The Conclusion of Acts (Acts 28:30-31)

Scripture: “ Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, 31 preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him. ”

<Introduction>

There was a message that I received from a pastor and it was about a pastor named Charles Spurgeon. He was a pastor who ministered in England and many people would come to England to listen to his famous messages. There was another pastor, pastor Joseph Parker who ministered in America and he had about 2,000 members at his church. When people listened to his messages, a lot of American people and pastors would receive a lot of grace. They would say that this pastor was a pastor that gave great messages and sermons. Pastor Joseph Parker and many other people went to Pastor Spurgeon’s church, Tabernacle church to listen to his sermon. All people who came to listen to his messages all said in one voice, “Jesus is the one and only Savior.” Pastor Parker who heard this and felt much comfort after he heard this message. But after he heard pastor Spurgeon’s message, pastor Parker realized and confessed that Jesus is really our one and only Savior. What does this mean? A sermon is not about how you deliver a good-feel message of just emotions and a good “message” but it has to be that when you listen to a sermon, you should be able to feel that Jesus is really alive. You need to feel this. When you have faith that God is alive, then that is a true successful worship. When you gain that faith, then life, power, and healing will come to you. We as a church and denomination who have the gospel, we need to have this direction. We need to always focus on how God is working. 

1. God's plan

1) God's guidance

When we look at today’s scripture today, we need to discover God’s plan. Paul was a prisoner from A.D. 61 to 63 but he was staying in a rented house instead of a prison. What does this mean? He was allowed to share the gospel to his greatest heart’s content. This was not a man’s ability but this was God who allowed this. This is the grace that God gives to those who are saved. Whoever came to Paul, they were all saved and received the gospel, which means that many people were able to visit him at his rented house to listen to the gospel. 

Acts 28:28 (Therefore let it be known to you that the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it!’) - Among the visitors, many Gentiles came to visit Paul and numerous people came to listen to the message and pray together. This new rented house was not a prison but it was a church that God raised up. This was a place where God allowed absolute disciples to be raised up. Why did the Word movement arise? This was because God had a plan to share the gospel in the land of Rome. 

2) God's grace

Verse 31 - This means that he was preaching through the filling of the Holy Spirit. He was preaching without any forbiddance from anyone, which means that no one was preventing him from preaching the gospel. It was already fulfilled as it written in Acts 23:11 (“But the following night the Lord stood by him and said, 'Be of good cheer, Paul; for as you have testified for Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.”) - That is why when Paul was sharing the gospel within this rented house, we could see God’s great grace within this. What kind of great works took place? Within the eleven synagogues in Rome, half of the priests listened to Paul’s message and returned to the Lord. This is God’s great grace. Not only did this cause flourishing within synagogues but great works took place within the land of Rome. What is an absolute truth was that within the eleven synagogues of Rome, four to five of them turned into churches. The synagogues where only Jews gathered, they were turned into a church where all people of God came to listen to the gospel. Within the time span of Paul being in Rome for two years, we can see great works took place for Paul. We are now finally at the conclusion of the book of Acts. What is the conclusion and core content of the book of Acts?    

2. The Book of Acts is the Acts of the Holy Spirit

1) The core content

The core content of the book of Acts is written in Matthew 16:16 (“Simon Peter answered and said, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”) - The main content of the ministry of Jesus Christ. It was to focus that He was God and the Christ. 

What must we hold onto from the book of Acts? What should that be? It must be Acts 1:8 (“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. ”) - The book of Acts was to record the results of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Also, within the book of Acts, it records works of evangelism. The book of Acts talks mainly about evangelism but the core message of Acts is to show that it is not man who did all of this but it was God who did it.    

2) The ministry of the Holy Spirit

We can see the work of the filling of the Holy Spirit upon Mark’s Upper Room in Acts 2:1-4 (“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”) and Acts 2:9-11 (“Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”) - People from 52 nations came to gather at Mark’s Upper Room. No one forced them to come here but they all gathered there without being told. They were not forced to come but they all came to gather there. This was God who allowed this. The moment they came, the Holy Spirit was at work and allowed all people who gathered from 52 nations to be saved. This was God who was doing this. 

Acts 3:6 (“Then Peter said, 'Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”) - Peter raised the crippled man. How did this happen? It was through the name of Jesus Christ. Peter did nothing else but only proclaimed the name of Jesus Christ. The moment he proclaimed this, the Holy Spirit was at work. 

Acts 6:3 (“Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them.”) - Deacons were being raised up and were scattered out to different fields. During this time, the gospel was proclaimed to Samaria as well to Africa through this Ethiopian eunuch. As we know Deacon Philip was sent out to the field and met the Ethiopian Eunuch. He didn’t plan on meeting this eunuch but the Holy Spirit allowed this meeting. Also, the Antioch church was established as seen in Acts 11. 

Acts 9:6 (“So he, trembling and astonished, said, ‘Lord, what do You want me to do?’ Then the Lord said to him, ‘Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.’ ”) -This shows when Paul was called by God as His disciple. Verse 31 - There is an important meaning in this where he was able to share the gospel boldly and with confidence. Why was it important for him to share the gospel in confidence? During this time, Emperor Nero was in power. He became emperor at a young age from the age of 14 and reigned from A.D. 37-68. During this time, he developed a lot of spiritual problems. He couldn’t solve them and they kept getting worse and worse. It became so severe that he murdered his half brother as well as his own mother. Also, he ended up murdering his own wife. He developed spiritual problems that he could not handle and control. The nation was in a turmoil at this time as well. But there is something that Paul wrote while he was in prison. Paul wrote down this situation regarding the nation of Rome. He wrote that he was in the midst of death and life. He said that he would be more happy to leave and be with God in heaven but he said that it would be better for him to stay and share the gospel. During this crisis, Paul boldly shared the gospel with all confidence. Why did he have no other choice but to share the gospel with confidence? This was because Paul knew and had the answer to the fundamental problems for the Roman people and Caesar. That is why he continued to proclaim only Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God.    

3. Paul's Ministry

1) Jesus is the Christ

He testified of only Christ alone. John 12:31-32 (“Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”) - This is talking about the work that Jesus Christ did while He was on Earth. He said, “Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.” In other words, through the cross, Jesus completely broke down the works of Satan. That is what Paul was testifying to the people. He said that Jesus Christ had to die to break down the powers of Satan. 

John 14:6 (“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ ”) - The way to solve problems and to come out of curses is through only Jesus Christ alone. Paul had to testify of this alone because he knew this was the only way for answers. 

John 8:24 (“Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”) - This is talking about those who are within this world and living in the midst of sin. We have no choice but to die because of our sins and we cannot escape the fate of our sins. We need to come out of these sins but there is no way. But Jesus said, if you do not believe that He is the One who died for your sins, then He cannot die for your sins. That is why Jesus said if you believe that He died for your sins then you will be freed from your sins. The moment you accept Christ, then all of your sins will be forgiven. That is why Jesus Christ had to die on the cross and through this, He completely freed us from our sins and problems. There is no other way. There is no other way to come out from our suffering and problems. If you just realize this, then you will be freed.  

2) God's kingdom

Acts 26:18 (“To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”) - Paul was sharing the ministry of what Jesus Christ did. In other words, the moment people realize that Jesus Christ died on the cross, then their eyes will be opened, will be turned from darkness to light, and the kingdom of God will be established. Paul also wrote the book of Ephesians while he was in prison. He wrote a letter to the church of Ephesus. He knew that the church of Ephesus was in the same state of Rome so he wrote this letter to them. 

This letter was Ephesians 2:1-3 (“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. ”) - This is the blessing that they possessed. The moment you accept Christ, then the kingdom of God will come upon your life and you will be made alive. That is why Paul said to have confidence. The moment you accept Christ, all of your curses are finished. 

Ephesians 2:3 - This shows the state before you accepted Christ. Before we accepted Christ, the kind of life we were living were living according to this course of this world and as sons of disobedience. We were living a life of disobedience. The moment you accept Christ, then you are freed from all of this. We are already a child of God and we are able to come out from living the life of a nonbeliever. The moment you become a child of God, you no longer have to live as a child of Satan. This is because it is finished. We have nothing to do with Satan anymore.

Ephesians 2:3 - We used to live our lives that did not focus on God but only on ourselves so that is why we had to live as a child of wrath. But now we are children of God. We are blessed children of God. The kingdom of God is enjoying this. We are completely freed from our sins and curses. We are freed from the power of Satan and darkness. We are children of God who have the love of God. Enjoying this is the kingdom of God. This was what Paul continued to preach and share. The only way for the people to live, Paul knew that they needed only Christ alone. This is because Christ broke down Satan and defeated the world. If Chris comes inside of you then that is all that you need and it is finished. May all of your lacking and weaknesses be healed.         

3) Paul's last journey

Nero's persecution (A.D. 64-68)

What happened to Paul? He stayed in Rome from A.D. 61-63. Many great churches were being raised during this time. How was this possible? A.D. 64, there was a great fire that arose in Rome and ten regions in Rome were completely burnt down. People were wondering who caused this fire and there was a rumor that Emperor Nero started this fire. But, Nero placed the blame on the Christians. What was the reason? Out of the fourteen regions in Rome, ten were burnt down but the four remaining regions were where most of the Christians lived. So that is why he commanded for all Christians to be persecuted and put to death. During this time from A.D. 65-68, many christians were captured and put to death. Many Christians were killed by being hanged on the cross as well as being burned to death on the cross. This shows how evil Nero was. 

Many Christians started running away and escaping. But also many committed disciples died for Christ and their faith. How did they maintain their faith? This was because Paul allowed this great faith to be planted within the hearts. They did not fear death. As you know Peter was martyred as well in A.D. 66. When he was about to die, he escaped out of Rome but the Lord came to him in a dream. In his dream, Peter asked Jesus, “Quo vadis, Domine”, which means “Lord, where are you going?” Lord Jesus told Peter, “I am going back to Rome to die on the cross.” When Peter heard this, he returned back to Rome and ended up being martyred on the cross while being hung upside down. 

Paul was imprisoned, got out of prison, and returned to Rome but he was captured again. I am sure during this time, he might have met Nero. I am sure Paul shared the gospel to him and then he was martyred. He was martyred with a happy heart. This was because Nero persecuted Christians in Rome but this caused many absolute disciples to stand firmly in the gospel. But what was strange was that many christians were persecuted and killed but many more Christians stood up in faith and were being raised up. This was because they knew the true life. I heard a testimony from a pastor. Who will receive the greatest prize in heaven? It will be those who have been martyred for their faith. The second greatest reward will be given to evangelists. Within the span of the last two weeks, two pastors passed away that I knew. One of the pastors that I knew, he was very precious but he passed away. Another pastor in Hawaii, he also passed away. There were very precious pastors but when I heard that they passed away, I was very shocked. But I know that there will be great rewards in heaven for them. They were great workers. They did a lot of work for God. I am sure that they are standing before God and God will be happy with them, and they will be treated with a very warm greeting from their fellow brothers and sisters in heaven. We will all meet God one day. We need to prepare this with great happiness and meet God.    

<Conclusion>

Before Paul was martyred and died, he wrote the books of 1 and 2 Timothy. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”) - Paul was able to say with great confidence that he fought the good fight, kept his faith, and finished the race. What is absolute was that he was a great and honorable apostle. I pray that we also have this kind of faith where we can make the same confession during the conclusion of our lives. I pray that we can also receive the crown of righteousness.

사도행전의 결론 (행28:30-31)

서론

제가 목사님으로부터 메세지를 하나 받았다. 스펄전 목사님에 대한 이야기였다. 스펄전 목사님이 백년전 영국에서 목회를 할 때에 이야기다. 미국에 계신 몇몇의 목사님들이 영국에서 당시 유명했던 목사님의 설교를 듣기 위해 영국을 방문했다. 영국에 간 그 분들은 주일날 먼저 조셉 파크 목사님이 시무하시는 시티 템플 교회를 방문했다. 당시 그 교회는 2천명이 넘는 교인을 갖고있었다. 미국에서 온 목사님들이 그 목사님의 설교를 듣고 굉장히 많은 은혜를 받았다. 그래서 조셉 파크 목사님은 위대한 설교자라고 했다. 그리고 그 저녁에는 찰스 스펄전 목사님이 계시는 테버내클 교회에 갔다. 스펄전 목사님의 설교를 들은 이 사람들은 모두 한 목소리로 이런 말씀을 했다. “예수님은 위대한 구세주이십니다.” 조셉 파크 목사님의 설교를 들은 후에는 그는 위대한 설교가라고 했다. 그런데 스펄전 목사님의 설교를 듣고 난 후에는 예수님은 위대한 구세주로 고백했다고 한다. 이 얘기는 고급 설교가 중요한 것이 아니라는 것이다. 예배를 통해서 말씀을 듣고 예수님이 정말 살아계시구나 하는 것을 느끼는 것이 중요하다는 것이다. 예수님께서 정말 살아계시구나 하는 믿음이 생길 때 이것이 정말로 성공한 예배라는 것이다. 그 믿음이 생기는 순간에 생명과 능력의 역사가 나타나고 치유가 일어난다. 지금 이것은 우리 복음가진 교회, 우리 교단에서 하고 있는 방향인 줄로 알고있다. 하나님께서 어떻게 역사하시는가에 항상 포커스를 두고있다. 오늘 본문 가운데서도 하나님의 계획을 발견할 수 있다.

1. 하나님의 계획

1) 하나님의 인도

바울이 감옥생활을 61년서부터 63년까지 했는데 30절에 보게되면 자기 셋집에 머물게 했다고 나온다.

행28:30 바울이 온 이태를 자기 셋집에 머물면서 자기에게 오는 사람을 다 영접하고

감옥이 아니라 세를 얻은 집에서 감옥 생활을 했다는 얘기이다. 복음을 마음껏 증거할 수 있는 장소를 허락받았다는 말이다. 인간이 한 것이 아니라 하나님께서 모든 환경과 여건을 열어주셨다는 것이다. 복음가진 자에게 주신 하나님의 은혜가 임한 줄로 믿는다. 그래서 말씀을 보게되면 자기에게 오는 모든 사람들을 다 영접했다. 셋집으로 많은 사람들이 찾아와서 사도바울을 만났다는 말이다.

행 28:28 그런즉 하나님의 이 구원이 이방인에게로 보내어진 줄 알라 그들은 그것을

들으리라 하더라

이방인들이 주를 이뤘다. 셋집에 모여서 수많은 사람들이 찾아와서 말씀하고 기도하는 이런 역사를 이뤘다는 것이다. 이 셋집은 그냥 감옥소가 아니라 하나님이 세우신 교회인 것을 볼 수 있다. 특별히 또 하나님의 제자를 세우는 전도 신학원이었다. 왜 이렇게 말씀 운동이 일어났는가. 하나님께서는 앞으로 로마에서 일어날 다른 계획이 있으셨기 때문이다.

2) 하나님의 은혜

행28:31 하나님의 나라를 전파하며 주 예수 그리스도에 관한 모든 것을 담대하게

거침없이 가르치더라

담대하게 가르쳤다는 것은 성령 충만한 가운데서 말씀을 증거했다는 말이다. 거침없이 가르쳤다는 것은 유대인이나 로마인들 누구도 막을 수가 없었다는 것이다. 이것은 이미 행 23:11에서 로마에서 나를 증거해야하리라는 말이 성취되고 있는 것이다.

행23:11 그 날 밤에 주께서 바울 곁에 서서 이르시되 담대하라 네가 예루살렘에서 나의 일을 증언한 것 같이 로마에서도 증언하여야 하리라 하시니라

로마에서 감옥과 같은 셋집에서 복음을 전하는데 하나님의 어마어마한 은혜가 임했다. 여기서 어느 정도 역사가 나타나느냐. 당시 기록은 보게되면 로마에 11개 지역에 11개 유대인 회당이 있었다. 그 회당에서 랍비들과 회당 지도자 중 절반이나 되는 사람들이 사도바울의 복음을 듣고 예수님께로 돌아온다. 회당을 부흥시켰을 뿐 아니라 회당이 다른 회당을 전도하는 역사까지 일어났다고 한다. 놀라운 사실은 아볼로의 기록을 보게되면 로마에 11개 회당 가운데서 4-5개 회당이 아얘 교회로 바뀌어 버렸다고 한다. 옛날에 유대인들이 모였던 회당에 수많은 로마 사람들이 가서 예배드렸다는 말이다. 사도바울이 2년 동안 있을 때 어마어마한 성령의 역사를 부어주신 것이다.

2. 사도행전은 성령행전

1) 핵심 내용

우리가 지금 사도행전을 3년 동안 해서 오늘 마지막 시간을 맞이하고 있다. 우리가 핵심 내용을 붙잡아야겠다. 사복음서의 핵심은 마 16:16이다. 예수님이 3년 동안 사역하신 것이 내가 바로 하나님의 아들이고 그리스도라 하는 것을 증명해보이신 것이 복음서에 나타나고 있다. 그러면 사도행전의 핵심을 한 절을 두라면 무엇이겠는가. 그것은 사도행전 1장 8절로 잡을 수 있다.

행 1:8 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라

그러니까 이 사도행전은 성령의 사역을 기록한 것이다. 예수님께서 부활 승천하시고 난 다음에 성령께서 이 땅에 오셨다. 오셔서 예수님께서 1장 8절에 하신 말씀을 성취하시는 것이 사도행전이다. 이 사도행전에서 전도하는 모든 모습을 기록하고 있다. 그런데 사도행전에 나타나는 전도의 특징은 바로 사람이 하는 것이 아니라 하나님께서 손수 직접 하고 계시다는 것이다.

2) 성령님의 사역

행2:1-4에 오순절 마가다락방 성령 충만한 역사가 임했다. 첫번째 사역은 행2:9-11에 15개국 사람들이 마가다락방에 찾아온다. 120성도 중에 어느 누구도 그들을 오라고 전도하지 않았다. 그들이 찾아왔다. 하나님께서 오게하신 것이다. 오자마자 성령 충만을 받은 성도들이 각 나라 방언으로 복음을 전했다. 그 모든 것은 하나님께서 직접 하신 것이다. 행 3장에는 베드로가 앉으뱅이를 일으킨 사건이 나온다. 이것은 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 일어나는 것이다. 사도 베드로는 아무것도 한게 없다. 예수 그리스도 이름만 선포했을 뿐이다. 그 순간에 성령께서 역사하셔서 일어나게 하셨다. 행 6장을 보게되면 일곱집사를 세운다. 이때서부터는 세계복음화를 평신도 집사님, 중직자를 사용해서 이루어나가시는 것을 나타낸다. 빌립 집사를 보게되면 사마리아를 복음화하고 에디오피아 내시를 통해 아프리카 선교를 하신다. 내시를 전도한 것을 보게되면 빌립 집사가 전혀 마음이 있어서 한게 아니었다. 성령 인도받아서 그냥 했을 뿐이다. 뿐만 아니라 11장 보게되면 안디옥 교회가 세워진다. 그리고 9장에는 하나님께서 미리 준비하신 사도바울을 부르신다. 오늘 보게되면 사도바울이 로마에 와서 담대하게 거침없이 가르치더라 하고 말씀하고 있다. 여기서 담대하게 사도바울이 거침없이 가르쳤다는 것은 중요한 의미를 갖고있다. 왜 담대하게 복음을 증거해야하는가. 당시 황제가 바로 네로였다. 네로는 54년서부터 68년까지 14년 동안 황제 직위에 있었다. 그는 열일곱살에 황제가 됬다. 그런데 그는 어릴 때 부터 심각한 영적문제를 갖고있었다. 그런데 그 문제를 해결하지 못하고 갈수록 심해졌다. 54년도에 황제가 되고 55년도에 자기 이복동생을 죽인다. 59년도에는 자기 어머니까지 죽였다. 62년에는 아내까지 죽인다. 갈 수록 자기도 감당할 수 없는 영적인 심각한 문제에 빠져가는 것을 볼 수 있다. 그 나라가 굉장히 어려운 상황이었다. 사도바울이 로마서 감옥에서 빌립보서를 쓴 것이 있다. 그 때 상황을 사도바울이 이야기한다. 1장 23절 말씀에 보면 내가 삶과 죽음의 갈림길에 있다고 했다. 빨리 죽고 그리스도께 가는 것도 기쁘지만 같이 있는 것도 좋다 하는 말이 나타난다. 그런 위기 가운데서 사도바울은 담대하게 거침없이 가르쳤다. 왜 담대하게 거침없이 가르칠 수 밖에 없는가. 근본적으로 네로 뿐 아니라 많은 로마 시민들, 불신자들이 갖고 있는 문제에 답이 있었기 때문이다. 사도바울이 증거한 내용을 보게되면 예수는 그리스도라는 내용과 하나님에 대해서 끊이 없이 증거했다.

3. 바울의 사역

1)예수는 그리스도

요12:31-32 이제 이 세상에 대한 심판이 이르렀으니 이 세상의 임금이 쫓겨나리라 32

내가 땅에서 들리면 모든 사람을 내게로 이끌겠노라 하시니

지금 예수님께서 이 땅에 오셔서 행하신 일을 나타내는 것이다. 세상 임금이 있는데 그가 들리면 쫓겨난다는 것이다. 다시 말씀드리면 십자가를 통해서 사단의 세력을 완전히 깨뜨린다는 것이다. 이들에게 지금 복음을 증거하는 것이다. 예수님께서 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가신 것은 너희들을 괴롭히는 사단의 세력을 꺾기 위해서 돌아가셨다는 것이다.

요14:6 예수께서 이르시되 내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는

아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라

너희들이 문제를 해결할 수 있는 방법, 저주에서 빠져나올 수 있는 방법은 예수 그리스도밖에 없다는 것이다. 그것을 선포할 수 밖에 없었다. 다른 방법은 없으니까.

요8:24 그러므로 내가 너희에게 말하기를 너희가 너희 죄 가운데서 죽으리라 하였노라 너희가 만일 내가 그인 줄 믿지 아니하면 너희 죄 가운데서 죽으리라

너희라는 것은 세상에 속한 자를 이야기 한다. 너희는 죄 가운데 죽을 수 밖에 없다는 것이다. 너희들이 당한 저주와 재앙을 피할 길이 없다는 것이다. 그 죄 문제를 해결할 수 없다는 것이다. 그런데 너희가 만일 내가 그인줄 믿지 아니하면 죄 가운데서 죽으리라. 예수님께서 말씀하셨다. 나를 믿기만 하면 죄 가운데서 해방 받을 것이라고 한다. 예수 그리스도를 내 구주로 영접하는 순간에 문제를 당하는 모든 원인을 해결받을 것이라는 말이다. 그리스도 만이 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가셔서 완전히 해결하셨다는 것이다. 어떤 환란과 핍박과 문제도 해결할 길이 없다는 것이다. 너희들이 이 사실을 깨닫기만 해도 문제를 해결받을 것이라고 한다.

2) 하나님 나라

행26:18 그 눈을 뜨게 하여 어두움에서 빛으로, 사단의 권세에서 하나님께로 돌아가게 하고 죄 사함과 나를 믿어 거룩케 된 무리 가운데서 기업을 얻게 하리라 하더이다

사도바울이 예수님을 만났을 때 사도바울이 이 땅에서 행할 일을 말씀하신 것이다. 예수께서 그리스도의 사역을 십자가 상에서 행하셨다는 것을 가르칠 때 그들이 눈을 뜨게 되면 그들에게 하나님 나라가 임한다는 것이다. 이 로마 감옥에 있을 동안에 또 기록한 것이 에베소서이다. 에베소 교회에 있는 성도들에게 쓴 편지이다. 지금 이 로마 상황과 너무나 같아서 그들에게도 같은 상황에 대해 말씀하신게 에베소서에 나타난다. 바로 엡 2:1이다. 하나님 나라가 임한 너희에게는 어떤 축복이 있느냐.

엡2:1 그는 허물과 죄로 죽었던 너희를 살리셨도다

예수 그리스도를 영접함으로서 하나님 나라가 임하는 순간에 죄의 허물로부터 완전히 살아났다는 것이다. 확신을 가지는 것이다. 영접하는 순간에 모든 것이 끝났다는 것이다.

엡 2:2 그 때에 너희는 그 가운데서 행하여 이 세상 풍조를 따르고 공중의 권세 잡은 자를 따랐으니 곧 지금 불순종의 아들들 가운데서 역사하는 영이라

그 때라는 것은 예수 그리스도를 영접하기 이 전의 상태를 말한다. 예수 그리스도를 영접하기 이전에 모든 사람들이 어떤 삶을 살고 있는가. 공중에 권세 잡은 자를 따라다니고 있다. 바로 그 공중 권세 잡은 자가 불순종의 아들들 가운데서 역사하는 영이다. 다시 말씀드리면 불신자 가운데서 역사하는 불신자를 사로잡고 있는 영이라는 것이다. 예수 그리스도를 영접하게 되면 거기서 완전히 해방 받았다는 것이다. 이미 지금 하나님의 자녀가 되었기 때문에 해방받았다는 것이다. 예수 그리스도를 영접하는 순간에 완전히 불신자하고는 틀린 상태가 되는 것이다. 하나님의 자녀가 되었으면 더이상 사단에게 속을 이유가 없다. 끝난 것이다. 사단하고 나하고는 상관이 없다는 것이다.

엡 2:3 전에는 우리도 다 그 가운데서 우리 육체의 욕심을 따라 지내며 육체와 마음의 원하는 것을 하여 다른 이들과 같이 본질상 진노의 자녀이었더니

옛날에는 하나님 중심이 아니었다. 내 욕심 중심이었다. 그래서 하나님 보시기에는 본질상 진노의 자녀였다. 전에는 그랬지만 지금은 하나님의 자녀가 되었다. 축복의 자녀가 되었다. 하나님의 나라는 이것을 누리는 것이다. 나는 죄와 저주에서 해방받았다는 것이다. 사단의 흑암의 권세에서 완전히 벗어났다는 것이다. 나는 사랑받는 하나님의 자녀라는 것이다. 이것을 누리는 것이 하나님 나라이다. 사도바울은 이것을 끊임없이 증거했다. 네로 황제처럼 고통받고 정신적인 질환을 갖고 있는 사람들이 살 수 있는 길은 그리스도밖에 없다는 것이다. 그리스도가 사단을 이기셨기 때문에. 그 분이 내 안에 들어오시기만 하면 모든 것이 끝난다. 이 연약한 모든 것이 완전 치유받을 줄로 믿는다. 사도행전을 마치면서 바울의 마지막 여정을 봐야겠다.

3) 바울의 마지막 여정

사도바울이 61년부터 63년까지 로마에 있었다. 여기서 많은 확실한 기독교인을 세웠다. 그것을 어떻게 알 수 있는가. 그 다음해인 64년도에는 로마에서 대 화재가 일어난다. 로마의 기름창고가 터져 불이 나서 번지기 시작하는데 14개 지역 중 10개 지역이 타버렸다. 그래서 불을 누가 질렀느냐 해서 네로 황제가 질렀다는 소문이 나기 시작했다. 그 때 네로 황제는 기독교인들이 그랬다고 책임을 돌렸다. 그 이유가 뭐냐하면 14개 지역 중에서 10개 지역이 타버리고 4개 지역이 남았는데 그 4개 지역이 유대인들이 기독교인들이 사는 지역이었다. 그래서 기독교인들을 다 잡아죽이라고 했다. 그래서 65년부터 68년까지 수많은 기독교인들이 붙잡혀서 순교를 당한다. 사나운 개에 물려 죽게 했다. 또 사자에 의해서 물려죽게 했다. 어떤 사람은 십자가에 못박아서 죽이기도 했다. 십자가에 매달아서 불을 태워서 황제의 궁을 밤새 밝혔다고 한다. 네로 황제가 말할 수 없는 악한 짓을 행했다. 수 많은 사람들이 도망가고 피했다. 그런데 많은 사람들은 예수님을 부인하지 않겠다고 하며 십자가에서 죽었다. 그런 믿음을 심어준 사람이 바로 사도들, 특히 사도바울이 2년 동안 믿음을 심어준 결과인 것이다. 이들은 죽음을 두려워하지 않았다. 여러분 잘 아시는 베드로는 66년도에 순교했다. 잡으려는데 피해서 로마를 빠져서 나가고 있었다. 그 때 주님이 환상 가운데 나타나신다. 사도베드로가 꼬바디스 도미네 하고 이야기했다. 꼬바디스 도미네라는 것은 주여 어디로 가시나이까 하는 말이다. 그 때 주님께서 말씀하셨다. 내가 십자가에 못박히러 다시 로마로 들어가고 있다. 그 때 사도베드로가 크게 깨닫고 다시 로마로 돌아가서 십자가에 꺼꾸로 못박혀 돌아가셨다. 사도바울은 66년 경에 체포를 당했다. 풀려난지 얼마 안되서 다시 로마에서 체포가 되었다. 아마 이 때 로마 황제 네로를 만나지 않았나 싶다. 복음을 전했다고 생각된다. 그리고 순교를 당했다. 기쁨으로 순교를 당했다. 이 모든 것이 바로 로마 네로가 기독교인을 핍박할 정도로 로마에 확실한 제자들이 많이 섰다는 것이다. 그런데 이상한 것은 수많은 사람들을 순교 시켰는데 그 숫자 보다도 더 많은 기독교인들이 일어났다. 왜냐하면 그들은 참 생명을 알고있었기 때문이다. 어떤 목사님이 간증하는 것을 들었다. 천국에서 최고 상급은 순교자가 받는다고 했다. 두번째 상급을 받을 자는 전도자다 했다. 저는 지난주와 이번주에 교단에 있는 목사님 두 분이 연속으로 돌아가셨다. 지난 주에는 위정희 목사님이 돌아가셨다. 지난 주는 하와이에 계신 배종도 목사님이 돌아가셨다. 너무나 귀한 목사님인데 돌아가셨다는 얘기를 듣고 굉장히 충격을 받았다. 그런데 저는 마음에 이분들은 하늘의 상급이 크겠다는 마음이 들었다. 정말로 대단한 사역자들이었다. 큰 일을 너무나 많이 했던 분들이다. 지금은 주님께서 기뻐하시면서 온 천국의 천사들과 24장로들이 환영하고 있지 않은가 한다. 우리는 누구든지 다 주님을 만나게 될 것이다. 주님께서 가장 기뻐하시는 것을 준비하고 만나야할 줄로 믿는다.

결론

사도바울이 순교 당하기 바로 이전에 쓴 성경책이 디모데전서와 디모데후서이다. 디모데후서 4장 7-8절에 보면 유언처럼 한 말이 나온다.

딤후 4:7-8 나는 선한 싸움을 싸우고 나의 달려갈 길을 마치고 믿음을 지켰으니 이제 후로는 나를 위하여 의의 면류관이 예비되었으므로 주 곧 의로우신 재판장이 그 날에 내게 주실 것이며 내게만 아니라 주의 나타나심을 사모하는 모든 자에게도니라

사도바울은 확실하게 이야기할 수 있었다. 나는 선한 싸움을 싸우고 달려갈 길을 마치고 믿음을 지켰다고 했다. 위대한 사도바울이다. 저도 여러분들도 마지막이 이런 고백을 할 수 있는 신앙이 되기를 기도한다. 사도바울이 받았던 의의 면류관을 저와 여러분들도 받기를 기도한다.
