무화과 나무 잎으로 옷을 지어 입었다. 옷의 기원을 보니, 눈이 밝아져 만들게 된 것이다. 그 눈이 무엇인가? 죄를 짓고 나서 선악을 분별하는 눈이 떠진것이다. 선악과를 먹자마자 일어난 일이다. 순간적으로 자신이 하나님 형상을 잃은 것을 깨닫게 된 것이다. 죄인의 모습이 이렇구나 깨달은 것이다. 그러면서 죄에 대한 수치심이 몰려온 것이다. 죄에 대한 수치심으로 인해 먼저 나타나는 것은 숨기고 감추고 속이는 것이다. 그러면 왜 굳이 "하체를 드러내지 말라" 라고 하셨는가? 여기서 하체는 부정한 것을 나타낸다. 아담과 하와가 범죄하고 난 뒤 무화과나무 잎으로 옷을 만들어 가릴 때 하나님이 그들 앞에 나타나셔서 왜 그런 옷을 만들었느냐고 꾸짖으시거나 그 옷을 벗어라 하지 않으셨다. 그 가린 것을 보시고 하나님은 오히려 더 좋은 가죽옷을 만들어 주셨다. 하나님이 왜 그렇게 가리도록 두셨는가. 여기에 대해 통일교의 문선명 교주는 아담과 하와가 무화과 잎으로 몸을 가리게 된 이유가 루시엘이라는 뱀, 즉 사탄이 하와와 부적절한 관계를 가졌기 때문이다 라는 지극히 인간적인 발상의 주장을했다. 그런데 사실 인간은 다른 것이 아닌 죄에 대한 수치심 때문에 이렇게 몸을 가리기 시작했다. 인간의 신체에 있어 하체가 가진 특성은 하나님의 생명 창조를 위해 필수로 있어야 하는 중요한 부위이다. 창세기 1:28 말씀 보면 생육하고 번성하여 땅에 충만하라 하는 말씀을 이루고 새로운 생명을 창조하는 통로가 되는 것이 바로 이 하체이다. 그런데 죄를 지은 인간 속에 죄가 들어와 죄와 사망의 유전적 통로로 바뀐다. 생명의 거룩한 것이 죄로 인해 오염되어 죽음의 통로가 되어 버렸다. 이것 모두 눈이 밝아짐으로 깨닫게 되었다. 아담과 하와는 본능적으로 그렇게 자신의 죄성의 통로가 된 하체를 가리게 된다. 하나님이 그를 보고 역시 드러내지 말라고 하신다. 멸망의 통로가 되어 여기서부터 시작해 후손에게 계속 이어지고 있기 때문이다. 여기서 우리가 잡을 것은 창세기 17장에 보면 이스라엘 백성들에게 할례를 행하라고 하신다. 할례를 통해, 피를 통해 다시 태어나는 것을 의미한다. 먼저 하나님의 택한 백성들로 새로 태어나게 해 그 후손들로 새로 태어나게 한 것이 언약의 백성이다. 언약의 백성이라 함은 피를 통해 다시 태어난 족속을 가리키는 것이다. 하나님은 짐승의 희생을 통해 아담과 하와에게 가죽옷을 지어 주시며 그들의 수치를 가리신다. 출애굽기 28:42 보면, 제사장들로 제사를 지낼 때에 속바지를 만들어 입으라고 하신다. 간단히 말해, 우리가 입는 속옷이다. 여기서 얘기하고 있는 할례라든지 속옷이라든지 가죽옷이라든지 이것들이 무엇을 상징하는가? 바로 중보자 되시는 그리스도를 의미한다. 중보자의 피 없이는 우리들의 죄가 가려지지 않는 것을 말한다. 다시 말해, 우리가 이 땅에 사는 한 그리스도 없이는 살 수가 없는 것이다. 그리스도 없이는 부끄러운 삶을 살 수밖에 없다. 그러나 우리가 그리스도 안에 있게 되면 우리가 성령의 인도와 보호를 받는 축복을 받게 된다. 그리스도 안에 있게 되면 성령의 인도받고 보호까지 받을 수 있는 축복을 받게 된다. 성령의 능력을 통해 성화의 과정을 겪고 하나님 앞에 나아갈 수 있게 된다. 번제와 화목제 통해 모든 것을 하나님 앞에 맡기고 나아갈 수 있게 된다. 이렇게 예배를 드리는 자에게 하나님의 놀라운 축복과 응답의 역사가 계속 나타나게 된다. 

3. 3 가지 치유 체험 Three Experiences of Healing

(1) 기도할 수 없는 상태를 치유 Healing the inability to pray

눅 Luke 10:19

우리가 이 성령의 인도받게 되면 세 가지 중요한 체험을 받게 된다. 기도할 수 없던 우리가 치유를 받게 된다. 그리스도가 우리 안에 들어오심으로 말미암아 눅 10:19의 역사가 나타난다, "내가 너희에게 뱀과 전갈을 밟으며 원수의 모든 능력을 제어할 권능을 주었으니 너희를 해치자 가 결코 없으리라". 우리 안에 성령의 능력을 통해 모든 흑암을 물리칠 수  있는 권세가 나타난다. 

(2) 예수님의 것으로 근본치유 Fundamental healing through the things of Jesus

마 Matthew 16:16

두 번째로, 예수님의 것 통해 근본적인 치유를 받을 수 있게 된다, 마 16:16, "시몬 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주는 그리스도시요 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다" 우리가 주님을 모심을 통해 근본문제인 하나님 떠난 문제, 죄 문제, 사탄 문제에서 해방 받게 된다. 그리스도 앞에 참된 고백 통해 이 체험이 날마다 여러분의 인생에 나타나게 될 줄을 믿는다. 

(3) 만물을 복종케 하시는 이름 The Name which is able even to subdue all things to Himself

빌 Philippians 3:21

세 번째로 만물을 복종케 하시는 이름의 놀라운 역사가 나타난다, 빌 3:21, "그는 만물을 자기에게 복종하게 하실 수 있는 자의 역사로 우리의 낮은 몸을 자기 영광의 몸의 형체와 같이 변하게 하시리라". 우리는 비록 아직까지도 완전하지 못하고 아직 죄의 오염된 것을 가지고 있다. 어떻게 보면 참 낮고 천한 몸이다. 그러나 우리 안에 성령을 통해 영광의 몸의 형체로 바뀌어질 줄을 믿는다. 우리 미래가 보장되는 축복을 받게 될 것이다. 

Conclusion

빌 Philippians 3:20

말씀을 맺겠다. 빌 3:20, "그러나 우리의 시민권은 하늘에 있는지라 거기로부터 구원하는 자 곧 주 예수 그리스도를 기다리노니". 이 땅에 살지만 우리는 하늘의 시민권을 소유 한 자로 사는것이다. 성령의 능력을 통해 성화의 과정을 살아가는 자들이다. 우리 안의 보좌의 능력, 망대를 누릴 때 승리하는 삶을 살 줄을 믿는다. 이 응답 받는 여러분 되시기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 축원한다.

18 Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. 19 Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.” 20 And Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.” 21 So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was. 22 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘You have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. 23 You shall not make anything to be with Me—gods of silver or gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves. 24 An altar of earth you shall make for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In every place where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you. 25 And if you make Me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone; for if you use your tool on it, you have profaned it. 26 Nor shall you go up by steps to My altar, that your nakedness may not be exposed on it.’

Introduction

This video clip is talking about Mount Sinai and this video shows the scientific proof of the event recorded in the Bible. When there is fire, many trees get burnt but usually the rocks are not burnt. But the fact that the rocks showed evidence of burning shows the great amount of heat present on those rocks. This shows great proof of the presence of God and the power of God on Mount Sinai. 

1. The Reason for Fear

(1) The Limitations of God's Children

Verses 18-19 - When the Israelites saw a great fire on Mount Sinai, many people became afraid. There were great sounds of thunder and trumpets playing during this time. There was so much fire that everything was burning everything and the great presence of God was there on Mount Sinai. During this great chaos, God spoke to the Israelites. When the Israelites received the 10 commandments from God, the Israelites were trembling in fear. What we must hold onto is why the Israelites were trembling in fear. When God made mankind, God did not make them afraid of Him. The fact that the Israelites were afraid was because of the sin that Adam and Eve committed. There are three reasons here; the fact that they left God’s word, they were bound by Satan, and they fell into sin. From here, we must hold onto one thing. The fact they became afraid was because mankind left the word of God and those who have left the word of God, you have no choice but to become afraid. You are always afraid of the future and what is happening in your life, and when problems come. When you are bound by Satan, then you become afraid. When you commit sin, you become afraid. When sin comes to you, then you become afraid. When sin takes over your life, you become afraid and have no choice but to live a life of fear. When the Israelites were in Egypt, they were to be freed because of the blood of the young lamb. In other words, their sins were forgiven through the blood of the young lamb. Their sins were forgiven and their fear should be gone but they were still afraid. 

The reason is seen in verse 19 - They were hearing the word of God directly but the Israelites were so afraid that they asked Moses to become the primary mediator between God and the people. Even if you are saved, when you live on this earth, we still need a mediator. 

Before God spoke to the people, God said in Exodus 19:10, 12 “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes. 12 You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, ‘Take heed to yourselves that you do not go up to the mountain or touch its base. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.’ ’ ” - Why did God say all of this? The Israelites who were saved and even crossed the Red Sea, God commanded them not to cross this line and made a boundary between Him and the people. God was showing the real spiritual state of the Israelites. In other words, even if the Israelites were saved by the young lamb, God was saying that was not enough because spiritually, they were still struggling. We are saved but we still spiritually pollute that if God came to us directly, we could die. God was showing our spiritual limitations due to our spiritual state, and why they need a mediator. 

That is why God sent us His one and only son in John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.” - God sent us the Holy Spirit to be inside of us and protect us. Why was that? God will be inside of us and be with us, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, God will continue to sanctify us. When we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts, this is the great blessing that we receive. 

(2) Fear and reverence

Verses 20-21 - Because the Israelites were trembling in fear that Moses told the people not to be afraid. The Israelites were so fearful that they thought that they were going to receive God’s judgment and the judgment of death. But Moses reassured the Israelites that they are not receiving God’s judgment but His word and renewal instead. Moses continued to reassure them in verse 20. This is God’s important message that God came to test us. There are times when God would test many people in the Bible like Abraham. In our lives, God will test us. What is God’s test? God is testing and checking our faith. After God had the Israelites hear His word and voice directly, God gave the Israelites a test. God was checking and confirming their faith to make sure that their faith was not shaking and wavering. When God came before them, God came to them to make them fear Him. But this fear is a different word here. To fear God means to look towards God’s glory and acknowledge who God really is. When you have this heart, you will not fall into failure and sin. When we fear God then we will develop faith to entrust all things to God. The person who feared God the most was Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ feared God so much that He even entered into death for God. Jesus Christ died for us means that He entrusted all things to God. Entrusting all things to God means to give all glory to God. 

Verse 21 - The Israelites asked Moses to be their mediator because they were so afraid. When Moses heard their plea, Moses went into the darkness towards God. 

Hebrews 12:21 “And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, ‘I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.’ ” - When Moses went before God as their mediator, Moses was trembling in fear and was also afraid. This shows that Moses is also a human and also possesses sin. The fact that he went before God means that he was staking his life. When Moses entrusted all things to God before the face of death, that was when God was glorified through Moses. After Moses confronted God, it said that after he returned back, they said that his face was shining so brightly that people couldn’t see the face of Moses. When you also enter into God and entrust all things to God, then God’s light will shine through you. 

2. Healing through the Mediator

(1) Through worship

Verses 22-24 - God said that He spoke from heaven to the Israelites. The fact that God spoke from heaven means that He doesn’t belong on Earth but in heaven. God was saying that He is from heaven above but don’t make an idol out of Him. This was because the Israelites would make everything into an idol. God was saying that He was a spiritual being and to give spiritual worship not make an idol. 

Verse 24 - God was shown the mystery on how to receive blessings and answers. God commanded them to build an altar using the dirt from the ground. God was saying not to make an altar out of anything fancy but make it from the ground. When we give worship to God, we should just go before God just as we are. All of our scars and problems, we should not hide ourselves before God but we should show our entire being before God when we give worship. When we show everything to God during worship service then God is most pleased and glorified. God commanded them to give Him a burnt offering which means that we are sacrificing ourselves before God. God is saying for us to give everything of ourselves to God. We need to repent before God and have an upright heart before Him. 

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” - We need to have a harmonious relationship with God. We need to restore our relationship with God. 

When we entrust all things to God and come before God then as it is written in John 4:24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” - Just like I spoke at Friday worship service, I always pray to God that I don’t think there are any more sincere people than our church members and remnants. I think all of our church members are so sincere and pure hearted before God. May we receive true answers from God. 

(2) Healing shame

Verses 25-26 - In this world, there are so many idols that are made to look so beautiful with gold and silver. But God said not to make an altar like that and God is saying don’t focus on making worship physically pleasant only. We should come before God with a sincere and pure heart. 

Verse 26 - When did wearing clothes start? Genesis 3:7, 1:18 “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 1:18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.” - We can see that clothes started when Adam and Eve's eyes became open. What kind of eyes were opened? The eyes to discern good and evil. This was the first thing that happened after they committed sin. When they committed sin, their eyes opened and they became ashamed. After they were feeling ashamed, they wanted to hide. After Adam and Eve committed sin, they were hiding their nakedness with sewed fig leaves. God ended up making clothes for them and also covered their nakedness. Why was that? The fact that Adam and Eve sewed fig leaves together, a church interpreted that Satan had an inappropriate, illicit affair with Eve. 

Genesis 1:18 - The most important part of our bodies are the most important part of God’s covenant. But when sin entered our lives and bodies, they became channels for sin and death. This all happened because their eyes were opened. We must hold onto that God commanded the Israelites for circumcision. The covenant of blood was a covenant to be reborn again. Through the act of circumcision, God gave the Israelites another chance and opportunity to be reborn again. Through the blood of the covenant, circumcision was performed. 

Exodus 28:42 “And you shall make for them linen trousers to cover their nakedness; they shall reach from the waist to the thighs.” - Trousers mean undergarments, which means that this Bible verse is telling us to wear our undergarments. What do circumcision, leather clothes, and undergarments all symbolize? They all represent our mediator, Jesus Christ. Without Jesus Christ, our mediator, and the blood and sacrifice of our mediator, we cannot have our sins covered. In other words, without Jesus Christ, we cannot survive on this earth. Without Jesus Christ, we have to continue to live on this earth ashamed. Without Jesus Christ, we have to continue to live in shame. That is why through Jesus Christ, we are able to receive continued protection and guidance from the Holy Spirit. That is why through the Holy Spirit, we can continue to come before Jesus Christ and go through the sanctification process. We need to entrust all things to God and continue to come before God. When we give worship to God with this heart and life, then we will receive great blessings. When we receive the continued guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can receive three blessings and healing. 

3. Three Experiences of Healing

(1) Healing the inability to pray

Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” - Through the power of the Holy Spirit that is within us, we have received all the authority and power of heaven above to overcome the power of darkness. 

(2) Fundamental healing through the things of Jesus

Matthew 16:16 “Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ ” - We have been completely freed from sin and our fundamental problems. Through the confession of Jesus Christ, may we receive this answer and blessing. 

(3) The Name which is able even to subdue all things to Himself

Philippians 3:21 “Who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” - We are not complete yet and we still possess polluted sin inside of us. We will go before God in incomplete and non-glorious bodies before God but through Jesus Christ, we become holy. 

Conclusion

Philippians 3:20 “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” - As we live on this earth, we have the citizenship of heaven. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, may we live a sanctified life. When we enjoy the bartizan of the covenant and the power of the heavenly throne, we can go through the sanctification process. May we receive these answers.
