“여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 바로에게 가서 그에게 이르기를 여호와의 말씀에 내 백성을 보내라 그들이 나를 섬길 것이니라 2 네가 만일 보내기를 거절하면 내가 개구리로 너의 온 땅을 치리라 3 개구리가 나일 강에서 무수히 생기고 올라와서 네 궁과 네 침실과 네 침상 위와 네 신하의 집과 네 백성과 네 화덕과 네 떡 반죽 그릇에 들어갈 것이며 4 개구리가 너와 네 백성과 네 모든 신하에게 기어오르리라 하셨다 하라 5 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 아론에게 명령하기를 네 지팡이를 잡고 네 팔을 강들과 운하들과 못 위에 펴서 개구리들이 애굽 땅에 올라오게 하라 할지니라 6 아론이 애굽 물들 위에 그의 손을 내밀매 개구리가 올라와서 애굽 땅에 덮이니 7 요술사들도 자기 요술대로 그와 같이 행하여 개구리가 애굽 땅에 올라오게 하였더라 8 바로가 모세와 아론을 불러 이르되 여호와께 구하여 나와 내 백성에게서 개구리를 떠나게 하라 내가 이 백성을 보내리니 그들이 여호와께 제사를 드릴 것이니라 9 모세가 바로에게 이르되 내가 왕과 왕의 신하와 왕의 백성을 위하여 이 개구리를 왕과 왕궁에서 끊어 나일 강에만 있도록 언제 간구하는 것이 좋을는지 내게 분부하소서 10   그가 이르되 내일이니라 모세가 이르되 왕의 말씀대로 하여 왕에게 우리 하나님 여호와와 같은 이가 없는 줄을 알게 하리니 11 개구리가 왕과 왕궁과 왕의 신하와 왕의 백성을 떠나서 나일 강에만 있으리이다 하고 12 모세와 아론이 바로를 떠나 나가서 바로에게 내리신 개구리에 대하여 모세가 여호와께 간구하매 13 여호와께서 모세의 말대로 하시니 개구리가 집과 마당과 밭에서부터 나와서 죽은지라 14 사람들이 모아 무더기로 쌓으니 땅에서 악취가 나더라 15 그러나 바로가 숨을 쉴 수 있게 됨을 보았을 때에 그의 마음을 완강하게 하여 그들의 말을 듣지 아니하였으니 여호와께서 말씀하신 것과 같더라”. (출8:1-15)

서론

영국에 유명한 사상가 앤서니 콜린스 라는 사람이 있었다. 이 사람이 교회를 가던길에 허름한 옷차림을 한 노동자를 만나게 되었다. 같은 교회를 가던 길이라 함께 동행하며 이야기를 나누게 되었다. 저명한 사상가로서 이 사람을 당황 시켜볼까 하는 마음에 한가지 질문을 했다, “당신의 하나님은 큰 하나님 이십니까 아니면 작은 하나님 이십니까?”. 무식하게 보이기만 했던 노동자가 대답을 했는데 완전한 대답을 했다. “하늘중의 하늘도 그분을 품을 수 없을만큼 그 분은 크신 분 입니다. 또 그 분은 내 마음속에도 계실수 있을만큼 작은 분 이십니다.” 이 대답을 들은 콜린스는 큰 충격 받았다. 왜냐하면 어떤 책에서도 읽지 못한 내용의 대답이었다. 어떻게 이러한 답을 할수 있었을까. 이 사상가이자 지식인인 콜린스는 교회는 다녀도 사실상 지식으로 복음을 알았고 가난해 보이던 노동자는 비록 많이 배우지는 못해도 마음속에 하나님을 품고 함께하심 누리며 자기 삶을 주관 하시는 사실 알고있었다. 많이 배웠느냐 못 배웠느냐가 중요한것이 아니라, 내가 하나님을 실제 삶속에 누리고 있느냐 아니냐가 중요하다. 우리가 두번째 재앙인 개구리 재앙에 대해 들을것이다. 그것이 그저 몇천년전 있었던 성경에 기록된 일로만 붙잡으면 안된다. 그때 역사하신 하나님이 지금도 역사 하심을 알아야한다. 

1. 하나님의 명령 God's command

(1) 개구리 재앙 The Plague of Frogs

출 Exodus 8:1-4

그러면 여기서 하나님께서 출애굽을 시키려 하시는 이유가 뭔가 먼저 붙잡아야겠다. 1절 말씀에 나타난다, “여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 바로에게 가서 그에게 이르기를 여호와의 말씀에 내 백성을 보내라 그들이 나를 섬길 것이니라” 출애굽을 시킨 이유는 하나님이 당신의 백성에게 예배 받으시기 위해 인것이다. 왜 하나님께서 우리를 구원 하셨는가. 우리의 예배 받으시고 영광 받으시기 위해서다. 2절, “네가 만일 보내기를 거절하면 내가 개구리로 너의 온 땅을 치리라”. 내가 예배 받기를 원하는데 그것을 네가 가로막는다면 개구리 통해 너를 심판하겠다 하시는 말씀이다. 그러면 왜 하나님은 개구리를 들고 나오셨는가. 여기서 나오는 개구리는 원어를 보면, 체파르디아 를 썼는데 두꺼비 같이 큰 개구리를 말한다. 이 개구리는 보통 나일강에 12월 경에 나타난다. 보통 개구리는 수많은 알을 낳는다. 이 개구리들을 주로 이집트 사람들은 풍년을 나타내는 길조로 여겼다. 그러면서 개구리를 풍요의 길조로 보고 신으로 섬겼다. 너희가 길조로 여기는 개구리가 너희에게 재앙으로 다가올것이다 의도하신것이다. 개구리 재앙을 내리실때 3절에 보면, “개구리가 나일 강에서 무수히 생기고 올라와서 네 궁과 네 침실과 네 침상 위와 네 신하의 집과 네 백성과 네 화덕과 네 떡 반죽 그릇에 들어갈 것이며” 라고 기록되어있다. 여기서 무수히 생긴다고 말씀 되어 있는데, 생긴다는 단어 원어를 보면 새까맣게 우글거리는 모습을 나타낸다. 무수히 생길것이라는 단어 통해 하나님은 당신의 창조의 역사 이룰것이라는 것을 나타낸다. 또 올라와서 라는 단어의 원어를 보면 몰려서 오는 모양을 연상케 한다. 개구리가 나일강에서 올라오는데 그냥 오는것이 아니라 새까맣게 떼를 지어 올라오는 모습이다. 그래서 궁과 침실과 침대, 그릇과 집안 모든곳에 개구리로 창궐 하게 되는것이다. 참 기가막힌 현상이다. 그것뿐만 아니다, 4절에 보면, “개구리가 너와 네 백성과 네 모든 신하에게 기어오르리라 하셨다 하라” 그냥 침상, 밥그릇속에 들어가 있는것만 해도 소름 끼치는데 사람 몸에도 기어오르는 모습이다. 너에게 복을 가져다 준다 여긴 개구리가 하나님의 진노로 인해 화로 변할것이다 보이신것이다. 이 원인이 바로 예배를 방해 했기 때문이다. 하나님께서는 예배를 얼마나 귀중히 여기시는가 우리가 먼저 붙잡아야겠다. 모든 재앙과 축복의 원인이 바로 예배에서 부터 시작된다는 말이다. 그렇다면 재앙의 영적인 의미를 우리가 알아야겠다. 

(2) 영적 의미 The spiritual meaning

출 Exodus 8:5-6, 1:22

갈 6:7

먼저 5절 보게되면, “여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 아론에게 명령하기를 네 지팡이를 잡고 네 팔을 강들과 운하들과 못 위에 펴서 개구리들이 애굽 땅에 올라오게 하라 할지니라”. 하나님이 모세향해 말씀 하시기를 네가 아론에게 명령해 지팡이 든 손을 들어 뻗치라 했다. 군사들에게 공격 명령 내릴때 사령관의 모습을 취하는것이다. 그 대상은 개구리인것이다. 개구리는 애굽 사람들이 해크트 라는 풍요의 여신으로 섬겼다. 크누트 라는 나일강 신의 아내로 여겼다. 그 신을 향해 지금 아론이 손을 뻗는것이다. 손을 내미는 순간 나일강에 있는 개구리들이 진격하는 모습이다. 바로왕이 있는 왕궁으로 가게 명령하는것이다. 6절 말씀에 온 애굽땅을 덮었다고 되어있다. 여기서 중요한 영적 의미를 우리가 붙잡아야겠다. 애굽사람들이 풍요, 부, 다산의 신으로 섬겼던것을 사용하여 재앙으로 바꾸신것이다. 마땅히 섬길 분은 오직 하나님 되시는데 그 외에 모든것은 재앙의 근본이 된다는 것을 가르치시는것이다. 그럼 여기서 우리가 붙잡을 것이 있다. 왜 하나님께서는 나일강을 피로 만드시고 개구리 재앙도 일으키셨는가. 출 1:22 말씀을 하나님께서 기억 하셨기 때문이다. 바로가 이스라엘 백성의 아들을 나일강에 던지라 한 말이다. 이스라엘은 아들을 빼앗긴 이런 통곡의 과거가 있었던것이다. 하나님께서는 그들의 모든 통곡과 아픔 들으시고 기억 하고 계셨다. 바로는 이러한 악한 행위를 했음에도 하나님 앞에 아무 두려움 없었다. 이제 드디어 때가 된것이다. 갈 6:7에 이야기 한다, “스스로 속이지 말라 하나님은 업신여김을 받지 아니하시나니 사람이 무엇으로 심든지 그대로 거두리라”. 중요한것은, 하나님은 내가 심은 그대로 거두신다 하는 사실이다. 바로가 이스라엘 백성 아들들을 학살한 그대로 기억하시고 행하시는것이다. 개구리 재앙 통해 바로가 있는 이 왕궁을 공격 하시는것이다. 나일강에 던져져 죽었다. 그 나일강에서 나온 개구리 통해 공격하시는것이다. 마지막 재앙 통해 애굽의 모든 장자를 거둬가신다. 우리가 심은 그대로 거둬가시는 사실을 우리가 기억해야겠다. 내가 선한 것을 심으면 선한것이 나오고 악한것 심으면 악한것을 거두는것이다. 이 사실을 알면 내가 어떠한 삶을 사는지 굉장히 중요한 것을 깨달을수 있다. 지금 내가 어떤 삶을 사는가가 나의 미래, 그리고 후대의 미래를 결정한다. 

2. 바로의 변화 The change in Pharaoh

(1) 바로의 깨달음 Pharaoh's realization

출 Exodus 8:7-14

7절, “요술사들도 자기 요술대로 그와 같이 행하여 개구리가 애굽 땅에 올라오게 하였더라”. 요술사도 같은 흉내를 낸것을 말씀한다. 분명하게 붙잡을 것은 마귀도 역사 일으킬수 있는데 그 역사는 자기 백성들까지도 더 큰 고통으로 몰아가는 역사이다. 이방신들을 섬기는 사람들의 응답이라는 것은 결국 그들을 더 망하게 한다는 사실이다. 술사가 정말 능력이 있다면 개구리들을 없애는데에 써야 할것인데, 없애지는 않고 더 만들며 증명 한것이다. 8절에 드디어 바로가 모세를 부른다, “바로가 모세와 아론을 불러 이르되 여호와께 구하여 나와 내 백성에게서 개구리를 떠나게 하라 내가 이 백성을 보내리니 그들이 여호와께 제사를 드릴 것이니라”. 바로는 결국 자기가 거느리는 술사들의 능력의 한계를 본것이다. 그러니 모세를 불러 기도좀 해달라 이야기 한것이다. 그말인즉 하나님의 권능을 인정 한 것이다. 이 문제 해결 하실 분은 오직 여호와 한 분 되신다는 사실을 깨달은것이다. 그런데 이것을 또 모세를 불러 부탁했다고 기록되어있다. 하나님의 종 통해 이것에 대한 응답 받을수 있다는 것을 바로는 사실 알았던것이다. 그러면 여기서 붙잡을 것은 하나님의 종들인 우리는 어떤 자세를 가져야 하는가 이다. 9절, “모세가 바로에게 이르되 내가 왕과 왕의 신하와 왕의 백성을 위하여 이 개구리를 왕과 왕궁에서 끊어 나일 강에만 있도록 언제 간구하는 것이 좋을는지 내게 분부하소서”. 무슨 말 인가, 모세는 지금 자기가 기도 하면 하나님께서 반드시 응답 하실것을 확신 한것이다. 언제 기도할까요? 당당히 물은것이다. 이정도의 확신을 우리도 가져야한다. 10절, “그가 이르되 내일이니라 모세가 이르되 왕의 말씀대로 하여 왕에게 우리 하나님 여호와와 같은 이가 없는 줄을 알게 하리니”. 이어서 11절, “개구리가 왕과 왕궁과 왕의 신하와 왕의 백성을 떠나서 나일 강에만 있으리이다 하고” 이처럼 모세는 확실한 답을 준다. 하나님과 교제 가운데 우리가 이러한 확신 가지고 신앙생활 해야겠다. 왜냐하면 지금 모세는 살아계신 하나님과 교제 하고 있기 때문이다. 지금 우리가 믿고 모시는 하나님이 살아계심을 믿는가. 내가 기도 하면 반드시 응답 하실것을 확신하며 기도 하시는가? 우리가 항상 기도하며 붙잡을 것은, 주님의 말씀은 한마디도 땅에 떨어지지 않고 이루어 진다는 사실이다. 12절, “모세와 아론이 바로를 떠나 나가서 바로에게 내리신 개구리에 대하여 모세가 여호와께 간구하매”. 13절 말씀에 이에 대한 응답 나타난다, “여호와께서 모세의 말대로 하시니 개구리가 집과 마당과 밭에서부터 나와서 죽은지라”. 믿음을 가지고 살아계신 하나님 앞에 기도하니 그대로 하나님께서 행하신것이다. 궁에 있던 모든 개구리가 기도하자 마자 전부 나와서 길바닥에서 죽었다 라고 기록되어있다. 기도하자 마자 개구리들이 나와 죽어버린것이다. 왜 강으로 다시 보내지 않고 죽여버리나. 바로 애굽이 섬기는 헤크드라는 신의 죽음을 상징하는것이다. “사람들이 모아 무더기로 쌓으니 땅에서 악취가 나더라” 14절 말씀이다. 얼마나 그 잔해가 많은지 무더기로 쌓인것이 썩어서 땅에서 악취가 날 정도인것이다. 완전히 소멸되는 결말이다. 첫번째 재앙에서 피로 인해 나일강에서 악취가 나고 나일강 신을 없앤것을 나타냈고 개구리신도 마찬가지로 완전한 소멸이 된것이다. 지금 보좌의 능력에 대해 이야기 하는것이다. 우리는 하나님 자녀로 보좌의 능력을 누리는것이다. 지금 모세도 보좌의 능력으로 기도 한것이다. 능력의 역사 통해 모든 흑암이 무너진것이다. 정말 우리가 살아계신 하나님 믿는 믿음과 확신으로 기도하면 모든 흑암과 저주 권세 무너지는것이다. 모세의 기도 통해 눈에 보일 정도로 증거가 나타났다. 

(2) 더러운 영 The unclean spirit

출 Exodus 8:15

롬 Romans 1:32, 계 Revelation 16;13, 눅 Luke 23:34

15절, “그러나 바로가 숨을 쉴 수 있게 됨을 보았을 때에 그의 마음을 완강하게 하여 그들의 말을 듣지 아니하였으니 여호와께서 말씀하신 것과 같더라”. 바로의 마음이 다시 완강하게 된것이다. 바로가 숨을 다시 쉴수 있게 되었을때 다시 마음이 완강해졌다. 이 말씀 잘 보아야겠다. 가짜 신자들에게 나타나는 현상이다. 건강, 사업, 재정 문제로 어려움을 겪게 되는 경우가 있다. 처음에는 그 문제 해결하려고 신앙생활 열심히 한다. 숨통이 조금 열리게 되면 다시 강팍해지고 교만한 마음으로 돌아간다. 그렇게 예배도 나오지 않고 다른것을 우선순위 삼으며 하나님과 멀어진다. 이것은 하나님을 모독하는 행위 인것이다. 롬 1:32 말씀이다, “그들이 이같은 일을 행하는 자는 사형에 해당한다고 하나님께서 정하심을 알고도 자기들만 행할 뿐 아니라 또한 그런 일을 행하는 자들을 옳다 하느니라” 나 축복 다시 받았으니 괜찮아 라고 하는 사람들인것이다. 우리가 이것을 보고 붙잡을것은 금요예배때도 말씀 받았듯이, 이런 사람들은 여호와를 망령되게 하는 자 라는 사실이다. 계 16:13에 중요한 이야기 나온다, “또 내가 보매 개구리 같은 세 더러운 영이 용의 입과 짐승의 입과 거짓 선지자의 입에서 나오니”. 이 계시록에서는 사단의 영을 ‘개구리의 영’ 이라 표현한다. 은혜가 떨어지면, ‘개구리의 영’을 받는다. 시기하고, 정죄하고, 수근거리고, 평가하고, 음해하는 그런 영이다. 개구리들은 밤새도록 잠도 자지 않고 운다. 눅 23:24 말씀 붙잡아야겠다, “이에 예수께서 이르시되 아버지 저들을 사하여 주옵소서 자기들이 하는 것을 알지 못함이니이다 하시더라” 분명한 것은 우리 주님께서 모든것을 다 자세히 알고 계신다는 사실이다. 그래서 우리가 복음을 정확히 전달하며 깨닫게 해주어야한다. 안그러면 멸망으로 가게된다. 깨닫고 회개 하는 자는 살아나게 되는것이다. 막혔던 모든 응답의 문이 회개하는 순간 열리게 되는 축복을 받는것이다. 

3. 3가지 근본치유 The three fundamental types of healing

(1) 근본 치유: 언약 The fundamental healing: the covenant

창 Genesis 3:15

우리는 세가지 근본 치유를 받아야겠다. 첫번째 근본치유는, 그리스도의 언약 통해 받는것이다. 사단의 영, 용의, 짐승의, 거짓의 아비의 능력 이길수 있는 방법은 오직 그리스도의 영 받는것이다. 창 3:15, “내가 너로 여자와 원수가 되게 하고 네 후손도 여자의 후손과 원수가 되게 하리니 여자의 후손은 네 머리를 상하게 할 것이요 너는 그의 발꿈치를 상하게 할 것이니라 하시고”. 사단의 영 이기는 것은 예수그리스도 능력뿐이다. 

(2) 재앙문화 치유: 예배 Cultural healing by the plagues

고후 2 Corinthians 10:4  

두번째로 사단 문화 어떻게 이기나. 예배 통해 모든것 이기는것이다. 고후 10:4 “우리의 싸우는 무기는 육신에 속한 것이 아니요 오직 어떤 견고한 진도 무너뜨리는 하나님의 능력이라 모든 이론을 무너뜨리며”. 예배 통해 능력 회복하는것이다. 

(3) 후대 치유: 말씀 Healing of future generations

행 Acts 19:8, 10

세번째는 후대 회복해야겠다. 이 더러운 영에 사로잡힌 후대들 회복하기 위해서는 말씀을 붙잡게 해야한다. 행 19:8, “바울이 회당에 들어가 석 달 동안 담대히 하나님 나라에 관하여 강론하며 권면하되.” 또 10절, “두 해 동안 이같이 하니 아시아에 사는 자는 유대인이나 헬라인이나 다 주의 말씀을 듣더라”. 말씀을 지속적으로 각인 시켜줄때 그가 치유 받게 될것을 믿는다. 

결론 Conclusion

고전 1 Corinthians 3:16

말씀 맺겠다. 우리가 꼭 잡을 말씀 고후 3:16, “너희는 너희가 하나님의 성전인 것과 하나님의 성령이 너희 안에 계시는 것을 알지 못하느냐”. 우리는 하나님의 성전이다. 하나님 보좌가 우리안에 계신다. 하나님의 보좌의 능력을 성령님께서 가지고 계신다. 우리가 이것을 믿고 기도하고 누릴때 모세가 실질적으로 체험한 역사가 우리에게 오늘 날 임할것을 믿는다. 하나님의 창조의 능력 역사는 그때와 지금 동일하다. 부활하셔서 살아계신 예수 그리스도 이름 붙잡을때 이러한 역사가 임할줄을 믿는다.

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 2 But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all your territory with frogs. 3 So the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into your house, into your bedroom, on your bed, into the houses of your servants, on your people, into your ovens, and into your kneading bowls. 4 And the frogs shall come up on you, on your people, and on all your servants.” ’ ” 5 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.’ ” 6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. 7 And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt. 8 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Entreat the Lord that He may take away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to the Lord.” 9 And Moses said to Pharaoh, “Accept the honor of saying when I shall intercede for you, for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, that they may remain in the river only.” 10 So he said, “Tomorrow.” And he said, “Let it be according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like the Lord our God. 11 And the frogs shall depart from you, from your houses, from your servants, and from your people. They shall remain in the river only.” 12 Then Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh. And Moses cried out to the Lord concerning the frogs which He had brought against Pharaoh. 13 So the Lord did according to the word of Moses. And the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courtyards, and out of the fields. 14 They gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank. 15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not heed them, as the Lord had said.

Introduction

In Europe, there was an English man named Anthony Collins. He met a labor worker when he went to church and since they attended church together, Collins started talking to him. Collins wanted to challenge this labor worker so he asked him a question, “Your God is He is a great God or a small God?” This labor worker who looked ignorant, gave the most perfect answer to Collins. He answered to Collins that my God is a God that cannot be contained with heavens of heavens. And my God is also a small God that He can dwell within my heart. Collins, who heard this response, was so shocked. Collins thought that this labor worker gave a response that he cannot find in any written books. How could this low level labor worker give this great answer? This knowledge cannot be obtained when you are just a mere church goer. Collins was someone who just went to church and only filled his head with knowledge. But this labor worker, even though he may be very lacking and poor, he knew of God in a different way and enjoyed God. It doesn’t matter how educated you are or not, the question is are you truly enjoying God or not? Today we will speak about the second plague, frogs in Egypt. If you look at this plague as just a historical event or a story that took place a long time then it has no meaning to you. But this God who worked back then, He is working within our lives right now. Then, what was the reason why God allowed these plagues to occur and why God allowed these disasters to occur in Egypt.

1. God's Command

(1) The Plague of Frogs

Verses 1-4 - The reason why God allowed Israel to be freed was so that the Israelites can give worship to God. Why did God give us salvation? So that He can be glorified and we can give Him worship. 

Verse 2 - God wants worship but if Egypt blocks this, then God will allow the plague of frogs to come upon Egypt. Why did God bring frogs out of all disasters? The origin of frogs here were big and almost as big as toads. As you know frogs lay many eggs and they are able to give birth to many frogs. When the Egyptians see frogs, they think that their crops are going to be abundant that year and they are going to be blessed that year. So the Egyptians saw frogs almost as gods to them. But as time passed, the frogs caused great disaster upon Egypt. 

Verse 3 - The amount of frogs that will spread throughout Egypt, it was swarms of frogs that filled the entire land. God allowed the growth and abundance of frogs to come upon the land of Egypt. These frogs didn’t just appear out of every place but they came in swarms from the Nile River. It was swarms of them that they filled completely beds, houses, ovens, and bowls of houses. They were everywhere. It was so insane the amount of frogs that appeared. 

Verse 4 - Not only did it fill houses and every space in houses but it was swarming on top of people. These frogs that were seen as gods to the Egyptians, God was showing that they will become a disaster and God’s wrath to them instead. What was the origin of this? This was because they were blocking worship to God. God sees worship as the most sacred and important thing to Him. All disasters and blessings come from whether you have success in worship or not. 

(2) The spiritual meaning

Verses 5-6 - God told Moses for Aaron with his rod to stretch out his hand. God was basically giving a command to Moses just like when a commander gives the command for attack. God was giving Moses and Aaron the signal to send out the plague of frogs. Towards the Nile River, God commands Aaron to stretch out of his hand with his rod so that frogs will come out in swarms from the river. Aaron possessed the power to bring out the plague of frogs. The entire land of Egypt was completely consumed by frogs. There is an important meaning here. The Egyptians worshiped many gods and idols, and the gods and idols that they looked up to, they ended up causing disasters in Egypt. This was the spiritual meaning that God was giving. Anything you love more than God, it will cause your destruction. We must understand something here. Why did God make the Nile River turn into blood and why did God allow frogs to come out of the Nile River in swarms? 

You must remember Exodus 1:22 “So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, ‘Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.’ ” - Pharaoh commanded for all male Israelite babies to be thrown into the Nile River. Many Israelite women could not throw their male babies into the Nile River. All those who had male babies, the Israelite women were completely in sorrow and terrified. God knew the hearts and pain that His people went through because of this evil command of Pharaoh. Pharaoh had no fear of God and gave this command with no mercy. 

Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” - What is important is that God will allow you to reap what you sow. God was allowing Pharaoh to reap exactly what he sowed. God allowed Pharaoh to reap what he sowed by allowing all disasters of Egypt to come upon them through the Nile River. Through the 10 plagues, God killed all Egyptian firstborns. We must hold onto that God will allow us to reap what we sow. This will show what kind of life we will live and what decisions you make. The decisions you make right now will determine your future and your children’s future. 

2. The Change in Pharaoh

(1) Pharaoh's realization

Verses 7-14 - The magicians of Pharaoh were able to mimic the miracles that Aaron and Moses performed. Satan may show you “miracles” but he only leads people deeper into destruction and more problems. Satan may give false answers but these answers will only lead people towards deeper destruction and misery. The magicians should’ve possessed the miracles to get rid of the frogs but they couldn’t do anything about it. Pharaoh realized that the magicians could not contain the plague of the frogs. 

Verse 8 - Pharaoh was able to see the limitations of his magicians. So that is why he called Moses and Aaron forward and asked them to get rid of the frogs. The only being that could solve and stop the plague of frogs was the God of Aaron and Moses, this was what Pharaoh realized. Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron forward, and knew that the servants of God can ask God to stop the plague of frogs. We who are servants of God, what kind of posture should we possess?

Verse 9 - Moses knew that if he prayed to God that God would answer him. He had assurance of this. He boldly asked Pharaoh when he should pray for this plague to stop. This is the same confidence we must possess. 

Verse 10 - Moses gave a confident response to Pharaoh. As we live our walk of faith, we must have the same level of confidence and reassurance. Moses truly believed that God was working and alive. Do you believe that God is alive and working even now in your life? Do you have assurance that God will answer you when you pray? When we pray, we must always hold onto the fact that none of our prayers will fall to the ground but will be answered and fulfilled by our God. 

Verse 13 - Because of Moses’ faith and since Moses prayed with faith, God answered accordingly. God answered Moses’ prayers and did exactly as Moses prayed for, the frogs all died. The moment Moses prayed, all of the frogs came out of the houses and they died immediately. Why did all of the frogs die? It was to show the death of the Egyptian god, the frog god. This was what God was trying to show. 

Verse 14 - Because a great amount of frogs died all at once, it caused a horrible smell to come upon the land. It caused a horrible smell of rotting to fill the entire land. The first plague was when the Nile River turned into blood and it also caused a horrible smell as well. And the second plague was the frogs and the frogs died, and it also caused a horrible smell. We are seeing the absolute power of God through this. Since we are people of God, we are able to see the power of God and the power of the heavenly throne. Moses was using the power of the heavenly throne to break down darkness. If we believe in our living God and have assurance of our living God, then through our prayers, all powers of darkness will crumble. Through the prayers of Moses, great miracles and answers arose. 

(2) The unclean spirit

Verse 15 - After the problem of frogs disappeared, pharaoh’s heart hardened. His heart hardened when he found relief. We need to hold onto this message carefully. God is showing us what happens when you don’t believe in God. If you have problems or a financial problem, once that problem comes to you, you start diligently praying to God. But once the problem gets solved, you start hardening your heart and forget about God. You start ignoring God and worship once you receive answers. Just like we listened to the headquarters message, this is you committing blasphemy against God. 

Romans 1:32 “Who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” -  Committing blasphemy against God is deserving of death as seen in this Bible verse. 

Revelation 16;13 “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.” - In the book of Revelation, they call the spirit of Satan like the spirit of frogs. When grace falls, the spirit of frogs comes upon you. The spirit of frogs is made up of jealousy, gossip, and condemnation. All night long, frogs are croaking and don’t sleep at all. 

Hold onto Luke 23:34 “Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.’ And they divided His garments and cast lots.” - What is absolute is that our God knows everything and knows everything in detail. When we proclaim the accurate gospel, then we can realize. If we don’t do this, then we will fall into destruction. Those who realize and repent, then you will live and be blessed. Then all blocked doors will be opened. This will happen when you have the heart of repentance. 

3. The Three Fundamental Types Healing

(1) The fundamental healing: the covenant

The only way to come out of Satan and bondage of the devil is only through the gospel of Jesus Christ. 

Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” - The only way to defeat Satan is through Jesus Christ alone.

(2) Cultural healing by the plagues: the worship

Through worship, there is the entire God’s focus. 

2 Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” - God possesses the power to break down any stronghold. Through worship, you are restoring the power of God. 

(3) Healing of future generations: the word

The only way to bring our future generations out of contamination and wrath is by imprinting the gospel in them. 

Acts 19:8, 10 “And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God. 10 And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.” - When we imprint the word of God then healing will take place. 

Conclusion

1 Corinthians 3:16 “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” - We must hold onto that we are God’s temple. The heavenly throne of God is within us. We have the power of the Holy Spirit within us. If we believe in this and pray with this faith, then the same works that arose in Moses’ life will come upon us. The power of creation of God is the same back then and even now. If we believe in the living and resurrected Christ, then the same works and miracles will take place in our lives.
