“여호와로는 알리지 않았다”

여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 이제 내가 바로에게 하는 일을 네가 보리라 강한 손으로 말미암아 바로가 그들을 보내리라 강한 손으로 말미암아 바로가 그들을 그의 땅에서 쫓아내리라 2 하나님이 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되 나는 여호와이니라 3 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 전능의 하나님으로 나타났으나 나의 이름을 여호와로는 그들에게 알리지 아니하였고 4 가나안 땅 곧 그들이 거류하는 땅을 그들에게 주기로 그들과 언약하였더니 5 이제 애굽 사람이 종으로 삼은 이스라엘 자손의 신음 소리를 내가 듣고 나의 언약을 기억하노라 6 그러므로 이스라엘 자손에게 말하기를 나는 여호와라 내가 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼내며 그들의 노역에서 너희를 건지며 편 팔과 여러 큰 심판들로써 너희를 속량하여 7 너희를 내 백성으로 삼고 나는 너희의 하나님이 되리니 나는 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼낸 너희의 하나님 여호와인 줄 너희가 알지라 8 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주기로 맹세한 땅으로 너희를 인도하고 그 땅을 너희에게 주어 기업을 삼게 하리라 나는 여호와라 하셨다 하라 (출 Exodus 6:1-8)

서론

마틴루터가 종교개혁을 한창 일으키고 있을 때 였다. 교황이 추기경에게 명령을 했다. 루터를 금으로 매수하라 하는 명령 이었다. 그때 추기경은 이렇게 답을 했다 한다, “그 바보는 금을 사랑하지 않습니다”. 그러면서 루터에게 협박 편지 보냈다고 한다. 교황의 작은 손가락 하나가 전 독일 군부보다 더 강하다 말하면서 이번에 교황의 제의를 거절하면 더이상 안전하지 못할것이다. 그렇게되면 네가 어디 가서 살수 있겠느냐 하는 내용이었다. 이에 루터는, “나는 지금 내가 있는 이 곳에 있을것이요, 왜냐하면 그 능력은 하나님 손에 있기 때문이요” 라고 답했다 한다. 정말 믿음의 사람임을 알 수가 있는 고백이다. 우리가 하나님의 손 안에 있다면 그 누구도 무서울게 없다. 이러한 응답 받는 여러분인줄 믿는다. 여러분들은 이미 하나님의 능력의 손 안에 있다. 오늘 말씀 통해 다시 확인 하시기를 바란다. 

1. 하나님의 위로 God's comfort

(1) 네가 보리라 Now you shall see

출 Exodus 6:1

지난시간에는 모세가 바로와 백성들에게 거절 당하는 것을 보았다. 모세는 너무나 실망해서 하나님 앞에 어찌하여 이럴수 있습니까 하나님 앞에 무릎 꿇었다. 사실은 하나님께서 미리 그러한 일이 있을것이라 말씀 하셨음에도 어찌하여 어찌하여 하며 하나님을 원망했다. 그 흐름을 보면 하나님께서는 마땅히 화를 내셨어야 할 것인데 오늘 말씀 보니 전혀 진노하지 않으시고 모세를 위로 하시는 내용이 나온다. 1절, “여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 이제 내가 바로에게 하는 일을 네가 보리라 강한 손으로 말미암아 바로가 그들을 보내리라 강한 손으로 말미암아 바로가 그들을 그의 땅에서 쫓아내리라”. 하나님께서 모세에게 “강한 손으로” 두번씩이나 말씀 하신다. 모세가 언약을 받고 기억 하지 못하는 것을 보고 책망 하셔야 될것인데 전혀 그러시지 않으셨다. 여기서 우리가 중요한 사실을 하나 잡아야겠다. 어째서 하나님께서 모세에게 위로와 답을 또 주셨는가 이것이다. 바로 그것은 하나님의 일을 할때 언약 안에 있을때는 끝까지 힘 주시고 위로 하시는 하나님 되시기 때문이다. 놀라운 사실이다. 우리가 하나님 일 하다가 실망 할때도 있을것이다. 실수 했다고 하더라도 하나님께서 끝까지 힘 주시고 다시 일어날수 있도록 격려 하시는 것을 볼수있다. 주님께서 말씀 하시기를, 바로의 권세도 대단 하지만 내가 강한 손으로 일 하면 아무것도 아니라는 말씀이다. 바로가 그들을 보내도록 내가 만들겠다 하셨다. 하나님이 무서워 벌벌떨며 그 앞에 순종 할 수 밖에 없을것이다 라고 말씀 하시는 것 이다. 그러니까 직면한 문제를 하나님께서 직접 해결 하시는것이다. 내가 하나님 일을 할때, 그러다 막힐때 이렇게 직접 일 하신다. 이 응답 꼭 받으시는 여러분 되시기를 바란다. 그러면서 2절에 말씀 하신다, “하나님이 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되 나는 여호와이니라” 바로를 내쫓을 권능이 내게 있는것 모르느냐, 나는 여호와다 – 천지를 창조하고 시공간 초월하고 스스로 있는 여호와다 라고 답 하시는것이다. 그 이름 하나로 모든것이 끝난것이다. 나 외에 누가 있느냐 이 말이다. 이러한 여호와를 붙잡으시기를 바란다. 구약에 “여호와” 라는 단어가 5,911번이 나오고 “여호와의 이름” 이라는 단어가 90번 나온다. 그러니까 여호와만 붙잡으면 된다고 성경은 계속 강조 하는것이다. 이런 여호와를 붙잡을때 받는 다섯가지 응답이 있다.  

(2) 여호와의 이름 The name of the Lord

출 Exodus 6:2

창 Genesis 22:14, 출 Exodus 15:26, 17:15, 삿 Judges 6:24, 겔 Ezekiel 48:35, 왕상 1 Kings 8:29

창 22:14 말씀 보면 “여호와의 이레” 가 나온다. 미리 준비하시는 하나님이다. 여호와의 이름 붙잡으면 미리 준비 하신다. 출 15:26, “여호와 랍바” 나온다. 치유의 하나님이시다. 어떤 문제 온다 해도 걱정 할 것이 없다, 치유의 하나님 되신다. 출 17:15 “여호와 닛시” 승리의 하나님, 어떤 강력한 군대도 소용없다. 삿 6:24, “여호와 샬롬” – 너희에게 평강을 주시는 하나님. 겔 48:35, “여호와 샴마”. 어디에든 계시는 하나님 이라는 말이다. 여호와 이름에 모든 응답과 답 들어있음을 알수있다. 이 여호와의 응답 안에 있으면 이 모든것은 내게 축복 이라는 말이다. 왕하 8:29, “주께서 전에 말씀하시기를 내 이름이 거기 있으리라 하신 곳 이 성전을 향하여 주의 눈이 주야로 보시오며 주의 종이 이 곳을 향하여 비는 기도를 들으시옵소서” 성전은 바로 하나님 여호와의 이름이 있는 곳 이라는 말이다. 그곳에는 하나님의 눈이 항상 주야로 지키시는 곳 이라는 말이다. 이 시간에도 여호와의 눈이 여러분 지켜보고 계시는 것을 믿으시는가. “주의 종이 이 곳을 향하여 비는 기도를 들으시옵소서” 응답 하시기를 기다리시는 하나님이다. 주의 성전언약 붙잡는 자에게 주신다. 어떤 문제 온다해도 상관없다. 5911 번 이나 말씀 하셨다. 3절에 아주 중요한 말씀 나온다, “내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 전능의 하나님으로 나타났으나 나의 이름을 여호와로는 그들에게 알리지 아니하였고” 이상한 말씀이다, 아브라함, 이삭, 야곱에게는 전능의 하나님으로 나타나셨다 한다. 이 전능의 하나님은 히브리어로 엘 샷다이 라고 한다. 창 17:1 에 아브라함에게 이 말씀 하신다. 아브라함이 99세때 앞에 나타나셔서, 나는 전능한 하나님이니 너는 내 앞에 완전하라 하신다. 전능하심을 말씀하신 이유가 99세인 아브라함에게 내년에 아들을 낳게 될것이라 약속 하신다. 인간의 힘으로는 도저히 불가능한 것이 하나님 힘으로는 가능한것이다. 믿으시는가. 하나님은 전능하시다. 창 35:11, 야곱에게 나타나셔서 또 나는 전능한 하나님이다 하신다. 야곱이 세겜땅에서 어려움을 겪을때다. 거짓말로 인해 많은 사람이 죽게 되는 일이 생긴다. 야곱은 땅을 치면서 그동안 모든 우상, 금, 은을 버리고 땅속에 묻어버리고 벧엘로 가자고 한다. 모든것을 포기하고 벧엘 땅으로 올라간 야곱에게 이렇게 말씀하신다, “나는 전능의 하나님이다”. 그러면서 야곱에게 두려워 말라, 네 후손 통해 많은 왕들이 나타나게 될 것이다 위로 하신다. 

2. 여호와의 사역 The Lord's ministry

(1) 출애굽 이전의 여호와 The Lord before the exodus

출 Exodus 6:3-4

창 Genesis 17:1, 35:11

그렇게 전능하신 하나님이 나타났는데 3절 마지막에, “나의 이름을 여호와로는 그들에게 알리지 아니하였고” 라고 하시는것이다. 이상하지 않나. 그러면 그 이전에는 성경에 여호와라는 말을 쓰지 않았나 생각 할수 있다. 그런데 성경보면 창2:4 부터 벌써 여호와 라는 하나님의 이름이 나온다. 그러면 이 말이 무슨 의미인가. 여러분이 잘 아시다시피 창1장에 엿새동안 천지 창조하시는 “엘로힘” 되시는 하나님이 나온다. 성삼위 하나님을 의미한다. 그런데 창2:4부터 여호와 하나님이 나온다. 창2:4 부터 성부 하나님의 사역이 나오는것이다. 언약적인 관점에서 기록된 것을 알수있다. 여호와께서 아담을 창조하신다. 그리고는 하나님께서 아담에게 언약 주신다. 2:17에 선악을 알게하는 나무의 실과 먹지말라, 먹으면 정녕 죽으리라 하신다. 또 24절에 하와도 부르셔서 여호와 하나님께서 가정의 언약 주신다. 둘이 만나 한 몸을 이룰지니라 하는 언약 이었다. 놀랍게도 하나님은 세상을 창조 하시고 계속해서 언약 주시는 내용이 나온다. 창3에 인간이 타락하니 15 절에 언약을 주신분이 여호와 하나님이다. 범죄한 하나님에게 가죽옷을 입히신것도 여호와 하나님 되신다. 그러면 여호와 하나님은 무엇을 의미하나. 여호와는 언약의 하나님 되심을 의미한다. 그런데 또 놀라운 말씀 나타난다, “여호와로는 그들에게 알리지 아니하였고” 이렇게 일 하셔놓고 알리지 않았다 하시는것이다. 중요한것은 여기에 사용된 히브리어가 “야다” 인데 원어를 보면 체험하게 한다 라는 의미를 가지고있다. 여호와로 그들에게 이름은 알리셨지만 언약을 체험하는 은혜는 주시지 않았다는 말이다. 그러면 체험하게 하는 언약은 무엇인가. 그것이 4절에 나온다, “ 가나안 땅 곧 그들이 거류하는 땅을 그들에게 주기로 그들과 언약하였더니”. 이것은 아브라함과 하나님께서 맺은 창15장에 나온 횃불 언약을 말한다. 그때 하나님께서 , “언약을 세워 가라사대 내가 이 땅을 애굽강에서부터 그 큰 강 유브라데까지 네 자손에게 주노니” 언약 주신것이다. 

(2) 출애굽 이후의 여호와 The Lord after the exodus

출 Exodus 6:5-8

이 언약 주시고 5절에, “이제 애굽 사람이 종으로 삼은 이스라엘 자손의 신음 소리를 내가 듣고 나의 언약을 기억하노라”. 430년 동안 고통 받은 이스라엘의 소리를 듣고 이제 언약을 기억한다 말하는것이다. 그러면 그동안 잊고 계셨나 그렇게 생각하면 잘못 된것이다. 여기서 기억 한다는 말은 언약의 성취의 때가 되었다는 말이다. 다시 말해 야다, “체험”케 하는 그 때가 되었다는 말씀이다. 굉장히 중요한 순간을 말한다. 그래서 6절에도 나온다, “그러므로 이스라엘 자손에게 말하기를 나는 여호와라” 이제는 체험 할 때가 되었다, 내가 여호와다 하시는 말이다. 그 언약의 내용이 뭔가, “내가 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼내며 그들의 노역에서 너희를 건지며 편 팔과 여러 큰 심판들로써 너희를 속량하여” 너를 건지며 속량 하겠다는 내용이 나온다. 바로 이것이 언약의 핵심이다. 유월절 언약의 피 통해 구원 하시겠다 이 말이다. 이것을 감추셨다가 드디어 출애굽 하게 하신것이다. 너무나 귀중한 사건을 감추었다 드러나게 하신다. 그 목적이 7절에 나온다, “너희를 내 백성으로 삼고 나는 너희의 하나님이 되리니 나는 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼낸 너희의 하나님 여호와인 줄 너희가 알지라”. 너희를 내 백성 삼고 내가 네 하나님이 되게 하기 위해 이렇게 했다 이 말씀이다. 이 어린양의 피 붙잡는 자는 누구든 한명도 빠짐없이 산다는 말이다. 피바른다고 뭐가 되겠느냐 무시하는 사람들은 다 심판받은것이다. 다시말해 피를 받고 순종한 자는 하나님의 백성이 되는 축복이 임했다. 바로 요1:11, “영접 하는 자 곧 그 이름을 믿는 자들에게는 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 주셨으니”, 성취인것이다. 피를 바르는 자는 다 살아나는것이다. 피를 바르는 자가 언약의 백성 되는것이다. “나는 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼낸 너희의 하나님 여호와인 줄 너희가 알지라” 라고 말씀 하신다. 여호와 하나님이 누구 신지 또 한번 말하는것이다. 바로왕, 사단의 무거운 짐에서 너희를 해방시킨 여호와 하나님 이라는 말이다. 다시 말해 언약을 성취하는 여호와 하나님 되신다는 말이다. 그래서 “여호와” 라고 부를때 “언약의 하나님!” 이라 부르는 것이다. 8절, “내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주기로 맹세한 땅으로 너희를 인도하고 그 땅을 너희에게 주어 기업을 삼게 하리라 나는 여호와라 하셨다 하라”. 아브라함, 이삭, 야곱에게 약속 하셨던 가나안 땅 으로 인도 하시겠다 이 말이다. 그 땅을 기업으로 삼겠다 하시는 말이다. 이것은 영원한 천국을 보장 하신것이다. 이 여호와 하나님을 보고 우리가 무엇을 잡아야 하는가. 우리에게 완전한 구원의 여정을 보장하신것이다. 지금까지 인도하신 하나님이 바로 이 여호와 하나님 되신다. 나를 한국 땅 에서 부터 여기까지 오게 하시고 달라스 까지 오게 하신 분이 이 여호와 하나님이 되신다. 지금까지 나는 완전한 인도 하심 속에 있었다는 말이다. 이것은 또 무엇을 말하나. 천국 가는 그 날까지 너희를 완벽하게 인도 하겠다는 말이다. “나는 여호와라 – 말하라 하셨다. 말씀 하시면 반드시 성취된다 라는 말이다. 내가 준 언약은 반드시 성취된다 이 말씀이다. 성경을 통해 주신 모든 언약 반드시 성취되는것이다. 이 언약 잡는 자에게는 하나님께서는 최고의 힘을 얻고 놀라운 위로와 능력의 역사 있을것이다. 

3. 여호와의 인도 The Lord's guidance

(1) 오직 한 팀 Only one team

출 Exodus 5:1

그러면 우리를 인도하실때 우리가 어떻게 해야 하는가 이말이다. 한사람 언약 지난주에 잡으셨듯이 한 팀의 언약 잡으시라, 출5:1, “그 후에 모세와 아론이 바로에게 가서 이르되 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하시기를 내 백성을 보내라 그러면 그들이 광야에서 내 앞에 절기를 지킬 것이니라 하셨나이다” 하나님은 출애굽 하실때 모세와 요셉 한 팀을 이뤄 사용 하셨다. 출애굽 통해 가나안 가실때도 7명 사용 하시고 블레셋에서도 4명 사용 하셨다. 여러분들에게 팀이 이미 구성된 줄을 믿는다. 이 팀을 만나는것이 대단히 중요하다. 하나님께서 언약을 시작 하시면서 가정이라는 팀을 주시고 베필을 허락해 주셨다. 베필은 동역자를 말한다. 모든 하나님의 언약이 성취되기 시작한다. 여러분의 가정도, 부부도 중요한 팀이다. 여러분에게 주어진 기도팀도 아주 중요한 팀이다. 어떻게 운영하냐에 따라 미래가 결정된다. 미래에 축복 받기 위해 어떤 일을 해야하나. 언약 안에서 언약 붙잡아야한다. 그렇게 되면 하나님께서 능력으로 임하시고 되어지는 축복 주실것이다. 놀라운 응답의 역사 여러분 통해 있을것이다. 모세와 아론이라는 팀 통해 놀라운 구속의 역사 이루셨듯이 여러분 통해서도 하나님께서 일하실것 이다. 여러분 가정에서도 확인 해 보시라. 부부간에, 가족간에 우리가 언약 안에 있는가 없는가 꼭 확인 하시라. 언약안에 한 팀이 되었느냐 이 말이다. 여기 따라 하나님의 역사 달라지고 응답이 달라질 것이다. 한 팀의 축복 속에 있기를 바란다. 

(2) 기도팀(전도팀) Prayer team (evangelism team)

롬 Romans 1:9, 고후 2 Corinthians 1:11

두번째 답은 기도팀, 전도팀이다. 여러분, 로마서 1:9말씀 보면, “내가 그의 아들의 복음 안에서 내 심령으로 섬기는 하나님이 나의 증인이 되시거니와 항상 내 기도에 쉬지 않고 너희를 말하며”. 여러분, 이 팀이 결성되었다 하면 24기도로 들어가시면 된다. 남편은 아내를 위해 24, 아내는 남편 위해 24 기도 하시라. 부모는 자녀 위해 24, 자식은 부모 위해 24 기도 하셔야한다. 결성된 팀 위해 24로 기도 하시라. 아침에 777 기도부터 시작 하는것이다. 저녁에는 메시지 정리 하면서 받은 은혜 묵상하는 시간 가지시라. 낮에는 순간순간 모든것 속에 응답 확인 하는것이다. 우리는 기도에 집중 해야한다. 고후 1:11, “너희도 우리를 위하여 간구함으로 도우라 이는 우리가 많은 사람의 기도로 얻은 은사로 말미암아 많은 사람이 우리를 위하여 감사하게 하려 함이라”. 여러분들에게 제가 부탁 드린다. 중직자분들에게 기도 부탁 드렸지면 저를 위해 24로 기도 해 주시라. 여러분의 기도 없이는 저는 살아날수 없다. 저는 한순간도 스스로 설수 없는 연약한 존재임을 여러분께서 기억 해 주시라. 지금까지도 제가 이 자리에 여러분의 기도 덕에 서있다. 언약 안에 더 힘써 기도 하시라. 우리의 전환점은 시작 되었다. 저도 여러분 위해 힘써 24로 기도 하겠다. 렘넌트들 위해 24로 기도 하시리다. 우리 렘넌트 가운데 류목사님 대를 이을 전도자 나오기를 기도한다. 미국 살리고 세계 살릴 전도자가 우리 교회 안에 반드시 나올줄을 믿는다. 언약 속에 기도하면 능력으로 응답 하신다 했다. 응답 받으시라.

결론 Conclusion

빌 Philippians 3:14

말씀 맺겠다. 빌3:14, “푯대를 향하여 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님이 위에서 부르신 부름의 상을 위하여 달려가노라”. 사도바울의 삶을 나타낸것이다. 이 시간에 푯대 정하시라. 그리고 부르심의 상을 바라보시라. 우리가 이미 지난주부터 새로운 전환점의 시작을 했다. 새 응답 받으시는 여러분 되시기를 주의 이름으로 축원한다.

1 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land.” 2 And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I am the Lord. 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name Lord I was not known to them. 4 I have also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were strangers. 5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant. 6 Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. 7 I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the Lord.’ ”

Introduction

Martin Luther was leading the religious reformation and during that time, the pope gave an order to buy Martin Luther out with gold. But the people responded that Martin Luther does not turn an eye towards gold at all. They wrote a letter to Martin Luther threatening that one finger of the pope is stronger than any german army so they threatened him to listen to the pope because Martin Luther has nowhere to escape. But Martin Luther responded to the letter that he will stay put because the power is within God’s hands. When you look at this response, you can see that Martin Luther is a person of faith. If you are within the hands of God, you should not be afraid. You must remember this. You are within the hands of God. Through this sermon, may you confirm this once again.

1. God's Comfort

(1) Now you shall see

Verse 1 - Moses was so disappointed and pleaded with God on how God could do this to them as we saw last sermon. We can see that Moses resented God even though God already gave him answers in advance and forgot about all of this. God should’ve been angry and furious with Moses for not remembering His words but God was not furious at all but comforted Moses instead. God gave Moses reassurance saying that God will allow Pharaoh to let His people go with a strong hand. God should’ve scolded Moses to remember His words and why Moses didn’t remember His words but instead, God comforted and reassured Moses. Why did God comfort and reassure Moses? When we do God’s work and are within God’s covenant, God will give us strength and will guide us till the end. This is astounding. When we do God’s work, we may become disappointed with the process and results. When you make mistakes, God will give you strength and will help you stand back up. God said that with a strong hand, He will make sure Pharaoh will let His people go. God is reassuring Moses that Pharaoh will eventually let God’s people go. God reassured Moses that Pharaoh will let God’s people go with trembling fear. God addressed this problem a long time ago with Moses. God will come forward when we feel powerless and weak in front of a problem that we feel like we can’t handle anymore. 

(2) The name of the Lord

Verse 2 - God told Moses that He possesses the power to let Pharaoh let go His people. God is the Lord God, He is the Creator God. And, He is the ultimate judge. He possesses the power to transcend time and space. God said that He is the Lord. Who can overcome Him? God was saying this. We must hold onto this God. The word, "Jehovah” appears 5,011 times in the Bible. This means that we must hold onto God. This shows how important it is for us to hold onto the Lord God. 

Genesis 22:14 “And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, 'In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.' ” - Jehovah Jireh, God will provide in advance. When we hold onto God, then God will prepare everything in advance. 

Exodus 15:26, 17:15 “And said, ‘If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.’ 17:15 And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner.” - Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals. God will heal us and everything so no need for us to worry about anything. 

Jehovah-Nissi, The Lord God who gives us victory. No matter what problems come to us, don’t worry because God will give us victory no matter what. 

Judges 6:24 “So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The-Lord-Is-Peace. To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.” - Jehovah Shalom, The God of peace. 

Ezekiel 48:35 “All the way around shall be eighteen thousand cubits; and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE.” - Jehovah-Shammah, God who is everywhere. The name of the Lord possesses all power and answers. When we are within the covenant of the Lord God then everything becomes ours. 

1 Kings 8:29 “That Your eyes may be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place.” - What is the temple? It is where the name of the Lord God is. Where the Lord God is, God’s eyes are always there and watching. God’s eyes are always watching you. Do you believe in this? You are praying that God will hear your prayers. God is always waiting to give you answers. God will hear your prayers and will answer your prayers. This takes place within the temple and where God is. No matter what problem we face, God will be waiting for us to give us answers. God wants to give you answers. 

2. The Lord's Ministry

(1) The Lord before the exodus

Verses 3-4 - This is very interesting. The Lord Almighty is El Shaddai in Hebrew.

Genesis 17:1, 35:11 “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, ‘I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. 35:11 Also God said to him: ‘I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body.’ ” - God appeared before Moses proclaiming that He is the Lord God almighty. It may be impossible within the hands of man but it is possible through God Almighty. Do you believe in this? God is the Almighty God. 

Genesis 35:11 - God proclaims once again that He is the Lord God Almighty. Jacob was facing a difficulty and there was chaos that occurred for Jacob but at that time, he took all of the idols and trashed all of it. Jacob discarded everything and repented to God, and departed that land and went to a different land. God gave Jacob the message that He was the Almighty God. 

It says that the Lord’s name was not known to them in verse 3. What does this mean? 

Genesis 2:4 “This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.” - The name of God comes up in this verse and what happened in Genesis 2? In Genesis 1, God created the entire universe and world as the Creator God. The Triune God created the entire universe and world. But in Genesis 2:4, we can see the name, Jehovah God. We can see the work of God the Father in Genesis 2. God created Adam and Eve and then gave Adam a covenant to not eat the forbidden fruit or they will surely die. Then, God created Eve and formed a family. God gave the family a covenant. Through this family, they will become one body. God created them and constantly gave them His covenant. When mankind became deceived and corrupted, God gave them another covenant. God the Father gave them clothing to cover up. Who was the God the Father? God the Father is the Jehovah God, the God of the covenant. 

Verse 3 - But it was written that the Lord’s name was not known to them. They did not experience the name of the Lord God nor God’s covenant. What is this covenant that we must experience? 

Verse 4 - This was the covenant, the torch covenant, that was formed between Abraham and God. 

(2) The Lord after the exodus

Verses 5-8 - Israelites who were suffering for 400 years, the Israelites finally remembered God’s covenant. It doesn’t mean that they forgot it and remembered it again but it means that it was time for them to experience God’s covenant. After many, many years, it was time for them to experience God’s covenant. This is very important. God was saying that He is the Lord God, He is the God of the covenant. What is the content of this covenant? It was verse 5. God will deliver and redeem them. This is the core of the covenant. Through the blood sacrifice, they will finally be freed. God was proclaiming that He is the God Almighty and will have them experience His covenant. It was finally time for the Israelites to experience God’s covenant. 

Verse 7 - God said that He will be their God and will take the Israelites as His people. All of the people who participated in the blood of the young lamb, God promised to them that they will become His people and He will be their God. Those who rejected God’s blood covenant, they all perished. Those who participated and held onto the blood of the young lamb, they are able to experience being God’s people.

John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” - If you put blood of the young lamb, you will live and will become people of the covenant. God promised that He will bring them out of the burdens of the Egyptians and be their God. The Jehovah God will free you from the burdens of Satan. The Jehovah God will fulfill His covenant and word through you. The Jehovah God is the God of the covenant. 

Verse 8 - God will lead His people, the Israelites, to the land of Canaan that was promised to their forefathers. This is the guarantee of eternal heaven. Jehovah God means that God is in control of all things and our salvation. God who has guided us until now. God, Jehovah God, who has guided you from the land of Korea to this land of America. Jehovah God who has guided your life until now. Until we go to heaven, God will continue to guide and protect you till the end. That is why God said to proclaim that He is the Lord. His Word will absolutely be fulfilled. All of the words of the Bible will be fulfilled no matter what. If you hold onto God’s covenant, then you will experience His power. Those who hold onto God’s covenant, then you will experience God’s comfort and power. Hold onto God’s covenant in the name of Jesus Christ. There is nothing for you to worry about. 

3. The Lord's Guidance

(1) Only one team

Exodus 5:1 “Afterward Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Let My people go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.’ ” - God formed a team with Moses and Aaron through the event of the Passover. God always worked through a team as you can see in the Bible. In Philistine, God also used a team. You need to understand what a team is. Who you meet is every important. A family is a team. Your spouse will be your teammate. Your coworkers can be your team too. This is very important. Your family and spouse are your important team mates. The prayer team that you are in, that is also very important. Your prayer teams will determine your future. Whether you are in the covenant or not, this will determine your future. If you are within God’s covenant, then God will reveal His great power in your future. God will show great works in your life and future. Through the team of Moses and Aaron, God showed great works. The same great work will take place in your team. Confirm this within your family. With your spouse and family, are you guys within the covenant? Are you one with God’s covenant? This will determine your future and what answers you guys will receive. May you receive answers as a team. 

(2) Prayer team (evangelism team)

Romans 1:9 “For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers.” - When you are able to form a team, how will you guys pray? Enter into 24 hour prayer. As a husband, pray for your wife 24 hours. As a wife, pray for your husband 24 hours. As a parent, pray for your child 24 hours. As a child, pray for your parent 24 hours. In the morning, start with 7-7-7 prayer. At night time, meditate over the message and reexamine your day. During the day time, think about the word and answers. You must focus within prayer. 

What is important is 2 Corinthians 1:11 “You also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.” - I want to request that you pray for me 24 hours. Without your prayers, I cannot live and stand by myself. I am a weak human being and I survive through your prayers. I am here now because of your prayers. I request that you pray for me. This must be our turning point. I am continuously praying for you. Pray for the remnants 24 hours. I am praying that among our remnants, an individual like Rev. Kwang-Su Ryu can arise. I pray that an evangelist will arise within our church who can save America. If we pray with God’s covenant then God will absolutely answer us. May you receive answers. 

Conclusion

Hold onto Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” - This was the life of Paul. Set a goal. Look towards the prize. May you receive new answers.
