18 예수 그리스도의 나심은 이러하니라 그의 어머니 마리아가 요셉과 약혼하고 동거하기 전에 성령으로 잉태된 것이 나타났더니 19 그의 남편 요셉은 의로운 사람이라 그를 드러내지 아니하고 가만히 끊고자 하여 20 이 일을 생각할 때에 주의 사자가 현몽하여 이르되 다윗의 자손 요셉아 네 아내 마리아 데려오기를 무서워하지 말라 그에게 잉태된 자는 성령으로 된 것이라 21 아들을 낳으리니 이름을 예수라 하라 이는 그가 자기 백성을 그들의 죄에서 구원할 자이심이라 하니라 22 이 모든 일이 된 것은 주께서 선지자로 하신 말씀을 이루려 하심이니 이르시되 23 보라 처녀가 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 것이요 그의 이름은 임마누엘이라 하리라 하셨으니 이를 번역한즉 하나님이 우리와 함께 계시다 함이라. (마1:18-23)

서론

한국에 있는 어떤 단체에서 크리스마스때 가장 가고 싶은 곳이 어디인가 설문 조사를 했다고 한다. 백화점 가서 크리스마스 날 쇼핑을 하고싶다 라는 이야기가 많았다. 또는 가족과 좋은 만남의 시간 갖겠다, 친구들과 좋은 시간을 보내겠다 하는 답변이 대부분 이었다. 어떤 사람은 해외여행을 가고 싶다 했고 그 중에 스키장 가고싶다는 얘기가 제일 많았다. 모처럼 쉬는 날이니 모두 다 좋은 시간을 보내며 즐기고 싶은 마음인것같다. TV 를 보는데 많은 사람들이 교회에 나와 예배 드리는것을 보았다. 모여 찬양하는 모습을 보았다. 저는 그것을 보고 아주 큰 감격을 했다. 대부분의 사람들은 놀러 다니면서 즐기러 다니지만 주님 오신 날을 기념하기 위해 몸된 교회에 나와 찬양을 드리는 모습을 보고 하나님이 얼마나 기뻐하실까 생각했다. 그것을 보고 진짜 하나님의 은혜를 받은 사람들이구나 생각이 들었다. 하나님의 자녀가 아니면 그러한 일을 할 수가 없다. 여러분들이 진짜 하나님의 은혜 받으신 사람들인줄 믿는다. 진짜 하나님의 자녀 인줄을 믿는다. 이 시간 통해 하나님께 마음껏 영광 돌리시기를 바란다. 주님께서 이 땅에 오셨는데 예배 통해 주님을 진짜 만나는 체험의 시간 되시기를 바란다.

1. 말씀으로 예언된 분 He who was prophesied by the Word

(1) 말씀으로 예언 Prophecies in the Word

마 Matthew 1:22, 사 Isaiah 7:14, 창 Genesis 3:15

사 Isaiah 9:6, 53:6

오늘 22-23 절 말씀 보면, “22 이 모든 일이 된 것은 주께서 선지자로 하신 말씀을 이루려 하심이니 이르시되 23 보라 처녀가 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 것이요 그의 이름은 임마누엘이라 하리라 하셨으니” 라고 되어있다. 이 말씀이 무슨 뜻인가. 이 말씀은 직접 하나님께서 이 땅에 오시겠다는 말씀이다. 그러면 왜 하나님께서 직접 이 땅에 오신다는 말씀을 하셔야 했나. 그것은 우리가 창3:15 말씀속에서 해답을 찾을수 있다. 하나님께서 말씀 하시기를 내가 너로 여자와 원수가 되게 하겠다 하셨다. 이 말씀을 우리가 잘 알고있다. 이 말씀은 아담과 하와에게 하신 말씀이 아니다. 사탄에게 하나님께서 하신 말씀으로 우리가 붙잡아야한다. 하나님께서 사단에게 네게 이러한 일이 있을것이다 경고 하시는것이다. 왜 이런 말씀 하셨나. 이미 아담과 하와는 마귀에게 장악된 상태였다. 하나님께서는 그 모습을 보시고 너무나 안타까워 마귀에게 선포 하신것이다. 내가 이들을 구원 시키겠다 하시는 의지가 들어있는것이다. 왜 그러한가. 아담과 하와는 아무 힘도 없는 존재로 전략 되어있는 상태이다. 힘이 빠진 인간의 모습을 보며 하나님께서 말씀 하시기를 여자의 후손을 통해 원수가 되게 하겠다, 결국은 네가 심판을 받아 영원한 저주를 받게 될것이다 하는것에 대한 경고를 하시는것이다. 그러면서 계속 인간에게 소망의 말씀 주신것이다. 그 여자의 후손이 누구인가. 이사야서 9:6에 있다, “그의 이름은 기묘자라, 모사라, 전능하신 하나님이라, 영존하시는 아버지라, 평강의 왕이라 할 것임이라.” 하나님 께서는 오실 예수님의 이름이 다섯가지 라고 보여주신것이다. 메시야가 오셔서 다섯가지 사역을 하실것을 나타내셨다. 그는 기묘자라 하셨다. 태어나신 모습을 말한다. 인간이 상상치 못하는 성령으로 잉태된 그리스도를 말한다. 세상 사람들이 기묘한 일로 알것이다 라는 말이다. 모사 라고 했다. 이 세상이 감당할수 없는 어마어마한 하나님의 지혜를 가지신 분 이라는 뜻이다. 죽은 자를 살리는 능력, 생명의 말씀을 선포 하실 분 이라는 말이다. 그 분은 또 전능하신 하나님 이시다. 이 땅에 와서 그 분이 어떤분인지 실제로 증거를 보이셨다. 내가 바로 하나님이다 하는 증거를 보이셨다. 바다를 잠잠케 하시고 파도를 멎게 하셨다. 죽은자까지 살리셨다. 바로 그것은 전능 하신 하나님임을 나타내기 위함이다. 또 영존하신 하나님 이라 했다. 예수님의 부활을 나타낸다. 인간의 몸을 입고 친히 죽으심으로 모든 문제 해결 하셨을 뿐만 아니라 부활 까지 하신분이다. 그는 평강의 왕이다. 바로 우리에게 성령을 베푸실 하나님 이시다. 그러면서 하나님은 이사야서 53:6에 이야기 하신다, “우리는 다 양 같아서 그릇 행하여 각기 제 길로 갔거늘 여호와께서는 우리 모두의 죄악을 그에게 담당시키셨도다”. 그리스도께서 오셔서 다섯가지 삶을 통해 우리의 완전한 모든 문제 깨끗하게 해결 하실것이다 이 말이다.

(2) 성령으로 잉태 Conceived by the Holy Spirit

마 Matthew 1:20

요 John 1:18, 14

이 말씀 하신것이 실제적으로 이 땅에 이루어지기 시작 한것이다. 그것이 바로 오늘 20절에 나온다, “이 일을 생각할 때에 주의 사자가 현몽하여 이르되 다윗의 자손 요셉아 네 아내 마리아 데려오기를 무서워하지 말라 그에게 잉태된 자는 성령으로 된 것이라”. 그 예언 되었던 말씀이 실질적으로 요셉에 가문에 이루어진것이다. 이 말씀 가운데 두려워 하지 말라, 무서워 하지 말라 말씀 하신다. 지금 약혼녀가 임신해서 배가 불러오니 얼마나 당황스러운 사건인가. 요셉앞에 천사가 나타날때 무서워 했다고 나온다. 이것은 무엇을 상징하나. 예수님의 태어나심은 요셉과 마리아와 전혀 관계 없이 태어났다는것이다. 그래서 그에게 잉태된 자는 성령으로 된것이라 하며 남편되는 요셉에게 직접 말한것이다. 부를때에 그냥 부르지 않고 다윗의 자손 요셉아 라고 부른것이 중요하다. 사무엘하 7:16에 다윗에게 말씀 하시기를, 네 후손 통해 영원한 왕을 세우겠다 하신 말씀의 성취인것이다. 네 가문을 통해 내가 지금 메시야를 보낸다는 말씀인것이다. 말씀은 실제적으로 사실 그대로 성취 되고 있다는 사실을 보여준것이다. 그러면 그 분이 누구인가 하는 말이다. 요 1:18 너무 중요한 말씀이다. “본래 하나님을 본 사람이 없으되 아버지 품 속에 있는 독생하신 하나님이 나타내셨느니라.” 아버지 품 속에 있으신 하나님 이시라는 것이다. 요한복음 1:2절에 말씀 되신 하나님이 나온다. 요 1:14에 “말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그의 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라.” 뱃속에 계신 하나님께서 바로 아버지의 독생자라 하신다. 이 독생자의 뜻은 유일하신 아들 이라는 말이다. 하나님의 아들로 나와 인간의 몸을 입어 다윗 가문에 양자로 오신것이다. 그렇게 지금 요셉 앞에서 너희 집안에 양자로 보낸다 하시는것이다. 이것은 세상 사람들이 전혀 상상도 하지 못하는 일 인것이다. 세상 사람들 보고 하나님 아들이 인간의 몸을 입고 오셨다 하면 믿지 못할것이다. 하나님 몸 속에 그 분이 아들로 나와 인간인 마리아의 뱃속에 들어가 양자로 크셨다는 말이 어떻게 믿어지겠나. 그렇게 이 땅에 육신으로 나오신것이다. 육신으로 오신 목적이 뭔가.

2. 언약을 성취하신 분 He who fulfilled the covenant

(1) 육신으로 오신 그리스도 Christ in the flesh

눅 Luke 1:10-11, 마 Matthew 1:21, 히 Hebrews 2:14-15

눅 2:11-12 에 천사들의 찬양으로 시작 되는것을 볼수 있다, “오늘 다윗의 동네에 너희를 위하여 구주가 나셨으니 곧 그리스도 주 시니라. 너희가 가서 강보에 싸여 구유에 누인 아기를 보리니 이것이 너희에게 표적이니라 하더니”. 천사들이 내려와 목동들과 함께 기뻐 찬양 하는 내용이 바로 이것이었다. 너희를 위하여 구주가 나셨다고 했다. 영어 성경에서 참 감동 받은 부분이다 “A Savior has been born” 구원자 Savior 가 has been born, 현재 완료형으로 사용 되어졌다. 실질적으로 이 땅에 오셨다는 말이다. 구주가 이미 오셨다는 말이다. 곧 그리스도 주 시니라. 놀라운 말씀이다. 지금 구유에 있으니 가서 보아라, 실제로 오셨다 하는 말이다. 우리를 살릴 그리스도가 직접 오셨으니 구유에 가서 보아라 하는 말씀이다. 기가 막힌 사건인것이다. 마 1:21 보겠다, “아들을 낳으리니 이름을 예수라 하라 이는 그가 자기 백성을 그들의 죄에서 구원할 자이심이라 하니라”. 바로 그리스도로 오셔서 우리를 우리의 죄에서 구원 할 자 라고 말씀 하시는것이다. 구원 하시기 위해 직접 오신것이다. 세상에 어떻게 이러한 일이 있을수 있나. 히브리서 2:14-15, “자녀들은 혈과 육에 속하였으매 그도 또한 같은 모양으로 혈과 육을 함께 지니심은 죽음을 통하여 죽음의 세력을 잡은 자 곧 마귀를 멸하시며 15 또 죽기를 무서워하므로 한평생 매여 종 노릇 하는 모든 자들을 놓아 주려 하심이니.” 우리하고 똑같은 몸을 입고 오신 이유를 여기서 말씀 하시는것이다. 죽음의 세력인 마귀를 멸하기 위해 오셨다고 했다. 왜 마귀를 멸하나. 모든 사람들이 죽음의 종 노릇 하는데서 살리시려 하신것이다. 지금 여러분들은 죽으면 천국 갈것이다 확신과 기쁨으로 기다리지만 불신자들은 죽음을 두려워하며 벌벌 떤다. 죽음을 무서워 하는것이다. 왜? 죽으면 모든것이 끝나니까. 왜 모든 사람들이 죽음을 두려워하나? 그들을 기다리는것은 지옥임을 느끼는것이다. 머리로는 알지 못해도 그 영이 느끼는것이다. 그래서 죽음을 떠올리면 두려움이 엄습 하는것이다. 모든 사람들이 이 죽음 앞에 두려워 떠는데 그것을 해결 하기 위해 오신것이다. 우리는 죽음을 두려워 하지 않게 된것이다.

(2) 육신으로 하신 일 What He did while on earth

요 John 1:29, 막 Mark 10:45, 요 John 19:30

그러면 이 땅에 육신으로 오셔서 어떻게 그 일을 이루셨는지 보아야겠다. 차근차근 하나씩 예수님께서 이루셨음을 볼수있다. 요 1:29 에 예수님께서 세례 받고 난 다음 날이다, “이튿날 요한이 예수께서 자기에게 나아오심을 보고 이르되 보라 세상 죄를 지고 가는 하나님의 어린 양이로다.” 이 내용은 이스라엘 사람이면 누구든 다 알아듣는 내용이다. 대속제 날에 어린양에 안수를 해 이를 희생해 그 피를 들고 성소에 간다. 인간의 모든 죄를 그 어린양에 다 전가 하는것이다. 제사장이 친히 양에게 안수해 전가 한다. 세례요한이 하나님께서 임명한 대제사장의 권한으로 예수님께 모든 죄를 전가한다. 이 모든 죄를 짊어지신 예수님께서 친히 막 10:45 에 말씀 하신다, “인자의 온 것은 섬김을 받으려 함이 아니라 도리어 섬기려 하고 자기 목숨을 많은 사람의 대속물로 주려 함이니라.” 예수님은 세상왕과는 다른 왕 이신것을 볼수 있다. 나는 섬기는 왕으로 왔다는 말씀이다. 섬기는 왕이 최고의 섬기는 모습이 바로 인간을 위해 대신 돌아가신것이다. 어린양 처럼 죽으실 대속물 이신것이다. 요 19:30 에 십자가에서 못박혀 돌아가시면서 “다 이루었다" 하시며 머리를 숙이고 돌아가신다. 아버지께서 예정하신 그리스도의 사역의 모든것을 끝내셨다는 말이다. 이 모든것이 끝났다는 증거로 부활 하셨다.

3. 보좌우편에 계신 분 He who sits on the right hand of the Throne

(1) 부활하신 주님 The resurrected Lord

요 John 20:17

히 Hebrews 6:20, 9:24, 7:25

부활 하신 주님을 제일 먼저 만난 이가 마리아 였다. 성모 마리아가 아니라 막달라 마리아를 먼저 만나셨다. 참 재밌는 말씀을 하셨다. 요 20:17, “예수께서 이르시되 나를 붙들지 말라 내가 아직 아버지께로 올라가지 아니하였노라 너는 내 형제들에게 가서 이르되 내가 내 아버지 곧 너희 아버지, 내 하나님 곧 너희 하나님께로 올라간다 하라 하시니.” 이 말씀 읽으시면 감격 스럽지 않으신가. 지금 부활 하신 예수님께서 막달라 마리아에게 가셔서 너는 내 형제들에게 이르라 하신것이다. 여기서 내 형제들 이라는 말이 나온다. 우리가 하나님과 형제 될 자격이 있나? 너는 내 종들에게 가서 얘기해라 하는게 더 맞지 않나. 아니면 내 피조물 들에게 가서 알려라 하시는게 더 맞지 않나. 예수님의 제자들은 예수님이 십자가에 못박히실때 도망갔던 인물들이다. 저 같았으면 저 배신자들에게 가서 이야기해라 했을것 같다. 그런데 주님께서는 내 형제들 이라 칭하셨다. 내가 내 아버지, 곧 너희 아버지, 내 하나님, 곧 너의 하나님께 라고 했다. 나를 붙들지 말라 하며 마리아에게 하신 말씀이다. 왜 이렇게 하셨나. 어떤 신학자는 여자니까 부정 탄다고 만지지 말라고 했다고 주장하는데 이것은 그것을 이야기 하는것이 아니다. 십자가의 대사역을 마치고 난 다음에 마치 제사장들이 지성소에 들어갈때 부정 탈까 아무것도 만지지 않고 가는것처럼 나는 먼저 하나님께 가야 한다 하시는것이다. 그 내용이 바로 히 6:20 에 나온다, “그리로 앞서 가신 예수께서 멜기세덱의 반차를 따라 영원히 대제사장이 되어 우리를 위하여 들어 가셨느니라.” 예수님께서 완전히 영원한 대제사장이 된것이다. 이 멜기세덱의 반차 라고 나온다. 레위 족속의 후손이 아닌것을 말한다. 바로 레위 족속과 상관없이 임마누엘로 오신 그 자체를 말하는것이다. 전혀 죄가 없는 몸으로 오신 영원한 대제사장 이라는 말이다. 속죄제 하는 대제사장은 피를 가지고 성소에 가게 된다. 지금 그 장면을 말하는것이다. 그런데 히 9:24 말씀 보면, “그리스도께서는 참 것의 그림자인 손으로 만든 성소에 들어가지 아니하시고 바로 그 하늘에 들어가사 이제 우리를 위하여 하나님 앞에 나타나시고.” 라고 나온다. 이 땅에 대제사장을은 양의 피를 가지고 지성소로 들어가서 만난것이다. 그런데 예수님께서 어디로 가시나. 이 땅이 만든 지성소가 아닌 친히 하늘로 가셔서 하나님 앞에 직접 가신것이다. 주님께서 직접 자신이 흘리신 보혈의 피를 하나님 앞에 보이신것이다. 구멍 뚫린 양손과 옆구리를 하나님 앞에 친히 보이신것이다. 내가 이 백성들 위해 흘린 핏자국 입니다 하며 직접 보이시는 모습이다. 하나님께서 그 모습을 보시고 난 뒤에 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 거기에 부여 해주신것이다. 히 7:25 말씀 보면, “그러므로 자기를 힘입어 하나님께 나아가는 자들을 온전히 구원하실 수 있으니 이는 그가 항상 살아 계셔서 그들을 위하여 간구하심이라.” 하나님 앞에 보고 하면서 하나님 앞에 모든것을 이어받은 주님께서 이제는 예수님의 이름을 믿고 나아오는 모든 자들을 다 구원하셨다 하는것이다. 온전히 구원 하셨다고 했다. 어떤 문제도 어떤 사건도 모든것을 해결 할수있는 능력이 있으신 우리 주님이다. 항상 살아계셔서 역사 하신다. 그리고 우리와 함께 하신다.

(2) 부활하신 주님의 사역 The ministry of the resurrected Lord

히 Hebrews 9:12, 요일 1 John 1:9, 막 Mark 16:20

그러면 부활하신 주님께서 지금 어떻게 사역 하시는가 우리가 보아야겠다. 히 9:12에 아주 중요한 말씀 하신다, “염소와 송아지의 피로 하지 아니하고 오직 자기의 피로 영원한 속죄를 이루사 단번에 성소에 들어가셨느니라.” 이 땅에서는 염소나 송아지 가지고 죄를 속죄 받은것이다. 예수님께서는 자기의 피로, 직접 자기가 희생 제물이 되어 해결 하셨다. 직접 희생제물과 제사장이 되어 해결 하셨다. 영원한 제물 되시면서 영원한 대제사장 되심을 나타내시는 구절이다. 그렇기 때문에 우리가 요일 1:9의 축복을 받을수 있는것이다, “만일 우리가 우리 죄를 자백하면 저는 미쁘시고 의로우사 우리 죄를 사하시며 모든 불의에서 우리를 깨끗케 하실 것이요.” 구약 시대에는 어린양에 손을 대고 내 죄를 일일히 고백했다. 우리는 제물 되신 주님께서 보좌에 앉아 계시기 때문에 마음으로 주님 앞에 자백만 하면 되는것이다. 주님께서 십자가에서 이미 모든 문제 다 해결 하셨다. 주님 앞에 진심으로 마음으로 회개 하시면 모든것을 용서해 주신다. 얼마나 감사한지 모른다. 우리는 이제 짐승을 잡을 필요도 없고 언제든지 앞으로 나아가면 깨끗히 해결 해주신다. 그것으로 끝나지 않는다, 막 16:20, “제자들이 나가 두루 전파할새 주께서 함께 역사하사 그 따르는 표적으로 말씀을 확실히 증언하시니라.” 지금도 살아계셔 역사하시는 만왕의 왕께서 능력으로 함께 하시는것이다. 지금도 살아계신 주님이다. 이 예배를 듣고 계시며 여러분들의 마음을 다 알고 계시며 기도 제목도 다 알고 계신다. 여러분들이 이 주님 앞에 기도할때 모든 문제 해결될것이다.

결론 Conclusion

눅 Luke 1:37-38

말씀 맺겠다. 눅1:37-38, “대저 하나님의 모든 말씀은 능하지 못하심이 없느니라 38 마리아가 이르되 주의 여종이오니 말씀대로 내게 이루어지이다 하매 천사가 떠나가니라.” 여러분, 말씀은 살아있다. 말씀은 능치 못하심이 없다고 말씀 하신다. 말씀 붙잡고 기도 하시라. 예수님 오심도 말씀대로 가심도 말씀대로, 지금도 말씀대로 역사하고 계신다. 여러분들이 말씀을 나의 레마로 붙잡는 순간 능치 못할 일이 없음이 나타나길 바란다. 마리아의 축복도 말씀 대로 네게 이루어지리라 한 마디 때문에 일어난것 이다. 이 말씀이 여러분들에게 그대로 적용이 되는 축복의 말씀 될줄을 믿는다.

You Shall Call His Name Jesus (Matthew 1:18-23)

“18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, 'Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.' 22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 'Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.' ”

Introduction

There is an organization in Korea that sent out a survey asking people what people wanted to go the most during Christmas. The results of the survey showed that most people wanted to go shopping on Christmas. Also, some people wanted to go meet with their family and friends. These were the most popular results. Another response was people saying that they wanted to go to a nightclub or go traveling. Another top choice was a ski resort. On TV, I also saw that people went to church to give worship and praise. When I saw that, I was very moved. Many people go to have fun but on Christmas, there are people who are commemorating Jesus and giving praise to God. Imagine how pleased God would be when we do this to give glory and praise on the day of His birth. I think these are the people who have received God’s grace. Only children of God have the heart to give worship and praise to God. I believe that you are people who have received God’s grace. May today be a day where we can give God the greatest glory. Jesus Christ had come to earth on Christmas so may we experience Jesus Christ during today’s worship service.

1. He Who Was Prophesied by the Word

(1) Prophecies in the Word

Verses 22-23 - This means that Jesus Christ will come to this earth. Why did Jesus Christ had to come to earth? We can find the answer in Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” - We know this passage very well. This was not what God said to Adam and Eve. He was saying this to Satan. God was warning Satan that this will be Satan’s fate. Why did God say this? This was because Adam and Eve were already in a state under the control of Satan so when God saw this, He saw this very unfortunate. Because this was unfortunate, God promised to save mankind from Satan. This is because mankind cannot save themselves, only God can save us. God who saw us as weak mankind, God promised to send us the offspring of the woman to save us. In the end, Satan will face judgment and will face eternal damnation in hell. That is why God continued to give hope to mankind by speaking about the offspring of the woman.

Who was the offspring of the woman? Isaiah 9:6, 53:6 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 53:6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” and Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” - There were five names of Jesus written here. God will come to accomplish five tasks. He is wonderful. He will come as the son of a virgin through the work of the Holy Spirit. This is beyond mankind’s understanding. He is the almighty God who will show His works on earth. He will show that He is God. As the Almighty God, He raised the dead to life. He is the Almighty God. He is also the everlasting Father. He was resurrected after His death. He resurrected after He died on the cross for our sins. He is also the prince of peace. He is the God who bestows upon us the word of God.

We can see the continuation of Isaiah 53:6 - Jesus Christ came and fulfilled these five roles. He fulfilled these five roles and names, and died on the cross. This realistically took place on this earth.

We can see this in verse 22 - This realistically took place through the lineage of Joseph. The angel told Joseph not to be afraid because through Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ will come. Joseph became afraid because Mary was a virgin and she bore a child. When the angel appeared before Joseph, this showed that Jesus Christ appeared when Joseph and Mary did not conceive a child together but it was through the complete fulfillment of the work of the Holy Spirit.

(2) Conceived by the Holy Spirit

Verse 20 - This shows the complete fulfillment of God’s word. Then, who was the fulfilled word of God?

John 1:18, 14 “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” - This Jesus came from the bosom of the Father; Jesus was begotten from the Father.

John 1:1, 14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”- Jesus was the only begotten of the Father, when Jesus was begotten from the Father, He came as the Son of God. Jesus came through the family lineage of King David, who was a shepherd. This is something that the world and people could imagine. The angel appeared before Mary and allowed her to conceive a son through the Holy Spirit; this is unimaginable work that mankind cannot comprehend. The prophecy was fulfilled and the word became flesh.

2. He Who Fulfilled the Covenant

(1) Christ in the flesh

Luke 2:10-11 “Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’ ” - This was the content of the angels who were praising when Jesus was born. It said that the Savior was born. I was touched when I read this in the English version. This means that the Savior was born. This is an astounding message. The Savior has been born so the angels were praising and proclaiming for people to come to see the Savior who has been born. This was an astounding event.

Matthew 1:21 “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” - This Jesus came and forgave us from our sins. He came to save us from our sins. He came to earth to do this. How could this be?

Hebrews 2:14-15 “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” - Jesus came to earth in human flesh and the reason why He did this, He is written here. He came to break down the power of Satan, the power of death. Why did He come to break down Satan? Because Satan is controlling mankind under his bondage and under the power of death. We are waiting here on this earth to go to heaven when we die but for nonbelievers, they are trembling in fear when they think about death. Nonbelievers fear death. They don’t know what will happen to them when they die. They know that what is waiting for them is hell. Their souls know that the impending doom of eternal hell is waiting for them. All mankind tremble in fear of death. But in order to solve this, Jesus Christ came. We should be thankful. We don’t need to fear death. Then, how did Jesus save us from our fate and destiny of hell and death from Satan?

(2) What He did while on earth

John 1:29 “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, 'Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!' ” - All Israelites heard the words of John the Baptist. In the Old testament, they would perform blood sacrifices by sacrificing a lamb on the day of the Atonement. The sins that the lamb would bear would be the sins of the Israelites and these lambs would be sacrificed. John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ and allowed Jesus to bear all of the sins of mankind.

Jesus who bore all of the sins of mankind, Jesus spoke in Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” - Jesus Christ was a different kind of king. He said that He came as the king to serve. A king who serves is the greatest king for He took all of the sins of mankind and died for us. Just like the young lamb, Jesus died for mankind.

John 19:30 “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, 'It is finished!' And bowing His head, He gave up His Spirit.” - What God promised and prophesied, it was absolutely fulfilled through Jesus Christ once and for all when He died on the cross. The evidence that it was all finished, Jesus resurrected. The first person that Jesus met after His resurrection was Mary. It wasn’t Mary the Virgin but Mary Magdalene. This is a very interesting story.

3. He Who Sits on the Right Hand of the Throne

(1) The resurrected Lord

John 20:17 “Jesus said to her, 'Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ' ” - Jesus said something interesting to Mary. When you read this passage, it is very moving. The resurrected Jesus told Mary that she should share about the resurrected Christ to her brothers. From here, Jesus speaks about the brothers of Mary. Jesus speaks about brothers which means that Jesus now considered us as family. He didn’t consider His disciples and people of God as His creations or servants. But Jesus called them His brothers. We know that many disciples fled from Jesus and betrayed Him when He was dying on the cross. But Jesus still called them His brothers. Jesus told Mary not to cling to Him. This is interesting for Jesus to say this. Some theologians say that since Mary was a woman, she was holding onto Jesus so Jesus was telling her to not touch Him but this does not mean this at all. Back in the days, when a corpse was buried, no one could touch a dead corpse.

Hebrews 6:20, 9:24, 7:25 “Where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. 9:24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. 7:25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.’ - Jesus became the True and eternal high priest. This means that Jesus is not a Levi but He came as Immanuel who had nothing to do with the lineage and tribe of Levi. He came as a sinless prophet who came through the Virgin Mary. Only the high priests could go inside the most holy place and this is what it is talking about.

Hebrews 9:24 - All of the high priests would take the blood of the lamb and enter into the most holy place. But Jesus, where did He go? He didn’t go into the most holy place but He went directly before God in heaven. Jesus bore all of our sins and went directly before God with our sins. He went before Jesus with His body that was sacrificed on the cross before God. He showed God directly His body that was sacrificed for mankind. God saw Jesus and gave all of the authority of heaven and earth to Jesus.

Hebrews 7:25 - Jesus who the Son of God, anyone who prays in the name of Jesus Christ, answers will be given to them. This is because all authority of heaven and earth was given to Jesus. Jesus has the power over heaven and authority, which means that He can solve all problems. This is because Jesus is alive and within us even now. How is the resurrected Christ working and what He is doing now?

(2) The ministry of the resurrected Lord

Hebrews 9:12 “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.” - This is a very important message. They would perform blood sacrifices with goats and calves before God. But through the blood of Jesus, He became the ultimate sacrifice. He became the priest Himself and shed His blood for us. He became the ultimate blood sacrifice and fulfilled the role of the true Priest.

Because of that, we were able to receive the blessing of 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” - In the Old Testament, they had to confess all for their sins one by one by performing a blood sacrifice. But now our blood sacrifice, Jesus Christ has resurrected and is sitting on the right side of God’s throne. How we present our sins to God is by confessing our sins to Jesus Christ. If we confess of our sins earnestly before Jesus then all of our sins will be forgiven. We should be thankful. We don’t need to catch and kill an animal ever again. All we have to do is go before Jesus Christ and confess of our sins.

Mark 16:20 “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.” - Jesus is alive and working within our lives as the True King. This true King is still alive and listening to our worship services. He knows all of our hearts. He knows all of our prayer topics. If we just pray before Jesus then all of our prayers will be answered and He will listen to us.

Conclusion

Luke 1:37-38 “For with God nothing will be impossible. 38 Then Mary said, 'Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.' And the angel departed from her. ” - The Word of God is living and active. Nothing is impossible with the Word of God. So hold onto the word and pray. Jesus was born, died, and resurrected all according to the Word of God. The moment we hold onto the word of God then nothing will become impossible for us. Mary was blessed tremendously because she believed in the word of God that was given to us. May we abide and obey God’s words as well.
