“도둑질하지 말라” (출애굽기 20:15)

서론 Introduction

제가 해외에 자주 나가는데 나갈 때마다 가끔 가이드하는 분들이 이야기하는 것이 있다. 도둑을 조심하십쇼 한다. 그런 이야기를 들을 때마다 섭섭한 마음이 들기도 한다. 잘사는 나라, 유럽 같은 데를 가도 짐을 조심하고 소매치기 조심하라고 하신다. 한 분이 유럽에 있는 어떤 브런치 카페에서 빵을 시켰는데 커피만 들고 오고 빵은 거기 두고 온 것이다. 그래서 자리에 커피를 두고 빵을 찾으러 갔다. 잠깐 자리를 비운 것인데 빵을 둔 자리에 빵이 없는 것이다. 그래서 자리로 돌아갔는데 커피도 없어져 있었다. 잘사는 나라인데 이런 일이 빈번하다. 도둑질은 돈이 없어서만 하는 것이 아니다. 생각과 마음과 양심이 사로잡혀 이런 일을 하기도 한다. 아무리 돈 없고 가난하더라도 양심적으로 사는 사람들이 많다. 잡혀 있는 상태가 그를 그렇게 만들었다고 보면 된다. 오늘 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 말씀은 "도둑질하지 말라" 이다. 도둑질에는 두 가지가 있다. 도둑질과 도적질이 있다. 도둑질은 영어로 stealing, theft를 사용한다. 이것은 모르는 사이에 훔치는 것을 말한다. 그런데 도적질은 robbery, looting이라고 한다. 몰래 하는 게 아니라 대놓고 강제로 약탈하는 것을 말한다. 오늘 말씀은 구체적으로 “도둑질” 하지 말라고 하신 말씀이다. 몰래 살짝 훔치는 것을 말한다. 도적질 같은 대놓고 사악하게 사탄에게 쓰임받는 것 말고 몰래, 아무도 모르게 행하는 도둑질에 대해 말씀하시는 것이다. 하나님이 지금 이스라엘에게 도둑질하지 말라 하시는 말씀을 주신 것은 단순히 율법으로 때려잡기 위함이 아니라 이들의 연약함을 치유하시기 위한 말씀임을 알아야겠다. 앞에서는 모르는 척하고 뒤에서 딴짓을 하면서 도둑질하는 것을 하지 말라는 말씀이다. 

1. 도둑질의 정의 The Definition of Stealing

(1) 사람의 것을 도둑질 Stealing things that belong to others

출 Exodus 20:15, 22:1, 21:16, 29:24, 20:14

도둑질에도 두 가지 종류가 있다. 하나는 사람에게 하는 것이고 또 하나는 하나님에게 하는 것이다. 사람에게 하는 도둑질은 출애굽기 22:1에 나온다. "사람이 소나 양을 도둑질하여 잡거나 팔면 그는 소 한 마리에 소 다섯 마리로 갚고 양 한 마리에 양 네 마리로 갚을지니라." 율법주의자들이 보기에는 양 한 마리 훔쳤는데 그것을 다섯 마리로 갚으라는 게 납득이 안 될 수가 있다. 하나님이 심하게 하시는 게 아니라, 이것이 사실 사랑의 메시지임을 우리가 붙잡아야겠다. 

이 말씀 가운데, 죄를 각인시키심으로 너의 잘못된 생각을 잊지 말고 치유받아야 한다 하시는 것이다. 한 마리 훔쳤는데 다섯 배로 갚아야 하는 경험을 하면 큰 교훈을 얻게 되지 않겠는가. 출애굽기 21:16, "사람을 납치한 자가 그 사람을 팔았든지 자기 수하에 두었든지 그를 반드시 죽일지니라". 물건만 훔치는 게 아니라 사람까지 훔치는 자들이 있다는 말이다. 바로 유괴하는 사람이다. 이것에 대해 하나님이 엄하게 말씀하시면서 "반드시 죽일지니라" 하신다. 이것은 그가 가정 파괴자이기 때문이다. 지난 시간에도 설명했지만 하나님은 이렇게나 가정을 사랑하시고 보호하신다. 법을 통하여서 가정이 무너지는 것을 철저하게 방지하시는 것이다. 하나님의 자녀라면 마땅히 남의 가정도 귀히 여겨야 한다. 또 잠언서 29:24, “도둑과 짝하는 자는 자기 영혼을 미워하는 자라. 그는 저주를 들어도 진술하지 아니하느니라. 보면 도둑질을 혼자 하지 않고 공모해서 같이 하는 사람이 있다. 이에 하나님은 네 영혼을 미워하는 일이라고 하셨다. 곧 자기 인격을 포기한 자라는 말이다. 공모하는 자들은 그 영혼이 붙잡힌 사람인 것이다. 네 영혼이 그에게 붙잡힌 것을 기억하라 하시는 말이다. 얼마나 적나라하게 우리에게 치유의 말씀을 주시고 있는지 알 수 있는 구절이다. 잠언 20:14, "사는 자가 물건이 좋지 못하다 좋지 못하다 하다가 돌아간 후에는 자랑하느니라". 사면서 물건의 상태에 대해 불만을 말하면서 깎아서 산 다음에 돌아가서 주변에 잘 샀다고 자랑하는 경우가 있다. 이러한 것 때문에 너의 양심을 팔지 말라 하시는 것이다. 하나님 자녀면 무엇을 하든 떳떳하게 살라는 것이다. 

(2) 하나님의 것을 도둑질 Stealing things that belong to God

레 Leviticus 5:16, 말 Malachi 3;8, 23:30, 마 Matthew 24:24

두 번째로 하나님의 것을 도적질하지 말라고 하신다. 레위기 5:16, "성물에 대한 잘못을 보상하되 그것에 오분의 일을 더하여 제사장에게 줄 것이요 제사장은 그 속건제의 숫양으로 그를 위하여 속죄한즉 그가 사함을 받으리라". 교회에서 좋은 물건을 보고 주머니에 쓱 집어넣는 사람이 있다. 이게 하나님의 물건에 손을 대는 행위이다. 그 조그만 행동 하나 때문에 큰 숫양을 제물로 바치고 용서함을 받으라 하신다. 항상 믿음의 순결을 지키라는 의미에서 하신 말씀이다. 말라기 3:8, "사람이 어찌 하나님의 것을 도둑질하겠느냐 그러나 너희는 나의 것을 도둑질하고도 말하기를 우리가 어떻게 주의 것을 도둑질하였나이까 하는도다 이는 곧 십일조와 봉헌물이라". 십일조에 대해 말씀하시면서 올바른 물질관을 가지라고 하시는 것이다. 십일조를 드리는 것은 모든 물질과 경제, 일어나는 일 전부가 하나님께로 오는 것임을 고백하고, 나는 청지기에 지나지 않는다고 고백하는 행위인 것이다. 항상 나의 생명의 주인 되시는 주님을 바라보며 믿음의 치유를 받아야 하는 것이다. 예레미야 23:30, "여호와의 말씀이라 그러므로 보라 서로 내 말을 도둑질하는 선지자들을 내가 치리라." 중직자들이나 말씀 사역자들이 이런 짓을 잘한다. 말씀을 자기에게 유리하게 풀어나가는 것이다. 이 구절은 이에 올바른 말씀관을 가져라 하는 의미로 주신 말씀이다. 하나님께서는 언제나 성경과 메시지를 통해 그리스도의 대속을 중심으로 말씀 주신다. 그래서 예배마다 그리스도가 선포되지 않으면 안 되는 것이다. 구속의 방법과 모든 문제 해결하는 그리스도의 해답을 찾는 것이 예배요 예배와 이기 때문이다. 살아 계신 하나님이 지금도 우리에게 이 답을 주시는 것으로 우리에게 필요한 것은 바로 그 답 되신 그리스도다. 마태복음 24:24, "거짓 그리스도들과 거짓 선지자들이 일어나 큰 표적과 기사를 보여 할 수만 있으면 택하신 자들도 미혹하리라". 이건 적그리스도들이 쓰는 방법이다. 많은 사람들이 눈에 보이는 표적들에 속는다. 속지 말라는 것이다. 그러면 우리는 표적을 어디서 찾아야 하는가? 표적은 하나님의 말씀의 성취에서 찾는 것이다. 오늘 “도둑질하지 말라” 는 말씀 통해서도 이를 확실하게 붙잡는 여러분 되시기를 바란다.

2. 도둑질의 원인 The Causes of Stealing

(1) 사탄의 전략 Satan’s strategy

요 John 10:10, 창 Genesis 3:3, 5

요 John 8:44, 눅 Luke 4:5-6

그러면 오늘 왜 도둑질을 하는가에 대해서 알아봐야겠다. 요 10:10에 이유가 나와 있다: "도둑이 오는 것은 도둑질하고 죽이고 멸망시키려는 것뿐이요 내가 온 것은 양으로 생명을 얻게 하고 더 풍성히 얻게 하려는 것이라." 사탄이 사람의 생명을 도둑질하러 오는 것이다. 창세기 3장에서 하와에게 찾아온 사탄을 보면 알 수가 있다. 창세기 3:3, "동산 중앙에 있는 나무의 열매는 하나님의 말씀에 너희는 먹지도 말고 만지지도 말라 너희가 죽을까 하노라 하셨느니라". 여기에 하와가 하는 대답은 전혀 복음이 아닌 자기의 생각이었다. 중요한 메시지를 우리에게 주고 계신다. 우리에게 주신 하나님의 말씀, 언약을 놓치는 순간 사탄은 공격한다. 바로 이렇게 영혼을 도둑질하기 위해 사탄은 달려드는 것이다. 창 3:5에 뱀을 통해서 강하게 유혹한다, "너희가 그것을 먹는 날에는 너희 눈이 밝아져 하나님과 같이 되어 선악을 알 줄 하나님이 아심이니라" 언약이 희미한 하와의 상태를 알고 사탄은 강력한 유혹의 메시지를 한다. 그렇게 육안이 떠지게 만든다. 이로 인해 죄의 눈, 탐욕의 눈, 욕심의 눈이 떠진 것이다. 그렇게 보암직도 하고 탐스러운 것들이 눈에 들어오기 시작한 것이다. 요한복음 8:44, "너희는 너희 아비 마귀에게서 났으니 너희 아비의 욕심대로 너희도 행하고자 하느니라 그는 처음부터 살인한 자요 진리가 그 속에 없으므로 진리에 서지 못하고 거짓을 말할 때마다 제 것으로 말하나니 이는 그가 거짓말쟁이요 거짓의 아비가 되었음이라" 여기서 예수님께서는 마귀의 본성에 대해 정확하게 말씀 하신다. 욕심과 탐욕, 그것이 바로 마귀의 본성이다. 그리고 이 아비의 자녀들은 자연스럽게 본성에 이런 것들이 있는 것이다. 누가 가르쳐 주지도 않았는데 자유의지로 이것들을 쫓아가는 것이다. 거짓말하고 악을 행하는 이유가 바로 이러한 본질이 우리 안에 있기 때문이다. 사탄은 예수님에게도 거짓 증언한다. 누가복음 4:5-6, "마귀가 또 예수를 이끌고 올라가서 순식간에 천하 만국을 보이며 6 이르되 이 모든 권위와 그 영광을 내가 네게 주리라 이것은 내게 넘겨 준 것이므로 내가 원하는 자에게 주노라". 자기가 온 세상을 누리고 있는 모습을 예수님 앞에 펼쳐 보인 것이다. 세상 구석구석에서 우상 숭배하고 자기를 섬기는 모습을 예수님께 보여주면서 하나님께서 이것을 내게 넘겨주신 것이다, 거짓으로 말하는 것이다. 하와와 아담을 속인, 유괴범이 마치 하나님께 허락받고 행한 것처럼 거짓말하는 것이다. 그러면서 자기를 경배하면 이 모든 것 다 주겠다고 유혹한다. 이에 예수님이 사탄아 물러가라 하신다. 사탄의 유혹이 있을 때는 “사탄아 물러가라” 단호하게 선포해야 하는 것이다, 이것이 곧 성경이 가르치는 바이다. 예수님께서 우리를 위해 생명을 내놓으신 것을 볼 수 있다. 고통 없이 영광을 얻으신 게 아니라 생명을 내놓으시고 하나님께 영광 돌리시는 것을 선택하셨다. 그렇게 말씀을 성취시키신다. 이렇듯 우리는 말씀을 선택해야 한다. 제 8계명을 통해 주신 치유의 말씀을 붙잡아야겠다. 

(2) 8계명을 주신 이유 The reason the Eighth Commandment was given

엡 Ephesians 1:3, 골 Colossians 2:3, 빌 Philippians 4:13, 19

왜 도둑질하지 말라는 말씀을 이렇게 안타깝게 하시고 계시는가? 우리가 붙잡을 메시지를 보아야겠다. 에베소서 1:3. "찬송하리로다 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께서 그리스도 안에서 하늘에 속한 모든 신령한 복을 우리에게 주시되". 하나님께서 자녀들에게 이미 하늘에 속한 모든 신령한 복을 주셨다는 사실을 8계명을 통해 깨달아야 하는 것이다. 뭐가 없다고 생각하지 말고 이미 모든 것을 가졌음을 깨달아야겠다. 골로새서 2:3, "그 안에는 지혜와 지식의 모든 보화가 감추어져 있느니라". 하나님께서 모든 축복과 보화의 근원이 되심을 말하는 것이다. 그리스도 안에는 모든 것이 다 들어 있는 그 비밀을 찾으라는 말이다. 세상 사람들은 눈에 보이는 것만 쫓아다닌다. 하나님이 주시는 지혜와 지식을 갖게 되면 그 안에 모든 것이 다 들어 있다, 이 말이다. 빌 4:13에 한다, "내게 능력 주시는 자 안에서 내가 모든 것을 할 수 있느니라." 주님의 능력, 곧 창조의 능력이 너의 능력이다. 이 말씀이다. 우리에게 이 창조의 능력이 나타나면 끝인 것이다. 이 창조의 능력 속에 있는 우리가 못할 것이 무엇인가, 이 말이다. 그 믿음을 가지라는 말씀이다. 빌 4:19, "나의 하나님이 그리스도 예수 안에서 영광 가운데 그 풍성한 대로 너희 모든 쓸 것을 채우시리라." 하나님께서는 우리가 무엇이 필요하고 어떻게 해야 하는지 전부 다 알고 계신다. 그렇게 전적인 믿음을 가지고 기도만 하면 응답이 온다고 하시는 말씀이다. 모든 것을 다 채우신다고 했다. 이러한 응답을 받는 여러분이 되시기를 바란다. 여러분에게는 부족한 것이 아무것도 없다. 이 사실을 누리고 당당하게 사시기를 바란다. 

3. 세상 살리는 망대 The Bartizan That Saves the World

(1) 오직 Only

행 Acts 1:7

그렇다면 우리가 세상 살릴 망대를 세워야겠다. 오직을 붙잡아야겠다. 행 1:7, "이르시되 때와 시기는 아버지께서 자기의 권한에 두셨으니 너희가 알 바 아니요." 세상은  이런 법, 저런 법 통해서 우리로 두려움과 위기의식을 느끼게 한다. 그런데 오늘 말씀은 전혀 걱정하지 말라고 하신다. 하나님께서 모든 것은 내 권한과 시간표 안에 있다, 그러니 걱정하지 말아라 하신다. 그저 언약만 붙잡아라, 내가 너희와 항상 함께하겠다고 약속하셨다. 

(2) 유일성 Uniqueness

행 Acts 1:4

두 번째로 유일성을 붙잡아야겠다, 행 1:4, "사도와 함께 모이사 그들에게 분부하여 이르시되 예루살렘을 떠나지 말고 내게서 들은 바 아버지께서 약속하신 것을 기다리라". 모든 염려와 근심을 다 버리고 우리가 바라볼 것은 오직 하나님이 약속하신 그것이다. 하나님의 언약의 말씀을 붙잡으라는 말이다. 그것을 붙잡고 24시로 기도하라는 말이다. 우리가 유일하게 할 것은 모든 염려와 근심을 버리고 기도만 하는 것이다. 

(3) 재창조 Re-creation

행 Acts 1:8

그렇게 될 때 재창조의 역사가 일어난다. 행 1:8, "오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라" 너희를 "함께" 의 증인으로 삼겠다 하는 말씀이다. 이 약속의 말씀을 꼭 붙잡으시라. 이것을 정말 나의 언약으로 붙잡을 때 하나님이 성취해 줄 것이라고 믿는다. 

Conclusion

행 Acts 4:32

말씀을 맺겠다. 사도행전 4:32, "믿는 무리가 한마음과 한 뜻이 되어 모든 물건을 서로 통용하고 자기 재물을 조금이라도 자기 것이라 하는 이가 하나도 없더라". 초대교회 모든 성도들이 응답받은 이유가 여기에서 나타난다. 이들이 모든 축복을 받은 이유가 이것이다. 모든 것은 하나님의 주권 아래에 있다. 모든 것은 하나님의 소유이다. 우리는 관리자일 뿐이고 부르심을 받아 나온 청지기일 뿐이지 그 이상 그 이하도 아니다. 우리의 주인 되신 주님만 바라보며 그저 그가 시키는 대로 하기만 하면 된다. 어떻게 하나님께 영광을 돌릴까? 그것만 놓고 기도하시라. 오늘 주신 언약의 말씀 확실히 붙잡는 여러분 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원한다.

You shall not steal.

Introduction

I go overseas often and when I do go overseas, there are a few things that travel guides say often. They often warn me of robbers and people who try to pickpocket when you travel. When I hear those warnings, I get a little upset because even in Europe when I went to travel, there were many people who would steal from others and pickpocket. There was one individual who was enjoying their meal during brunch and he bought his coffee with him but he forgot his bread. So he went back to retrieve the bread that he forgot on the counter but the bread disappeared even though he just ordered. When he told the staff that he forgot his bread but when he went back to his table, his coffee disappeared. Europe is a nice and wealthy country but there have been high cases of pickpocketing and stealing. People think that people steal because they are lacking and poor but that is not that at all. What causes people to steal is because what has seized their mentality, heart, and conscience. No matter how poor or lacking you are, there are many poor people who live with their correct senses and conscience. We can see that people steal because they lose their senses and conscience. Today’s Biblical passage is very simple and it says not to steal but there are two types of stealing. There is theft and robbery. Stealing is theft because you are stealing from another person without them knowing. There is robbery and looting. In robbery and looting, you are doing these actions without being discreet and with full threat. Today’s message is about not stealing which means you are stealing in secret. When you steal, you are stealing from others without people knowing and doing things acting like you are not doing anything bad. This was what God was telling the Israelites and God was not giving this message out of legalism but God was telling the Israelites to heal their shortcomings and weakness. It may seem like you are not doing anything wrong but discreetly, you are stealing from others. There are two types of stealing, one where you are stealing from people and the other where you are stealing from God. 

1. The Definition of Stealing

(1) Stealing things that belong to others

Exodus 20:15, 22:1, 21:16 “If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and slaughters it or sells it, he shall restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep. 21:16 “He who kidnaps a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, shall surely be put to death. 29:24 and you shall put all these in the hands of Aaron and in the hands of his sons, and you shall wave them as a wave offering before the Lord. 20:14 You shall not commit adultery.” - Legalistic people may say that this is too extreme because if they steal one ox or sheep, they have to repay back five more oxen and four sheep. God is not being extreme but He is actually giving us a message of love. This is a message of love from God because if you steal then God is giving you a chance not to repeat that same mistake. Through this message, God is reminding us what is wrongly imprinted in us and changing our mentality. This is such a message of love. So next time, when you think about even stealing, you remember this message that if you steal one ox, you are expected to repay with five more oxen. 

Exodus 21:16 - There were people who kidnap people and when you kidnap people, then God said that person will be put to death. This is because you are breaking apart a family. God sees how important a family is. This shows how God is showing how important a family is and you should not break apart a family. 

Proverbs 29:24 “Whoever is a partner with a thief hates his own life; He swears to tell the truth, but reveals nothing.”- There are people who plan and conspire to steal together. When you do that then you are giving up on your soul. God is telling people to remember your soul and remember that you have a soul to preserve. 

Proverbs 20:14 “ ‘It is good for nothing,’ cries the buyer; But when he has gone his way, then he boasts.” - There are people who bargain and are able to get a product at a good price but God is telling you to live in good conscience.

(2) Stealing things that belong to God

Leviticus 5:16 “And he shall make restitution for the harm that he has done in regard to the holy thing, and shall add one-fifth to it and give it to the priest. So the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him.” - When you steal from the church then God demands a ram to be sacrificed as a consequence. God is commanding that you keep the purity of your faith. 

Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.” - This Bible verse is saying that we should have the correct view of material possessions. The tithe that you give to God, you are acknowledging that God is in complete control over your life. Your tithe is your confession to God that God is your master over your life and is in complete control. You are looking up to God as the master of your life and confessing your faith when you are giving tithe. 

Jeremiah 23:30 “ ‘Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,’ says the Lord, ‘who steal My words every one from his neighbor.’ ” - There are people who use the word of God for their own advantage but God is telling you that you need to know the word of God in good conscience. You need to hold onto that God’s word was given to us for atonement. That means that we need Jesus Christ as the center of our lives and the name of Jesus Christ needs to be proclaimed within the word of God. This is the whole point of worship and the word of God. God who is alive, He is giving us His word and answers. We need to hold onto those answers. 

Matthew 24:24 “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” - This is the strategy of the antichrist. Many people get deceived by miracles and God is warning us not to be deceived by miracles by false prophets. God is telling us to confirm the fulfillment of answers through His word alone which is the true miracle. 

2. The Causes of Stealing

(1) Satan’s strategy

John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” - Satan is the one who steals and he steals the souls of mankind. 

We can see when Satan approached Eve in Genesis 3:3, 5 “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ‘ 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” - Satan was testing Eve if she knew of God’s word and was questioning God’s word in front of Eve. Satan was also interpreting the word of God in his own way and was deceiving Eve with his interpretation. The moment we lose hold of God’s word, Satan will steal from you. Satan will deceive and steal from you. 

The way Satan steals from you is seen in Genesis 3:5 - When Satan saw Eve who was losing hold of God’s covenant, Satan deceived and tempted Eve that her eyes will be opened to see good and evil. To be able to open her eyes means that Eve’s eyes to sin will be opened. Eve thought that if her eyes opened then she would see something beautiful. 

John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” - We can see the essence of Satan and his core nature is made of lust and greed. We can see that people of this world are full of lust and greed because we are all born as children of Satan. No one is taught this when they are born but by nature, we are born with greed and lust. This is because we are born bound by Satan. 

Even Satan tried to steal from Jesus in Luke 4:5-6 “Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.” - Satan was showing the world that he was ruling over and all of the materialist things that he was enjoying. Satan was showing the world that was full of idolatry and complete destruction to Jesus, and Satan said that this world was delivered to him. This means that this world was delivered to Satan means that this happened after Adam and Eve were deceived by Satan. At that moment, Jesus responded to Satan and commanded Satan to flee from Him. We know that Jesus Christ gave up His life for us and Jesus chose to give glory to God instead of having a painless death. This is why Jesus Christ chose atonement for us. What should you choose? You should choose the word of God. 

(2) The reason the Eighth Commandment was given

Why did God give us the word not to steal? 

Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” - God has given His children everything. God tells us not to think that we are lacking anything because God has given us everything as children of God. 

Colossians 2:3 “In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” - God is telling us the source of all blessings and treasures. In Christ, there is everything. Within Christ, there are all blessings and treasures. The people of this world only chase after what they see and can see but if we obtain the wisdom from God then we have everything. 

Philippians 4:13, 19 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” - This means that the power of God and the power of creation is ours and belongs to us. If we have the power of creation, we don’t need anything else. If we possess the power of creation, then what else do we need? Just have faith. 

Philippians 4:19 - God knows everything about us and what we need. If we just have faith and pray then God will give us His answers. God promised that He will fill our lackings and give us absolute answers. Live boldly in Jesus Christ. May you receive answers. You lack nothing. 

3. The Bartizan That Saves the World

(1) Only

Acts 1:7 “And He said to them, ‘It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.’ ” - Hold onto only. There may be situations that can make us afraid but God is telling us not to be afraid or worry about anything. Everything is within God’s authority and there is nothing for you to worry about. God is telling us to hold onto God’s covenant because He is always with us. 

(2) Uniqueness

Acts 1:4 “And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, ‘which,’ He said, “you have heard from Me.’ ” - Lay all of your worries down before God and wait for God’s promise. Hold onto God’s word and enter into prayer. Enter into 24 hours prayer. Hold onto God’s covenant and throw all of your worries away, and enter into prayer. 

(3) Re-creation

Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” - God will raise us up as witnesses to save the world. Hold onto this covenant. Hold onto God’s promise and it will be fulfilled exactly as God proclaimed it. 

Conclusion

Acts 4:32 “Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.” - The reason why the Early church members received blessings was because they knew that everything was within the control of God. Everything is within the power of God. We are just borrowing what God has given to us in this world and God is in complete control. We should just look up to God who is in complete control and do what our Creator wants us to do. Are you doing what God wants you to do? Are you living for God’s glory? Hold onto God’s covenant.
